Agenda Item 66 MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE 22nd September 2014 PARK HOUSE COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE DÚN LAOGHAIRE
Question:
Councillor M. Merrigan
“To ask the Chief Executive to outline the current status of the refurbishment works at Park House Community Resource Centre, Library Road, Dún Laoghaire, and to indicate when these will be completed and to detail what measures, if any, are in place or envisaged to restore the community led management structure for the building and to outline the plans, if any, to engage in meaningful public consultation with the community regarding the future function and operation of this facility?” Reply: The refurbishment works on Park House, Library Road, were focused on improving accessibility and structural issues. Those works are now at final snagging stage. The Community Section is working with the Management Committee on getting the building fit for use by the community in the near future. The Community Section has been in contact with the Management Committee while works were ongoing. We will work with the existing Management Committee to establish what groups will be relocating back to the building and hence what availability and demand there will be for the use of the building. Park House has operated with good community representation and participation and we would see that continuing on reopening. The building is a small community facility with limited use and space available. We will work with local groups and the community to best accommodate their needs.
