A sure bet! By Daniel Melançon Sports Journalist for Salut Bonjour! and host of Golf Mag on TVA Sports

Over the last few years, as part of my job as host of Golf Mag on TVA Sports, I’ve had the opportunity to visit countless wonderful destinations, both at home and abroad. And, that’s without even mention of the many personal vacations I’ve had the pleasure of taking. The Punta Cana region of the Dominican Republic has seen exponential growth in the last 15 years or so when it comes to quality golf courses, ultimately transforming it into a prime golfing destination. One of my favourite bucket-list courses is the spectacular Punta Espada, a Jack Nicklaus signature course. 8 of the 18 holes play literally alongside the Caribbean and its gorgeous turquoise waters, and extraordinary ocean views can be enjoyed over a total of 15 holes. The Punta Espada is also where you can walk in the footsteps of Fred Couples, who won the Cap Cana

Championship here as part of the PGA Champion’s Tour. From the Punta Espada, you can make your way to the nearby Corales—boasting equally luxurious surroundings, as intimate as they are grandiose. Designed by the celebrated Tom Fazio, this is definitely a must-play course. To this day, the Corales remains the most beautiful playing surface I have enjoyed in the Caribbean. From the driving range to the greens, every inch of this course is sublime. Another great discovery is the Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay, where prime golfing is offered in a totally rock’n’roll environment. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this course features wide, undulating fairways that carve through the surrounding lush tropical jungle. I guarantee that the magnificent complexity of these immense greens is something you will never forget. My final suggestion is The Lakes at Barcelo course, which provides the best value for your money. Redesigned by P.B. Dye in 2010, this aptly named course features 25 water hazards as well as 122 sand traps over a total of 6,655 yards from the professional tees. A few other favourites you might want to add to make your vacation complete are the Iberostate Bavaro Golf Club and the La Cana Golf Course.

PACKAGES AVAILABLE INCLUDES: Direct round trip flight with Air Transat to Punta Cana, 7 nights’ accommodation in double occ., 3 meals a day and drinks, golf rounds as indicated, airport transfers and taxes.

Interview with

Antoine Laroche Golf Products Director and Group Coordinator at Gendron Travel

By Eve Boissonnault Journalist and Author

Three particular courses are the pride and joy of Casa de Campo—The first is The Teeth of the Dog, a Pete Dye signature course tucked in alongside the Caribbean Sea, and “known for its nasty bite!” says Antoine. Then, there is the Dye Fore “located along the Chavón River, which majestically runs to the bottom of a cliff, at the foot of the Dominican Mountains. And, last but not least, The Links, a traditional 18 hole also designed by Pete Dye.” Antoine’s description is enough to make anyone dream—but, it might also make you wonder if you can even afford this place. The truth is, up until now, anyone who wanted to step onto the greens of this private establishment had to loosen their purse strings in order to stay at the luxurious Casa de Campo Hotel or, perhaps—in a more improbable scenario—make friends with the likes of Jay-Z or Bill Clinton, who both vacation there. However, “this year, for the first-time ever, Gendrongolf is thrilled to offer a much more affordable way to enjoy this golfing mecca: one week of golf at Casa de Campo including a round on the Teeth of the Dog course, a second on the Dye Fore and four others at The Links. The savings come from choosing accommodations located just outside of the courses at the Grand Baya Principe La Romana,” announces the Director of Golf Products. The utmost in luxury… finally made affordable.

Some of the most glorious greens in the world can be found in the city of La Romana, located south of the Dominican Republic, just 75 km of Punta Cana. “At the heart of the city reigns Casa de Campo—a well-known resort that sits among large sugar plantations. It is the most luxurious resort complex in all the Caribbean,” explains Antoine Laroche, who had the opportunity to visit this idyllic location last year with Bernard Gendron. With a rich history alive with tales of golf, celebrities and exclusivities, this is one place where heads turn as often as balls roll on immaculate greens.

PLAYA MUJERES Golf Club The Greg Norman designed Playa Mujeres Golf Club is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful courses in all of Cancun. With 7,218 yards from the back tees, it is also one of the most challenging. And, of course, thanks to the Playa Mujeres’s oceanside location, the wind will definitely be a factor in the way you play and the level of concentration you will need at certain holes. The course’s design was intended to highlight the spectacular environment of which it is part. The result? A breathtaking course with an incredibly natural look and feel. I highly recommend it.

RIVIERA CANCUN Golf Club Another beautiful creation by none other than Jack Nicklaus, whose name is synonymous with the utmost in quality when it comes to design and playing conditions. Located near a hotel zone just steps away from the airport, this particular course is sure to please golfers of every skill level. A nice variety of holes and the perfect amount of water hazards. Certain narrow fairways on the back nine will definitely put your accuracy to the test. A wonderful golfing adventure awaits you.

IBEROSTAR PARAISO Golf Club What a beautiful golf course this is! An absolute masterpiece designed by none other than P.B. Dye. You’ll find it hard to believe that this started out as a flat surface when you see the abundance of undulating slopes, elevated tees and rolling hills. The playing conditions are impeccable and the beauty of the site alone is worth the trip. You’ll want to watch out for deep bunkers and try to avoid the water hazards and rock riverbeds. Iberostar Playa Paraiso is a sure bet for a great day of golfing.

EL CAMALEON golf club at MAYAKOBA Located close to Playa del Carmen, a mere 45 minutes from Cancun, this majestic course hosts a yearly stop on the PGA Tour. El Camaleon is all about luxury. Located Oceanside, the course includes three absolutely breathtaking holes. With its spectacular caverns, lush vegetation and innumerable palm trees, the beauty of these surroundings leaves no one indifferent. Despite the slightly higher than average green fees, this is one course you will definitely not want to miss. Let’s not forget that it ranks among the most beautiful courses in the country.

Hard rock golf club riviera maya This course is quite possibly the most challenging in the region. In fact, if you happen to manage your usual score when playing the Hard Rock, it’s most likely because you have pinpoint accuracy and you just happened to have a really good day. The narrow fairways and small greens don’t leave much room for error. I personally thought this was the hardest course I ever played in Mexico. Unless you’re willing to sacrifice distance for accuracy, you won’t have much success. Plan out your game (and keep your emotions in check), and you just might play a decent game!

RIVIERA MAYA Golf club Designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, this course in the Tulum region has nothing to envy of its counterparts. Indeed, the Riviera Maya Golf Club has everything: lush jungle, caverns and natural lakes combined with heaps of rock and limestone that lend the course its distinctive look. With endless variety and eyepleasing landscape, the Riviera Maya Golf Club is enjoyable and stimulating from start to finish. Playing conditions are always perfect and the service is nothing short of first class. This is a course you won’t want to miss!

A golfer’s paradise… and so much more! By Debbie Savoy Morel Golf Director at Le Mirage Golf Club

The breathtaking combination of desert and sea is precisely what makes Los Cabos such a unique, must-visit corner of the globe. Needless to say, many of the holes you will play here provide impressive ocean views, while others are literally steps from the sand. In such an environment, any course you visit is sure to be impeccable and feature some of the most breathtaking views. It’s the kind of place you need to visit at least once in your life, and is an absolute dream come true for any golfer! But, be warned—once you visit Los Cabos, you’ll be hooked— your first visit will definitely not be your last!

Packages available INCLUDES: Direct round trip flight with Sunwing to San Jose Del Cabo, 7 nights’ accommodation in double occ., 3 meals a day and drinks, 5 golf rounds, shared carts, tee-time bookings, airport transfers and taxes.

One of my favourites here is the Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol, mostly for its distinctive design, stretching over a mile along a coastline of craggy rock outcroppings and sun-washed shores. I also recommend the Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club for its two completely different nine-holes, the spectacular ocean views you’ll enjoy at every hole and the fantastic challenges that come with the dramatic elevation changes. Of course, these two courses are only the beginning. Given the beauty of this region, practically any course you choose is a sure winner. Your trip would not be complete without a catamaran excursion as you watch the sun set over the water in Cabo San Lucas. Extend your enjoyment by staying for a delectable meal on a terrace near the Marina, where the fish and seafood are absolutely exquisite. For a little more rest and relaxation, take in the endless white sandy beaches—the perfect place if you’re looking to recharge your batteries. If you do decide to hit the beach, take heed and don’t venture out in the water unless you’re a strong swimmer— the strong current can quickly take you by surprise! In short, Los Cabos is nothing short of heaven: consistently beautiful weather, incredible golf courses, amazing hotels, vibrant towns, and breathtaking scenery. What more could you ask for?

Hawaii The trip of a lifetime By Manon Lafontaine Special Contributor Based on an interview by Marie-Eve Jarry

had the opportunity to visit this amazing destination in the best possible way—one island at a time, one golf club at a time. A cruise is truly the best way to explore Hawaii. From Honolulu on the Island of Oahu, we made our way to the different main islands—Kauai, Big Island and Maui— during a week-long journey. This is an excellent way to make the most of your time, enjoy spectacular views, and play a few rounds of golf on both the Islands of Kauai and Big Island. Upon returning to Honolulu, we hopped on a plane towards the Island of Maui—an emerald-green island where spectacular gendrongolf

courses such as Kapalua Plantation, Wailea Emerald, the Makena and the Kaanapali family of courses await you. After this, we flew towards Lanai, a tiny private island of 3,100 inhabitants and only two Four Seasons resort complexes. The ultimate experience on this island is definitely a two-night stay at The Lodge at Koele. I won’t say any more about it—and, besides, mere words could not do it justice. It’s actually a little known place, but once you hear about it, you simply have to go! Here, you can play the Experience at Koele, located in the center of the island and the Challenge at Manele, which sits along the ocean. The latter is possibly one of the most beautiful courses I have ever played: the ocean and mountains provide absolutely breathtaking views, and that’s without even mentioning the abundance of vegetation that surrounds you. This course is definitely one for the bucket list! Upon my return to the Island of Lanai, we rented a car for a road trip to the northern portion of the Island of Oahu. You can choose between two golf courses at Turtle Bay Resort: the Fazio or the Palmer, both equally divine and located oceanside.

To finish the day off in style, I suggest you try the Ko’olau, a little farther east. This course is considered one of the most difficult in the world, with a slope of 153 and ravines between 150 and 170 yards. Simply amazing! You’ll be playing in the heart of a tropical forrest next to lush emerald-green cliffs. Absolutely stunning, to say the least! Make sure you save this course for last— playing a few others first will give you a much-needed chance to get warmed up! On a final note, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for putting your trust in me over the years. My job has always been to help make your fondest wishes come true and, as a travel lover myself, I could not have dreamed of a better job… or better customers. I truly hope that you continue to make your travel dreams come true, and that you always keep your thirst for discovery alive.* *Manon worked as a Golf Advisor at Gendron Travel for over 20 years, and is now enjoying a well-deserved retirement! Despite this, Manon happily continues to share her passion for golfing with us… and with you!

LEGENDS GOLF & RESORT Moorland By P. B. Dye

Myrtle Beach So much to offer By Tim Baines Sports Columnist for the Ottawa Sun © 2011, Sunmedia, Ottawa Sun

When you visit Legends Golf & Resort in Myrtle Beach, bring your clubs, a few outfits, and leave your problems at home. The resort staff is so attentive to all your needs that you won’t have to worry about a thing. With every round of golf you play on any of the three Legends courses (the two others are in the same area), you get a buffet breakfast, lunch and two draft beers or soft drinks, free of charge. Now that’s service!

The courses located directly on the property (Heathland, Moorland and Parkland) have a unique Scottish flair and are absolutely magnificent. The Legends also has two other courses: Oyster Bay, located just north of Myrtle Beach, and Heritage, to the south. In the evening, on the property itself and within walking distance of your condo, you can kick back and relax at the Ailsa Pub while you enjoy a delectable meal and icecold drinks—the perfect way to wrap up a great day of golf. And, if you’re in the mood, the pub also features a spa and pool, which you can enjoy on the back patio. The appeal of the golf courses is enough to make you want to visit South Carolina for the first time, but it is the hospitality and charm of its people that will have you going back time and time again.

Where golfing and history come together By Réal Labbé Journalist for Quebec City’s Le Soleil

Williamsburg

One of the biggest advantages of visiting Virginia is the fact that you can easily drive there in a single day. And, as you do, you can enjoy the gorgeous landscape along the way—from mountain views to endless oceanside beaches. Williamsburg’s location, nestled between the mountains and the sea, literally makes it the best of both worlds. And, having served as the backdrop for some of the Civil War’s greatest battles, Williamsburg’s boasts a historic district that will take visitors back in time, to an era when its taverns served as a major attraction for wartime clientele. You absolutely cannot visit Williamsburg without stopping in at one of these taverns to enjoy some of the great historical cuisine!

The unbeatable offer Fairfield inN & Suites

6 days / 5 nights / 5 rounds

INCLUDES: 5 nights’ accommodation in a standard room at Fairfield Inn & Suites, 5 rounds on the courses of your choice among the following courses: Brickshire Golf Club, Ford’s Colony Country Club (Blackheath – Blue Heron – Marsh Hawk), Stonehouse Golf Club and Royal New Kent Golf Course, breakfast at the hotel, lunches and 2 beers or soft drinks* and taxes. $555

Another advantage to choosing Virginia is the cooler weather (compared to down south!), and the endless number of golf courses to choose from. Whether you visit as a couple, in small groups or big groups, there is a great, reasonably priced option for everyone. Among the many courses available are three that are part of the Tradition Group— Stonehouse, Royal New Kent (a true Irish course featuring rolling hills and tall fescue grasses) and Brickshire—and three that belong to the Ford Colony group— Blackheath, Blue Heron and Marsh Hawk. You are sure to be impressed by any of these six amazing courses.

Golf reigns in the Magic Kingdom Interview with

Antoine Laroche Golf Products Director and Group Coordinator at Gendron Travel

By Eve Boissonnault Journalist and Author

While most people flock to Orlando with dreams of meeting Mickey Mouse and taking Diagon Alley to the world of Harry Potter, golf aficionados make their way to this sunny destination with golf bags in tow. Here are four key reasons why Orlando | Kissimmee is THE golfing destination par excellence in the U.S.

Reunion Resort Tradition Course By Jack Nicklaus

Strength in numbers The Orlando | Kissimmee region has no less than 170 top quality golf courses. It’s no wonder local residents often find themselves gracing the pages of major golfing magazines! This is the perfect place to experience golfing in all its splendour—in fact, Orlando is now to golf what Hollywood is to the movie industry. The Nicklaus, Palmer and Norman signature courses are seemingly endless. You will definitely need several trips down south to even get close to playing them all. And, even if there are lots of championship courses here, there are also plenty of public courses to choose from. If Orlando is good enough for Arnold (Palmer, that is!), then it certainly is good enough for any of you golfers out there!

Accessibility makes for enjoyable travel With countless direct flights from Montreal, Toronto or Ottawa you can make your way to the Orlando area in three short hours and hit the course for a round of golf the very same day. After arriving at the airport, a quick 20-minute ride in your rental car will get you to one of the gorgeous courses surrounding crystal waters, notably the Celebration Golf Club and the Reunion— two spectacular courses with firmly established reputations.

23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31

gendrongolf

More for your money When it comes to golf trips, Orlando is hard to beat. You won’t get this many nights and this many rounds of golf for the same price anywhere else. By far, this is the best value for your money when it comes to a Floridian destination—or any other U.S. destination for that matter! Pretty impressive, wouldn’t you say?

All the comforts of home Though Orlando is booming with nighttime entertainment, the warm Florida nights are even more enjoyable in a fully equippe and comfortable vacation house in the Kissimmee area. We promise you’ll feel right at home! Of course, before you know it, your weeklong vacation will be over and it will be time for you to head back home—even though we know you’d love to stay forever in the “Magic Kingdom of Golfing!”

A little luxury‌ California-style

The Lodge at Torrey Pines Located right on the Torrey Pines Golf Course, The Lodge is as luxurious and charming as it gets, thanks mainly to its turn-of-the-20th-century California Arts and Crafts architectural style, replete with mullions and transoms. Although built in 2002 and perfectly modern, The Lodge is permeated with a quaint rustic style that has earned it numerous architectural awards. The rooms are spacious and the service is impeccable. And, best of all, staying at The Lodge means you can benefit from a preferential tee-off time at this highly frequented course—one which generally requires reservations long in advance. gendrongolf

Golfing and discoveries

One of the great advantages of making San Diego your vacation destination is the fact that you can get from the course to the beach to the vibrant downtown core in mere minutes. Contrary to Los Angeles, San Diego’s big sister to the north, it is a sheer pleasure to discover all of the hidden gems along the Pacific.

Gaslamp District: nightlife, great food and baseball A magnificent open-air ballpark and home to the Padres, Petco Park is located near San Diego Bay in a completely revamped district. A good spot for a bird’s-eye view of the stadium is the Altitude Sky Lounge, which provides magnificent views of the Port of San Diego. If you’re in the mood for some fine dining, Searsucker is a sure bet. This hip bistro in the Gaslamp District is perfect for a fun-filled evening and some amazing food.

The ever-popular

Palm Springs... By Debbie Savoy Morel

La Quinta Resort & Club TPC Stadium Golf Course

Golf Director at Le Mirage Golf Club

With a unique decor of palm trees, mountains and desert, Palm Springs is to golfers what Disney World is to kids. This playground was discovered in the 1950s by Hollywood stars such as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. I personally enjoy it for the absolutely perfect weather. Also, the incredible choice of courses and tourist attractions makes Palm Springs a true paradise.

Dream weather With 200 days of sun every year, Palm Springs boasts consistently beautiful weather— perfectly warm, without the humidity. Of course, these conditions also have a greatly positive effect on one’s body, and usually mean greater flexibility and less aches and pains, making it perfect for golfers of all ages.

An abundance of quality courses Palm Springs, renowned for having top-quality courses, provides golfers of every type and skill level with countless options to choose from. What makes Palm Springs different from the rest is the multitude of championship courses it features. And, to boot, every single course here—all equally as gorgeous—offers breathtaking views and a great variety of challenge. So, as you can imagine, it’s quite difficult to have to pick a favourite. But, if I had to, two of the courses I would put at the top of the list are the La Quinta Resort, for its extensive services, and the SilverRock Golf Resort, for its picturesque views.

So much more than golfing… Contrary to many coveted golf vacation spots, Palm Springs is also a vibrant city alive with culture, entertainment and food. Enjoy a stroll along El Paseo—THE shopping destination, where you can also enjoy some delectable cuisine and wonderful art galleries. Palm Springs has got it all— and, trust me, you don’t want to miss any of it! Photo: Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism

Las Vegas and Mesquite An oasis of desert golf courses By Carlo Blanchard Golf Analyst for RDS and Golf Pro at Club de Golf Le Portage

With sky-high luxury hotels filled with thousands of rooms, ultra-modern casinos and an endless line-up of shows featuring the biggest names in show business, Las Vegas has absolutely everything you could dream of when it comes to entertainment—including tons of golfing options. gendrongolf

Las Vegas’ location in the heart of the Mojave Desert—an endless valley surrounded by enormous rock formations and purple-hued canyons—provides the most spectacular postcard-worthy vistas. This wonderful city is also one of the sunniest places on earth, making it a true golfer’s paradise. And let’s not forget the fact that Vegas has a very long list of amazing golf courses to choose from. Almost 50 in all! It’s always so incredible to see the sculpted emerald-green designs standing in such unbelievably sharp contrast to the surrounding desert and its vast mountains glowing under the rays of the brilliant Vegas sun.

Part of what makes a Vegas golf trip so appealing is the availability of direct flights. And then, of course, there is the vast array of high-end restaurants to choose from as well as the unbeatable nightlife. Here are just a few of the courses I suggest: my absolute favourite is the Bear's Best, a Jack Nicklaus creation. This particular course is a combination of some of Nicklaus’ best designs from throughout the U.S. and Mexico… and it is absolutely stunning! Other great choices include the Rio Secco, a wonderful mix of canyons and cactus, the TPC Las Vegas, a majestic course offering

A R IZONA

TSeven ucson must-visit courses By Daniel Melançon Sports Journalist for Salut Bonjour! and host of Golf Mag on TVA Sports

About 10 years ago, I made my way to Tucson, Arizona to enjoy my first real desert golfing vacation—and, I have to say, I have been itching to go back ever since!

Tucson gets more than 350 days of sunshine per year. And that’s precisely why I keep recommending this destination to those looking for some great golfing, a complete change of scenery, and great value for the money.

Ventana Canyon Golf Resort

Located at the heart of the Santa Catalina Mountains, the Ventana Canyon Resort features two beautiful Tom Fazio signature courses, the Mountain and the Canyon, which are challenging enough for golfers of every level. From the back tees, some of the targets will seem pretty hard to reach but, as long as you keep your ball in the fairway, you’ll be okay. The true challenge on these two courses is definitely the quick, firm and undulating greens, where your short game skills will be put to the test. Remember to bring your camera along so you can take a few snapshots of the Mountain’s unforgettable signature hole, a beautiful elevated Par 3 that plays across 107 yards.

2

Arizona National Golf Club

A visit to the Arizona National is the perfect opportunity to set foot on the fairways of a beautiful course where none other than Tiger Woods himself played his last moments as an amateur before hitting the professional circuit in 1996. Since renovated, the Arizona National is one place where you will definitely put your full arsenal of skills to good use. Slopes are the norm on this course, and the slightest deviation could do some serious damage to your score. The course’s slope rating of 143 is a good indicator of the challenge that awaits you at the heart of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The good news is you get to enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery in this part of the southwestern U.S.

The Golf Club at Vistoso

Contrary to other courses in the Tucson area, the Vistoso does indeed appear to be somewhat flatter than its significantly more elevated counterparts. However, on a target-style course such as this one, accuracy is still very much the name of the game! With endless hazards from start to finish, you’ll have to make sure you keep your eye on the prize and use your best strategies for every shot. Surrounded by majestic mountains, you’ll enjoy playing on the Vistoso’s immaculate greens, designed by Tom Weiskopf in 1995.

Perfect picture-postcard memories Island Golf Club in order to truly appreciate its astounding beauty. Watch out for the unbelievably narrow and rather intimidating 14th hole, only 17 yards at its widest point!

A country alive with tales of leprechauns and Guinness on almost every street corner, Ireland is also home to golfing that is unlike anything else you’ve experienced—so rich in history and quality that you are not likely to ever forget it. From the fabulous courses to the fine hotels and restaurants to the superbly charming Irish people themselves, it all comes together to create perfect picture-postcard memories that will last a lifetime. Ireland has a vast selection of links and traditional courses considered among the best in the world, making it an extremely affordable alternative to Scotland for firsttimers. There are definitely a few courses you absolutely must try—the first of which is the Island Golf Club. This particular course provides a superb links experience, and is where Darren Clarke earned the professional record of 63 during the Irish PGA Championship. Surrounded by the Atlantic on three sides and enormous dunes to the east, you simply must walk the

While in Ireland, you will also want to play Druids Glen, otherwise known as The Augusta of Europe. This somewhat more traditional course features a fabulous design and is a sheer joy. Note that, while golf carts are available to you throughout Ireland, most courses encourage walking. A trip to Dublin would be incomplete without a few nights spent in the Temple Bar District—a playground replete with bars and incredibly talented street musicians. The Irish are extremely proud of their country, and always roll out the red carpet for their visitors. Expect nothing short of the royal treatment—from the moment you set foot on Irish soil until you board the plane for your return flight. Of course, easy access is another reason why Ireland is so appealing. Direct flights from Montreal or Toronto make the overseas trip all the more enjoyable.

INCLUDES: Round trip flight to Dublin*, 3 nights at Druids Glen Resort in Wicklow, 2 rounds at Druids Glen Golf Club and The European Golf Club, 3 nights at Mount Falcon Country House Hotel 4* in Ballina, 2 rounds at Carne Golf Links and Enniscrone Golf Club, 4 nights at Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links in Dublin, 3 rounds at The Island Golf Club, County Louth Golf Club and Portmarnock Golf Club, breakfasts, tee-time bookings, the services of an on-site representative, mid-sized car rental (2 pers.) and taxes. Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol region boasts the highest concentration of golf courses within the entire continent of Europe. In fact, Málaga— also known as the City of Paradise, is a European tourist hub where golfing is a key focus. And, with the Euro currently at the lowest it has been in twelve years, Costa del Sol is obviously an appealing choice this season. Another clear advantage is the option of direct flights from Montreal to Málaga—which will get you on the greens sooner. gendrongolf

One of the most beautiful courses in the area is La Quinta, with its impeccable mountain decor. The very popular Sotogrande, Alhauríin, Alcaidesa and Guadalmina are also highly recommended. These tactically challenging courses are an absolute visual pleasure. Two other unbeatable options are the Marbella Golf Resort and the neighbouring Monte Mayor. These particular courses owe their charm and difficulty to dramatically alternating tree-lined fairways and wide-open spaces that create a false sense of security. You will also want to check out the magnificent La Cala. Incredibly technical, this charming course features a stunning clubhouse that stands proud at the centre (literally!) of all the beauty. Costa del Sol is one place you absolutely must visit!.

$2,195 / pers. in double occ. Also available from TORONTO and the UNITED STATES with stopover. Price on request. Prices are valid for a stay from Oct. 5th to 13th, 2015. Add the Finca Cortesin Golf Club (host to the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009, 2011 & 2012), for an additional fee. Other dates, packages and accommodation available on request.

From mountains to sea Golfing continues to grow and expand in Morocco, with the main concentrations of courses being located in the Ochre City, Marrakech—located at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains—and Agadir, a coveted seaside location where golfing has become a definite tourist attraction. Golfers visiting Marrakech now have a greater selection of courses than ever. In addition to the already-established La Palmeraie, Amelkis and Golf Royal Marrakech clubs, the city now boasts three new modern options—Samanah, Assoufid and Golf Al-Maaden. After a great day of golf, it’s time to explore all that the Ochre City has to offer. Bustling Jemaa el-Fna, one of Marrakech’s famous souks, is a great place to start. There are also many accommodation and dining options

Farther west, along the Atlantic coast, Agadir offers countless hotels looking onto the gorgeous sandy beaches. What could be better than sticking your feet in the sand or relaxing by the pool after a great round of golf? Now that’s life! Agadir, for its part, has a much more modern flair, and golfing has developed substantially here in the last few years. You can choose from Golf de l’Océan (27 holes), Golf des Dunes (27 holes), Golf du Soleil (36 holes) and Golf Royal (9 holes) as well as last November’s addition, Golf de Tazegzout.

Dubai | Abu Dhabi Golfing in the Land of a Thousand and One Nights By Antoine Laroche Golf Products Director and Group Coordinator at Gendron Travel

Thanks to the millions of dollars they have invested, Dubai and neighbouring Abu Dhabi have created their very own golfing paradise that appeals to both the pros—particularly European PGA players—and amateurs. In addition to featuring a dozen or so courses designed by the greatest names in the golfing industry, the clubhouses on these resorts are like the most stunning royal palaces. Thanks to its emerald jewels and golden sand traps, the United Arab Emirates now ranks among the Top 10 best golfing destinations in the world according to KPMG. In fact, it far outranks even the U.S., England and the Caribbean. And the best news of all? The weather in Dubai is truly exceptional—they only get about 7 days of rain per year! Talk about a golfer’s dream!

Since the early 2000s, Dubai has been impressing tourists from around the globe with its stunning architecture and majestic hotels unlike any other in the world. Needless to say, Dubai has also worked its charm on golfers who get to enjoy spectacular desert courses.

We reserve the right to make changes after publication in order to correct errors or omissions, or for any other reason beyond our control. Updates: gendrongolf.com/conditions

PACKAGE PRICES Prices on our Web site and in our Golf magazine are quoted in Canadian dollars and are based on availability at the time of reservation. Prices include taxes (GST, QST and service fees) and exclude the contribution to the Compensation fund for customers of travel agents (calculated at a rate of $1 for every $1,000 of services purchased), which must be paid by Québec residents. Flights included as part of our packages are in Economy class. Luggage fees are not included in the price of our packages. Costs may vary depending on chosen airline and are payable at the airport. Insurance, taxes and surcharges applicable on car rentals are not included and are payable at destination. For updated pricing after early booking ends, visit gendrongolf.com. Prices may change without notice. In the event of discrepency between this magazine and system prices, the latter shall prevail.

RESERVATIONS/SECURITY DEPOSIT We recommend that you reserve your stay at least 45 days before your chosen departure date. A security deposit of 25% (not including insurance) is required upon reservation. For payments made by cheque, no reservation will be confirmed until the cheque has cleared and we have received the full deposit. Please note that cheques will not be accepted in the case of reservations for departures taking place within 30 days or less.

FINAL PAYMENT To guarantee the price of your flight, you must pay the air travel portion in full upon reservation. The balance of the payment must be received at least 45 days before your departure date, otherwise Gendron Travel reserves the right to cancel said reservation without prior notification and without any possible legal recourse, and will retain a cancellation fee. For reservations made 45 days or less before the departure date, payment must be made in full at the time of reservation. In the case of cruises, final payment must be received 90 days before the departure date. Exceptionally, nonrefundable final payments for the following group departures are due 60 days prior to departure date: Meliá Las Américas (Oct. 31st to Nov. 7th, 2015), Grand Bahia Principe Coba (Nov. 8th to 15th, 2015) and Meliá Vacation Club Cozumel (January 15th to 22nd, 2016).

RESERVATION FEES For all reservations made with other suppliers independent from Gendron Travel such as Air Transat Holidays,.Nolitours, TMR, Sunwing, Air Canada Vacations, the following fees apply: Customer file fees $25 + tx per file (valid for 4 persons or less). Supplement of $5 + tx per additional person. Tee time reservation fee $5 + tx per round per person up to a maximum of 6 rounds.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENT By providing a credit card number to a travel agent, either verbally or in writing, the customer agrees to respect the present terms and conditions and authorizes that a security deposit and/or the purchase transaction be charged to said credit card. Gendron Travel may require written confirmation from the customer stating that this credit card can be used without the customer’s signature.

UNUSED SERVICES No refunds will be provided for services that are unused or cancelled after your departure or as a result of circumstances beyond our control.

TRAVEL INSURANCE Gendron Travel strongly recommends that its customers purchase travel insurance when reserving their trip, most notably insurance covering trip cancellation, damages and baggage loss as well as insurance covering medical and hospitalization costs abroad and, lastly, car rental insurance. Customers who are already insured through their credit card, their group work insurance, or through any other form of personal insurance are responsible for understanding the conditions of their existing contract

and shall not hold Gendron Travel responsible in any way for any aspect of their travel insurance. Customers are invited to consult their travel agent for more information on travel insurance.

CANCELLATION FEES 45 days or more before departure: total deposit. Less than 45 days before departure: total cost of package, including all taxes. Please refer to the Final Payment section for the following groups: Meliá Las Américas (Oct. 31st to Nov. 7th, 2015), Grand Bahia Principe Coba (Nov. 8th to 15th, 2015) and Meliá Vacation Club Cozumel (January 15th to 22nd, 2016).

CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY The customer is responsible for informing the travel agent of any condition (physical, health, pregnancy, etc.) that may restrict their ability to travel in any way whatsoever as stipulated in Article 28 of the LPC.

INCREASE IN PRICE AND COSTS In the event of an increase in taxes, charges or other fees authorized by a recognized public authority, prices are subject to increase. Gendron Travel reserves the right to increase these fees and costs in the event of changes in the exchange rate, the price of gas, taxes or any other applicable fees. If the price increases as a result of changes in the carrier’s fuel surcharge or a higher exchange rate (where the exchange rate applicable 45 days before the provision of Services increased more than 5% since the date on which the contract was signed); and/or in the event of a price increase, without taking into consideration increases in the Quebec sales tax or Canada’s Goods and Services tax that are equal or higher than 7% of the price of services, the customer may cancel the services (and be fully and immediately refunded for said services) or opt for a substitution offering similar services. If the cost of these similar services is higher than the originally reserved services, the customer is required to pay the difference. No increase in price may occur in the 30 days preceding the date upon which the services are to be rendered. Price reductions resulting from promotions or decisions made by Gendron Travel apply only to new reservations. To obtain the most up-to-date prices, please contact one of our travel agents. No modifications will be made to prior reservations.

RESPONSIBILITY Gendron Travel is responsible for offering all of the services described on its Web site and in the present magazine. If, for any reason whatsoever, the stipulated services cannot be offered, Gendron Travel will offer the customer services of a comparable nature. Gendron Travel reserves the right to cancel or modify a trip at any time. The passenger waives all claims of any nature or any kind against Gendron Travel for loss, theft, accidents or damage. Gendron Travel will not be held liable for the closing of facilities, strikes, bankruptcies, political crises, terrorist attacks, bad weather, the quality of services provided by suppliers or overselling by the latter, the traveler’s failure to obtain all necessary travel documents, flight delays or any other circumstance or condition beyond Gendron Travel’s control that may prevent the normal and anticipated activities of the trip.

RESERVATION CHANGES The following fees will apply to any and all changes made (room type, hotel and car): 30 days or more before departure date, $25 per person; 29 days or less before departure date, 100% of total package cost. Name and/or date changes will be considered a cancellation (see paragraph entitled Cancellation Fees). Golf tee time reservations: a fee of $20 will be applied for any changes made to a reserved tee time.

GUIDED GROUP TRIPS If the minimum number of passengers required for any of the group trips advertised in this magazine is not attained, Gendron Travel reserves the right to cancel the trip. If, however, the customer would still like to take the trip on his own, the package cost may be higher or lower depending on the new price in effect at that particular time. If the trip is to be cancelled for the reasons stated above and the customer chooses not to travel on his own, he will be reimbursed in full.

PASSPORT A valid Canadian passport is your only proof of Canadian citizenship and is required any time you travel outside of the country. Some countries require that your passport be valid for 6 months beyond your date of entry.

FLIGHTS AND AIR CARRIERS Changes : Flights are conducted in accordance with the applicable tariff of the air carrier and pursuant to the regulations set out by the Canadian Transportation Agency. Consolidations and changes in the published schedule, aircraft type, days of operation, air carrier providing air transportation and flight itinerary may be undertaken at any time and without prior notice, in accordance with the air carrier’s tariff. Schedule check and connecting flights: Flight schedules, even when provided on a ticket, are tentative and are therefore subject to change without notice. Changes may occur for a number of reasons, often beyond the control of the air carrier or Gendron Travel. Any customer who has purchased a package or flight with Gendron Travel is entirely responsible for verifying his flight schedule directly with the air carrier in the 24-hour period immediately prior to the departure and return date. Connecting flights are reserved at the customer’s risk and customers are entirely responsible for ensuring that they have adequate time to reach and board their connecting flight. Gendron Travel will not be held liable for any changes made to flight schedules or missed flight connections, including any incidental or consequential damages or any other additional fees (most notably loss of revenue or salary, loss of vacation days or any other fees) incurred as a result of the foregoing. Airport Check-in: Gendron Travel recommends that customers arrive at the air carrier airport check-in counter at least three (3) hours before their scheduled departure time, failing which their reservation may be cancelled and their seat may be assigned to another customer, with no right of recourse. Baggage: Air carriers set individual rules and regulations regarding baggage number, weight and size. Customers are responsible for consulting their travel agent or air carrier for information on the applicable restrictions and applicable fees for their particular air carrier. Other air carrier conditions and limitations of liability: The limits of the air carrier’s liability with relation to the loss of and damage to baggage is established by the provisions of the Montreal Convention or the Warsaw Convention, depending on the case, by the applicable tariffs of the air carrier, as well as the contract appearing on the passenger ticket, the boarding pass and baggage check receipt, and any government regulations. Once submitted to and approved by the federal authorities, any amendment or change to the air carrier’s general terms and conditions of carriage are effective immediately, without additional public notification. Plane tickets that remain unused, in whole or in part, on the indicated dates, will not be honored for a subsequent flight or reimbursed. Seat assignment: Unless already pre-assigned, aircraft seating is assigned by staff at the air carrier’s airport check-in counter. Certain fees not included as part of the package price may be charged directly by the air carrier.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS A valid Canadian passport is your only proof of Canadian citizenship and is required any time you travel outside of the country. Some countries require that your passport be valid for 6 months beyond your date of entry. It is the customer’s responsibility to obtain, at his own cost, all documents required by relevant government authorities and to adhere to all applicable laws. Certain countries can require that a visa be obtained from the Embassy (at the customer’s cost). A parent travelling alone with a child under the age of 18 may be required to show written notarized consent signed by the other parent authorizing said travel. The customer is responsible for asking his travel agent about all required travel documents and ensuring that he has them in his possession before his departure. The carrier and any competent authority may refuse to allow the customer to board if he does not have all of the required documents in his possession. In this case, the customer has no recourse and will not be reimbursed. Gendron Travel will not be held liable for the information or assistance provided by any of its employees with regards to required travel documents or compliance with the law in this respect, regardless of whether this information was provided verbally,

in writing or by any other means. The customer may also be refused entry into a country even if he has all of the required travel documents in his possession. Gendron Travel will in no way be held liable for the consequences suffered by any customer who does not possess the required documents or who fails to comply with any given applicable law. It is essential that you verify all of the travel documents you have received in order to ensure that they correspond exactly to the reservations you have made. Should you notice an error in any document you receive, or should you have any questions pertaining to your departure or your trip, please consult your travel agent. Departure tax and tourist card: Depending on your destination, you may be required to pay a departure tax and/or tourist card immediately on site.
