The Light

V

Most of us are bumping along in life just doing what we feel without a lot of thought or a deeper understanding of what our decisions mean beneath the surface. Our lives, our minds, and our energy fields are very much like a garden. If you inherit a patch of land and you haven’t done anything with it yet, it will become riddled with weeds. In order to have a beautiful rose, first you have to pull the weeds and plant the seeds. Growing up, I had no idea how all of this worked. I struggled with demons and dark entities showing up and wreaking havoc on my life, especially at night. I was totally in fear, stressed out, unhealthy, and struggling with disturbing dreams. It wasn’t until I went to a psychic myself that I understood the importance of angels and inviting them in. As soon as I did, my life immediately transformed. After having an angelic experience, I knew that everything was going to be okay.

This is going to sound a little like Star Wars but there is a light side and a dark side to our world too. The Light operates on the principles of love, caring, cooperation, illumination, truth, mutual benefit and creation. Most of the things we label “good” in our society are an aspect of the light. The Light is thoughtful and honors our choice and free will. Angels are beings of light and they are our messengers and helpers. They care how we feel, which means we have to actively choose them in order for that energy to make a difference. Unless they are wanted, they don’t get involved. By using this concept in our lives, it gives the angels permission to work with us and actively change things. This is so powerful, it’s like having the most incredible invisible helpers there to make things happen for you. In many cultures angels are called “The Watchers”. They are simply waiting for us to ask for help in order to step in and make our lives better. Because most peo-

40

Issue 1

ple don’t know this there are a lot of unemployed angels sending messages yet having to watch while we struggle when we don’t read them. Inviting our angels in is simple; we can do it through our thoughts, feelings, and intentions. All we need to do is to extend a silent invitation. You could say it out loud or even write it down. They don’t care what method you choose so long as it is clear that we do want them involved. The tricky part though, since they respect our free will, is that they have full understanding that we can change our minds at any time. Let’s say that today you want to connect with a nice, friendly guy but tomorrow you want a bad boy. That nice guy is going to say—okay, if you’re choosing that other fella— I am not going to force myself on you. Same thing with the angels. If you want their help today, and tomorrow, and the day after, you are going to need to make it clear to them that you want them in your life every single day.

S

The Dark

Beings of the dark— demons and dark entities— work on directly counter opposite principles of the light. Pain, suffering, deception, appropriation, and victimization are some of their tools. While the light waits to be invited in, the dark is not so polite. Remember that garden analogy? You don’t have to invite the dark beings in for them to show up. They are there automatically. This is because they do not care how you might feel; they are entirely self-serving. You must actively take steps to clear the dark from your life. In a garden, it is not enough to just plant flowers, you must also tend to the soil and clear out the unwanted growth or the flowers will die. Just as you must repetitively invite the angels in, you must regularly clear the darkness out. While there are demons and other creatures who feed on and create darkness, often times the biggest culprits or avenues of darkness in our own lives are our own thoughts, patterns, and behaviors. Victimization and suffering are very common. Bear in mind that suffering means both creating it in others and allowing it for ourselves. The Dark only attacks us when we have some kind of unhealthy physical or mental pattern or belief system that allows them in. So understanding when we are doing things that draw them in is crucial if we want to change it.

Article written by Psychic, Laura Powers

Why this Matters to You You might be reading all of this and thinking, “That’s all well and good but why should this matter to me?” If you want a good life, if you want to let go of the struggle, despair and pain, you must learn how to recognize the darkness at work in your own life and counteract it by calling for help. Most people have messy gardens by default because we have never been taught to pull weeds or plant flowers. I want you all to know this is possible and you don’t have to live otherwise. You can have a beautiful, lush garden filled with flowers, fruits and vegetables but until you develop awareness of the light and the dark, you will continue to have a barren, cluttered piece of land. The best part of this is how easy it is to implement. All you have to do is put out the request and the angels will hear you. Start right now and watch your life transform. You won’t regret it.

New Mind Body and Soul Super Fruit!? Article by Beauty Blogger, Brittany Flickinger

Amalaki doesn’t just help you look great, it makes you feel great. It elevates energy and removes anxiety. We all know how much social anxiety is trendI have found the ultimate fruit answer to all of our food craze prayers: Amalaki. Amalaki, or Indian Gooseberry, has been known in India for hundreds of years to be a huge supporter of skin, bones, and organ function. It is a light green, moderately sized, tree-grown fruit found in the tropical land we call India. All parts of the plant are used other than just the meat of the fruit. The root, leaves, seed, bark, fruit and also the flowers have been used since ancient times as rejuvenating medicine for different areas of the body both topically and intestinally. In the states, gooseberry comes as an over the counter supplement for the most part and can be ordered by the pound as a powder supplement form from many organic food and herb websites all over the Internet. With just a quick Google search, you will have plenty of options. It is full of amazing properties that address all aspects of your life and help you look and feel like a billion dollars. For example, Amalaki nourishes the cells that line your heart and arteries. It also diminishes wrinkles and promotes clear, glowing, radiant skin. The same goes for your hair and nails. When ingested, amalaki nestles into your bloodstream and blood cells to cleanse, renew, and repair your entire body. The arterial walls, heart, circulatory system, liver and eyesight are restored. Amalaki is a miracle fruit; especially if it means I don’t have to worry about drinking that extra glass (bottle) of wine during my Netflix nights.

ing right now, but it’s really not as cool as it sounds on t-shirts and memes when you’re having an actual panic attack in the middle of a bar. This tiny miracle will prevent all of that from happening. And guess what else? Amalaki also promotes weight loss. It awakens your digestion and fires up your metabolism by the teaspoon. It is increasingly found in supplement powders promoted by famous health and yoga gurus around the world. Deepak Chopra, for one, seems to be a strong believer in this fruit for its brain function powers and many other overall health benefits. Furthermore, amalaki may be a factor in preventing or relieving cancer. This ancient multi-herb has been used to relieve cough, skin disease, tumors and. Amalaki is full of antioxidants. It relieves impurities, free radicals, cholesterol and other junky build-up in the body that can cause disease. As always, if you have health concerns, please check with a holistic doctor before ingesting something new.

Death, rebirth. Death, rebirth. We are part of something that is larger than ourselves. We’ve lived on this planet for hundreds of thousands of years, slowly altering something that’s already changing on its own. We just sped it up, that’s all. This is what my mother tells me. I am a child then, too small to understand the innermost workings of the cosmos, the internal regulation and turnover of all energy within it, including us. My mother is a dying star, and I do not understand that, either. What happens when we die? I ask her. Some people think we go to heaven, and we get to be with god. Is god real? I think so. I tell her I do not, and I run out of our home, down to the river, and into the reeds and the bushes where I can be alone and listen to the sounds a world makes when it is undisturbed. She finds me and she scoops me up into her arms and holds me and tells me that the universe is vast, and it encompasses more than our eyes and minds are able to comprehend. There is more than just us.

*

*

*

Years pass, and I grow and age and mature. My mother’s soul has rejoined the astral dust and dark matter that makes up ninety seven percent of the universe. I read in books that space is not a void like we all thought it was for so long, but in fact a pulsating energy field. Its capabilities are endless. Scientists are trying to find a way to tap into this energy, so that maybe they can use it to travel through space and search for a new planet for humans to live on. I think of my mother and me when I was small and the day we found a baby bird with a broken wing on her porch. We kept it in a little box with holes lined with silk until it healed enough to fly again. She has been gone so long that I start to forget the sound of her voice telling me that there is more than just us.

140

Issue 1

I beg the universe to let me commune with her, to let me see her, just once. I pray to something I am not sure I believe in and put crystals under my bed and see a psychic. She reads my tarot and I pull Death. The card does not always signify your death, the psychic tells me. Everyone dies, I tell her. It is inescapable and unavoidable. The one uniting and humbling force of the universe. Death, rebirth. Death, rebirth. I continue to read books that have new ideas about the universe. I read that subatomic particles exist in a potential state until someone observes them, and only then do they become classifiable. I read about the endurance of a soul, the infinite amount of possibilities for it to be recycled in a feedback loop that accounts for all life. Reading gives me hope, yet I don’t understand or have answers. I look out into the night sky and search for my mother’s face and voice in the stars. Sometimes she comes to me in dreams.

*

*

*

One morning I am lying in bed, the early golden light making pearly shadows in my bedroom. I am not sure if I am awake or asleep, but somewhere between, energy unstipulated. My mother appears in the orange glow. Another plane of existence opens itself to me and I leave my body and become a vibrating mass. I go to my mother; she looks young and beautiful and healthy. Our forces hover in this other plane and I tell her, I miss you so much. I miss you too, she says. I can feel her holding me, it is real. Her presence slowly evaporates from the room and I am sitting up in bed, grasping at nothing, heart beating wildly and drenched in sweat. There is more than just us.

Facial in Los Angeles

CHEZ GABRIELA SKIN Article by Beauty Blogger, Brittany Flickinger

How well do you take care of your skin? Like, REALLY take care of your skin? Over the years of obsessing over creams and facials and other ways to make my skin look like those red-carpet-ready faces we see on the T.V. I have tried everything... and I mean EVERYTHING. From bar soap to La Mer to smearing everything from the kitchen on my face; finally, I’ve found the best of the best: Chez Gabriella Skin. She is the only skin artist in LA who can transform a face from good skin to OH MY GOD skin. I’ve always had pretty good skin and didn’t realize I needed to be regularly getting facials until I started Celebrity Aesthetician, Chez Gabriella

seeing her. My first time was around a year and a half ago. The best part is that I just keep getting younger every time I go. She knows the ins and outs of care for specific skin types and I am taking full advantage.
