DAY IN THE DIRT It’s a fresh start for everyone. The start of a new year, decade and racing season that kicked off in Anaheim with over 43,000 fans coming out to Angels Stadium for the opening round of the 2010 AMA SX series. The 2010 VonZipper West Coast moto team added some new faces to the team. VZ would like to welcome #20 Broc Tickle of Star Racing along with the KTM Factory Service/One Industries team of #111 Mike Sleeter and #63 Sean “Borky” Borkenhagen to the team. 16 year old English prodigy, Max Anstie, returns to the VZ team for his sx debut along side his Star Racing teammate, Tickle. In the Lites class the Star Racing duo of Tickle and Anstie got the new season off to a great start. Anstie posted the 2nd fastest lap time in the lites class. When the gate dropped on the first heat race of the year, Tickle grabbed the holeshot and led from the start to the checkered flag with Anstie just behind in 2nd. Also making the first main event of the season was #63 Sean Borkenhagen via the LCQ. In the Lites main event Tickle, Anstie, and Borkenhagen all got pinched off the start and came around after lap one deep in the pack. But everyone charged to the front posting some of the fastest lap times all day. Tickle made his way to 6th place just missing a top five finish. His teammate, Max Anstie made his way into the top 10 finishing in 9th place.

PHOENIX... For the second round of the Monster Energy Supercross series the riders and fans traveled to Chase Field and Phoenix, Arizona. The crowd came out early packing the pits trying to meet their favorite riders hoping to grab an autograph or a pair of new 2010 Vonzipper’s before they hit the stores. Qualifying directly into the main event from the first Lites heat were KTM pilot Sean Borkehagen and rookie privateer Jake Canada. The Star Racing west coast team of Tickle and Anstie got off to great starts with fast lap times in practice helping them both qualify to the main event. When the gate dropped on the Lites main event the fans were on their feet to see who would come out on top this week. #20 Broc Tickle got his first top 5, finishing in 5th place. His teammate #48 Max Anstie had to overcome a bad start but was able to climb up to 15th. #63 Sean Borkehagen finished just behind, Anstie, in 16th place. And last but definitely not least #592 Jake Canada who made his first pro supercross main event finishing in 19th. The series travels back to Anaheim and California for the next four rounds of the west coast series.
