SUSAN Sangha is one of three new B.C. provincial court judges, the Ministry of Attorney General announced on Monday. Her appointment will be effective March 7. The others are: * Ellen (Heidi) Hughes, effective March 14 * Michelle Peacock, effective March 7 Sangha holds a law degree from the University of Victoria, graduating in 1996 before being called to the B.C. bar in 1997. (1996-1997 Judicial Clerkship Supreme Court of British Columbia.) She was a civil litigator and partner at Alexander Holburn where she has worked since �inishing law school. Her practice area was insurance defence work, focusing on personal injury, occupier’s liability and product liability, as well as employment and human rights. According to the Alexander Holburn website, “Susan … has a particular interest and expertise in alternative dispute resolution and has received formalized training in mediation, including at the Pepperdine University, School of Law, Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.” The Province said it is committed to promoting fair access to justice for all residents of B.C. These appointment decisions consider multiple factors, including the needs of the court, the diversity of the bench and the candidates’ areas of expertise.

Canadian Police investigating the conspiracy part in homicide of Jimi Sandhu in Thailand CANADIAN police are investigating the conspiracy angle in the murder of Indian gangster Jimi Sandhu who was gunned down in Rawai, Phuket, on February 4, sources told The VOICE on Wednesday. As this newspaper reported online last Sunday (February 13), Thai police had identi�ied the alleged killers of Sandhu as Canadian nationals Gene Karl Lahrkamp, 36, and Matthew Leandre Ovide Dupre, 36, and issued arrest warrants for them. Thai media reported that the police had on Saturday (February 12) contacted Interpol to request a Red Notice in 195 nations. According to those notices, Lahrkamp is 193 cm tall, weighs 95 kg and has green eyes and brown hair. He was born in Canada on December 21, 1985. Dupre was born in Canada on November 19, 1985. Both have been described as “armed, dangerous, escape risk, suicidal, violent”. One of them was believed to have served in the ‘military’
The suspected killers: Gene Karl Lahrkamp and Matthew Leandre Ovide Dupre although police didn’t provide any further details, according to Thai media. The two alleged killers �lew from Phuket to Bangkok and left Suvarnabhumi Airport on February 6, with Dupre �lying to Amsterdam and Lahrkamp to Frankfurt. Vancouver Sun on Wednesday reported that Canadian police on Tuesday searched a rural Trail property that belongs to Lahrkamp from where he was running his dogbreeding company Mountain Mal’s. The newspaper also con�irmed from the Canadian military that both Lahrkamp and Dupre rose to the rank
