Comedian Jason Manford once told a story about seeing Chesney Hawkes in concert. He started with The One and Only which got a round of applause. Then, pausing before saying 'For my next song', Jason said people were muttering, saying, 'He has another one?'

The Buggles

For my next song I’m going with Breakfast at Tiffany's by Deep Blue Something (1995) a very good pop song and maybe brought the classic Audrey Hepburn film to a new generation. In 1980 The Buggles had a massive hit with Video Killed the Radio Star. Lead singer Trevor Horn is now a top record producer and I think that the song still sounds great. The Knack (1979) had a big hit with My Sharona, a song built around a very good jerky guitar riff. Lead singer Doug Fieger wrote this for his girlfriend Sharona Alperin. The band Weatus scored a number one hit with Teenage Dirtbag in 2000. Sadly they have never been able to replicate this achievement. Norman Greenbaum certainly doesn't sound like a pop star but his song, Spirit in the Sky (1969) still gets played on the radio.

Four Non-Blondes were from San Francisco and in 1993 released a song called What's Up. A great tune and none of the four girls were blonde.
