Delicious dinner is on the menu for local seniors Telephone Befriending co-ordinator Jill Haigh took on the task of raising money for VASA’s Christmas Companions – an event held on Christmas Day to gather together some of the loneliest seniors in South Ayrshire and give them a day to smile about. They’re given a proper Christmas dinner, with good company and a wee gift. Jill set herself the goal of cycling 500km in the month of July to raise £500 towards the special day. We here at VASA could not have been prouder when Jill smashed her 500km target and hit 600km before the month was out, and not only did she push herself to surpass her goal, but the generosity of those that donated went far beyond her target – she raised £950 in the end for Christmas Companions.
