HOLYHEAD – DÚN LAOGHAIRE LINK ASSOCIATION The Link Association is an open, democratic, non-party political, non-sectarian, voluntary, representative community based organisation established by the communities of Holyhead and Dún Laoghaire to promote and sustain our historical and social connections for the mutual benefit of both Holyhead and Dún Laoghaire. The Link Association is a part of the European-wide twinning movement and adheres to its philosophy for the development of communities throughout Europe. The Link Association agrees to uphold, support and promote the principle of uniting municipalities throughout Europe and the creation of a network of citizens and communities. In line with twinning arrangements throughout Europe, the Link Association’s objective is to recognise, respect and value the historical, cultural, commercial, education, social and linguistic identities of all twinned communities and to promote an awareness, appreciation and knowledge of such in its activities and publications. The Link Association specifically acknowledges the Celtic cultural and linguistic identities of Holyhead and Dún Laoghaire and shall encourage the use of Cymraeg and Gaeilge in its activities. The Link Association recognises and celebrates the ethnic, religious and cultural diversity of our communities and shall promote social inclusion, mutual respect, tolerance and harmony amongst all. The Link Association shall promote mutual understanding, tolerance, inclusiveness, support and trust through collaborative endeavours specifically designed to further and strengthen the twinning movement. The Link Association recognises the importance of the Welsh and Irish diasporas throughout the world and shall endeavour to establish meaningful and sustainable connections with these communities.
