Both of whom died from wounds sustained during the burning of Ballybrack R.I.C. Barracks, Dunne, a resident of Dalkey, and Meaney, a resident of Monkstown, were both killed in a premature explosion when members of the 6th Battalion of the Irish Republican Army, based in south County Dublin, successfully gutted the unoccupied barracks in an effort to stop its occupation by Black and Tans.â&#x20AC;?
