2019

artistic treasures, ancient civilizations, natural wonders and a world of discovery Voyages to Antiquity’s 2019 European cruise program masterfully blends perennial favorites and thrilling new adventures. In addition to Mediterranean voyages galore and unmissable discoveries of Iceland and the Norwegian Fjords, we are delighted to be returning to the historic resort towns of the Black Sea in 2019 after several seasons away. Aegean Odyssey then sails the Baltic for the very first time, revealing the sublime grandeur and artistic treasures of St Petersburg, Tallinn and the Scandinavian capitals. And she also makes a maiden sailing to the North Cape, the legendary “Land of the Midnight Sun” high in the Arctic Circle, to experience the natural world at its wildest and most spectacular.

spring in the mediterranean

ancient cultures and fascinating history crossing the “middle sea” east and west in the warmth of spring

4

What could be more enticing than Spring in the Mediterranean, cruising leisurely from city to iconic city, discovering masterpieces of art and architecture, immersing yourself in colorful cultures and sampling diverse and delicious food and drink?

twice-besieged stronghold comes to life amongst the castles and ramparts of glorious Valletta. Further stops are made in Crete, another island of enormous historical significance, and pretty Santorini, star of many a cruise postcard.

After her exotic Winter season, Aegean Odyssey finds herself on the southern shores of Spain in Picasso’s Malaga. The first Spring cruise is a return to her home port of Athens by way of two of the Mediterranean’s most enthralling islands. In Sicily, great temples, ancient theaters and monumental places of worship inspire admiration. In Malta, the history of this

athens, classical greece and the greek islands The poet John Milton called Athens "the eye of Greece, mother of arts and eloquence," and it was here in the 5th century BC that the genius and creativity of the ancient Greek world shone with unprecedented brilliance. This was the time of the great statesman Pericles, who commissioned the construction

of the Acropolis, the dramatists Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripedes and, of course, the philosopher Socrates. After a wonder-filled exploration of Athens, you’ll head out of town to the tranquility of the Greek countryside with visits to the elegant ruins of Delphi, Agamemnon’s ancient capital of Mycenae and the grandeur of the amphitheater at Epidaurus. Cruising the Greek Islands then offers a wonderful contrast and, as you sail through the sparkling waters of the Aegean, you have time to meet your fellow passengers, get to know the ship, and unwind into life on board.

As well as stunning natural beauty, the isles of Greece offer some of the most impressive sites from this region's rich history. On Delos, legendary birthplace of Apollo and the paramount religious sanctuary of the ancient Greek world, you can stroll along the Terrace of the Lions and explore the classic Doric Temple of the Delians. By contrast, nearby Mykonos offers the more sybaritic experience of traditional tavernas and bustling shops. Crete is a delightful place to enjoy the festivities of Greek Easter. Charming Patmos, the Crusader stronghold of Rhodes, spectacular Santorini, and the conical volcano-island of Nisyros also feature.

new return to the black sea The Black Sea has been off the cruise map for some years, but Voyages to Antiquity is delighted to be among the first cruise operators to return to this magnificent and formerly very popular region. Calls are scheduled at the Bulgarian resort town of Varna, famed for the priceless 6,000-yearold “Gold of Varna” discovered in a nearby necropolis; at the Romanian city of Constanza, with a rich and cosmopolitan history of its own; and at Odessa, where splendid 19th century architecture and the Potemkin Steps, immortalized in the film “The Battleship Potemkin,” await discovery.

This itinerary also includes a tour of ancient Athens, the breathtaking Meteora “Monasteries in the Sky” and the Greek islands of Lemnos, Skiathos and Patmos, where the apostle John is said to have received a divine vision and written the Book of Revelation.

of the greatest treasures of antiquity, or sip a Campari overlooking the stunning Amalfi Coast. Whether you are marveling at Pisa’s famous tower or wandering through the extensive ruins of tragic Pompeii, the vibrancy of Italy and its way of life will entrance you.

Islands of France, Italy and Spain, from wildly beautiful Corsica to picturesque Elba, present yet other engaging facets of Mediterranean life.

la dolce vita, spectacular cities and enchanting isles

Furthermore, from the astonishingly wellpreserved grandeur of Imperial Rome to the Renaissance splendor of Florence, Italy’s great cities are travel icons in their own right. Few forget their first sight of the majestic Colosseum and the sprawling Roman Forum or the great Florentine palaces and their numerous masterpieces of western art.

The Spring season concludes in some style as Aegean Odyssey reaches Spain, visiting Malaga, the colonial curiosity of Gibraltar and historic Cadiz, before sailing the delightful Guadalquivir River into the heart of Seville, recently acclaimed “Best City to Visit” by Lonely Planet.

No other country combines the best of art, culture and gastronomy with quite the same panache as Italy. Here you can enjoy a scoop of the most delicious gelato in the world as you admire some

summer in northern europe

NATURAL WONDERS AND NEW ADVENTURES

heading north for high summer from southern spain to the north cape Sailing from Seville and along Europe’s Atlantic Coast, Aegean Odyssey makes stops in Lisbon – the grand ‘City of the Explorers,’ Oporto, for sampling delicious port wine, and Vigo, gateway to the extraordinary cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Then, following a tranquil cruise along the River Gironde, she berths in the center of Bordeaux, a city rightly regarded as the wine capital of the world, producing some of the greatest vintages – the perfect opportunity to taste and learn about the vineyards.

6

Northward still, the ship puts in at historic La Rochelle and the delightful Channel Island of Guernsey. A call at the pretty harbor town of Honfleur in Normandy precedes our arrival in London, where a 2-night hotel stay includes a cruise on the River Thames and time for the museums, shops and theaters in the British capital.

new land of the midnight sun

new great cities of the baltic

At the North Cape of Norway, the only land between you and the North Pole is a scattering of Arctic islands. This is nature at its most pristine and majestic, illuminated by 24 hours of sunlight at the height of summer. For the very first time in 2019, Voyages to Antiquity is featuring a program sailing north from London to this remote and beautiful place, by way of the rugged Shetlands and some delightful Norwegian fjords and ports, including picturesque Bergen, Alesund and the spectacular, remote Lofoten Islands. The cruise concludes in charming Copenhagen.

Also for the first time, we will be offering a circuit of the Baltic Sea, taking in the highlights of some of Europe’s greatest maritime cities. Perhaps the highlight is St Petersburg, the mesmerizing city of Peter the Great. Many cruise operators offer one or occasionally two days to appreciate its treasures; we spend three days there, exploring awe-inspiring royal palaces, world class collections of art and uniquely glorious architectural marvels such as the brightly-hued Church of the Spilled Blood. Scandinavian capitals Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm are elegant and compact,

iceland: natural glory and the epic story

with a heritage that fascinates. Quirky Helsinki has a laid-back rhythm, and near neighbor Tallinn is quite simply magical, with its onion-domed churches and mighty ramparts. Finally, stops in Poland and Germany invite exploration of historic Gdansk and vibrant Berlin.

With its serene fjords, rainbow-arced waterfalls, volcanic peaks, roaring geysers and vast glaciers, Iceland puts on perhaps the planet’s greatest natural show, delivering spectacle after breathtaking, life-affirming spectacle. With Voyages to Antiquity, you’ll see islands of lava in Heimaey and the meeting of tectonic plates in UNESCOlisted Thingvellir National Park, whalefilled bays in the north and the geothermal lagoons of the interior. No wonder Iceland inspired the semi-fantastical epics considered among the greatest literary works of the medieval world. There are myriad opportunities too, to appreciate the birdlife that calls Iceland home, from gannets to puffins.

the norwegian fjords Cruise from Copenhagen to the beautiful and dramatic coastline of Norway on the western border of Scandinavia, a captivating region famous for its intricate network of cliff-lined saltwater inlets (fjords) crisscrossing the landscape. These breathtaking waterways have long inspired artists and writers, including the 19th century Norwegian Romantic Adelsteen Normann, whose splendid paintings of the fjords were largely responsible for their popularity. Aegean Odyssey cruises Sognefjord, Geirangerfjord and Hardangerfjord, and this program also takes in the stunning Flam mountain railway, pretty Bergen and the Scottish capital, Edinburgh.

the faroes and orkneys As the ship heads back to Britain, she calls at the delightful harbor of Torshavn in the Faroe Islands, and Kirkwall in the Orkneys, where there are plenty of prehistoric ruins to discover, including the Standing Stones of Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar, a huge ceremonial stone circle dating back almost five millennia, as well as the most complete Neolithic village in Europe, Skara Brae.

7

THE MEDITERRANEAN in fall

RIVIERAS, ISLANDS AND ANCIENT sites aegean odyssey heads south for fall sunshine Having enjoyed the temperate climate of northern Europe during high summer, Aegean Odyssey then heads back south to the Mediterranean and the extraordinary civilization of ancient Greece. The program begins with a journey from London to Lisbon including such unforgettable attractions as Paris, Bordeaux and Santiago de Compostela – and, taking advantage of the ship’s small size, river cruising along the Seine and the Gironde. This is followed by a crossing of the “Middle Sea” from Lisbon to Rome on a voyage packed with highlights, from the jet-set resort towns of Monte Carlo and Portofino to the medieval splendor of Carcassonne and Avignon, the Renaissance treasures of Florence and Pisa to the Gothic majesty of Barcelona.

8

From the ancient wonderland and ‘Eternal City’ of Rome, she sails south for delightful Sorrento, the poignant, perfectly-preserved remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum, which perished in the same Vesuvius eruption in 79AD, the iconic Amalfi Coast and the great temples of Paestum. Cruising past another great Mediterranean volcano (the island of Stromboli) and through the Strait of Messina, Aegean Odyssey arrives on the shores of the quintessential “melting pot” island of Sicily, with its marvelous ancient ruins, such as the hillside theater of Taormina, an enthralling culture and sublime cuisine.

venice and the adriatic coast

tranquility of the evening, when the day-trippers have departed.

The slim Adriatic Sea is fringed with unmissable sights north, east and west. Foremost is ‘La Serenissima’ herself, Venice. Described by Erica Jong as “the city of mirrors, the city of mirages, at once solid and liquid, at once air and stone,” Venice is breathtaking, magical and a little unreal in the best possible way. Many cruises only offer a brief stop in this enchanting place, but our itineraries include an overnight stay on board, inviting you to appreciate its canals, shops and churches in the

After a visit to Urbino, birthplace of Raphael and one of the lesser-known artistic powerhouses of Italy, Aegean Odyssey skirts this storied coastline southeast to Croatia. In Split, the vast Palace of Diocletian, 3rd century Roman emperor, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in constant use, as it now comprises about half of the Old Town; its passageways housing myriad tiny shops, and the emperor’s mighty mausoleum now the Cathedral of St Domnius. A little further down the coast is Korcula, a characterful

island said to have been the birthplace of legendary explorer Marco Polo, and further still the stunning walled city of Dubrovnik, described by George Bernard Shaw as “paradise on Earth.” Indeed, it is hard to imagine any traveler becoming jaded by

the city’s gleaming marble streets, Baroque buildings and charming, friendly people.

classical greece and her islands

The advantages of Aegean Odyssey’s small size again become apparent as she cruises Montenegro’s dramatic and beautiful Kotor Bay, a deep-water fjord carving its way 20 miles through the Dinaric Alps. Following a stop in another fascinating but little-visited Classical site – Albania’s Butrint – she finds herself back in Greek waters, putting in at four stops en route to Athens, with the chance to experience Olympia, where the ancient games took place, the Venetian castles of Pylos, unspoilt Hydra and the spectacular medieval town of Monemvasia.

Comprising our Fall grand finale are two Greek adventures par excellence. No operator does Greek cruising better than Voyages to Antiquity, with established, endlessly engaging guest lecturers, comprehensive shore excursions and land tours, and the very best travel services.

Painting by Robert G. Lloyd

Begin with a five-day overland exploration of the temples of Athens’ Acropolis, not least the Parthenon, acclaimed as the greatest expression of ancient Greece’s “Golden Age,” along with the richlyfrescoed Byzantine Monastery of Osios

Loukas, the majestically-situated site of the Delphic Oracle, Agamemnon’s city of Mycenae and the 14,000-seat 2nd century BC theater at Epidaurus, with acoustics so perfect you can hear a pin drop from the highest tier. Then it is on to no fewer than seven uniquely interesting Greek Islands. Discover remnants of the Bronze Age Minoan civilization in Santorini and Crete, the ruins of sacred Delos, the volcanic landscapes of Nisyros, tranquil Mykonos and the Crusader history of Rhodes.

Ocean and river cruising aboard Aegean Odyssey

Enjoy the casual elegance and superb service

Voyages to Antiquity prides itself on the detail and planning of these cruises. Our aim is to offer an insight into the regions you will visit, blending an incredible wealth of culture with scenic beauty as you sail in comfort and enjoy the impeccable service on board.

On days at sea you can relax in the sun, dip in the pool, find a shady spot with a good book, or take in a lecture. There is also a daily program of activities including informal cocktail parties, and during days at sea, quizzes, games and social events.

With an average of only 350 passengers, our ship is large enough to cruise great oceans, yet small enough to visit less crowded harbors and sail closer to the coast, enabling you to appreciate the magical views. She also has the ability to navigate upriver allowing us to berth right in the heart of Seville in Spain.

In the evenings, relax to the sounds of our string trio, pianist and vocalist, enjoy dancing before and after dinner, or occasionally some visiting local entertainment. There is no casino and no disco. The officers’ cocktail party is casual and without the usual formalities.

See pages 56-65 for details of life on board. If you want to see the world without having to endlessly pack and unpack, then cruising is for you. And, if you dislike the idea of traveling with hordes of people, then Aegean Odyssey is the ship for you. It’s easy to get to know your fellow passengers and make lifelong friends.

Open seating dining – wine included with evening meal With our open seating dining policy, you can choose when, where and with whom to dine, while our resort casual dress code means you don’t need to pack so many clothes. Wherever we cruise, we do not think it appropriate to serve dinner without wine. Wines are sourced from Italy, France, Spain or Greece and are included. Other vintages are available at reasonable prices. Then, when it’s time to sleep, you are never far from the creature comforts and tranquility of your cabin or stateroom. Sweet dreams!

Exciting destinations – unique experiences

Included hotel stays with city sightseeing

Sightseeing excursions and land tours are included in the fare

All of our voyages have been meticulously planned by Voyages to Antiquity staff alongside noted experts on the natural world, explorers, archaeologists and historians. Many years of experience tells us that combining the best of cruising with land tours is the ideal way to explore these fascinating sites and get the most value from your chosen itinerary.

Voyages to Antiquity places great emphasis on the quality of accommodation ashore. We have selected some of the best 4- and 5-star hotels for your included land stays.

Shore excursions are included in virtually every port of call – in the few cases where they are not, it’s because we feel that your time ashore is best spent exploring on your own. As well as giving you a choice of included excursions in certain places, additional visits will be offered at a supplementary cost. Our sightseeing programs are outstanding but can be strenuous; a reasonable level of fitness is, therefore, required. Our Cruise Guides and on-board Daily Journal will indicate the level of fitness required on any given day.

In the Spring and Fall of 2019, Aegean Odyssey cruises the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, and during the mid-summer months heads for more northern waters. We are delighted to offer some new and exciting itineraries to the Baltic Capitals and the Land of the Midnight Sun, plus new ports and countries such as Tarragona in Spain and Copenhagen in Denmark. Grand Voyages – travel further, save even more Our itineraries are all designed to make combining two departures into one unforgettable trip easy. These extended Grand Voyages not only mean you get to experience more of the world’s greatest wonders, they also represent outstanding value – see pages 50-53 for details.

In Rome, the Excelsior opens onto one of Rome’s prestigious streets, the Via Veneto, and the Altis Avenida in Lisbon is located on Restauradores Square in the heart of the city. In Athens, the Grande Bretagne is a grand hotel in the finest tradition with views of the floodlit Acropolis from the roof garden. The same view can be seen from the King George, one of Athens’ most prestigious hotels located in the heart of the city. In Seville, the 5-star Grand Melia Colon is a haven of luxury set in the historical and cultural heart of the city, and the Melia Sevilla is in a great location near the Plaza de Espana and all the major sights. For a full description of the hotels we use, please see pages 54,55. Don’t forget that during your preor post-cruise hotel stays, breakfast, sightseeing, transfers and baggage handling are all included. And, when touring outside of Athens, all meals are also included.

Individual QuietVox headsets On shore excursions from the ship, the expert guides will share their knowledge with the group using QuietVox. Through your individual headset, these devices allow you to hear the tour leader clearly even at the busiest sites. Voyages to Antiquity was one of the first cruise lines to operate this service. We trust this means that you won’t miss a thing and your visits to these wonderful places will be as memorable and exciting as possible.

celebrated guest speakers on board Find out more about the fascinating places you will visit Central to the Voyages to Antiquity cruise experience, 2-3 guest speakers accompany every departure. They may be academics, broadcasters, journalists, authors, politicians or even generals, but they will all be pre-eminent in their profession and expert in their field. 6-9 talks per cruise, 45 minutes each, is the norm, often focusing on history, archaeology, art and mythology, as you might expect, but also on more unusual subjects such as botany and viticulture. Talks are delivered in the Ambassador Lounge with a host of visual aids (music, video and high quality maps) and recorded so passengers can catch up at their leisure if they are not able to attend in person. These lectures are specifically designed to complement shore excursions, not simply repeat or pre-empt the insight presented by VTA’s excellent local guides. Here is a selection of the expert guest speakers you may encounter on your Voyage to Antiquity.

Eleftherios Venizelos who, prior to becoming Prime Minister of Greece, was instrumental in the island’s struggle against the Ottomans.

In the island’s capital, Palermo, you will see Monreale Cathedral, one of the most beautiful Norman churches in Italy, as well as the magnificent Roman and Arabesque synthesis of the Benedictine cloisters. Your final port-of-call in Sicily is Catania, for the magnificent Greek theater, or you can choose to visit the Greek theater of Taormina, with Mount Etna as a backdrop.

The heyday of Minoan civilization (2000-1600BC) was marked by the construction of many great palaces, the best known being Knossos on the island of Crete. Excavations began here in 1899 by the British archaeologist, Sir Arthur Evans, who controversially “restored” the palace with his own eccentric ideas of Minoan interior design.

One of the most wonderful sights in the Mediterranean greets our arrival into the spectacular Grand Harbor of Valletta in Malta. Founded by the Knights of St John in 1566, the island’s capital city boasts the

Baroque St John’s Co-Cathedral and the magnificent Palace of the Grand Masters.

THE GREEK ISLANDS OF CRETE & SANTORINI Coastal Chania in Crete has a charming archaeological museum inside the Venetian church of San Francesco. It is also close to the tomb of the island’s national hero,

From Crete, you’ll cruise to Santorini for a visit to the Minoan settlement of Akrotiri. Dating from the 16thcentury BC, this ancient city was wonderfully preserved under volcanic ash. The island also has some stunning picture-postcard

villages, including the whitewashed houses and famously blue-domed churches of Oia. Alternatively you can combine Oia with a visit to the Argyros Winery.

CLASSICAL ATHENS After disembarking Aegean Odyssey in Piraeus, you will be transferred to your five-star hotel in Athens for a two-night stay that features the city’s most famous landmark, the Acropolis, which represents the most magnificent achievements of Athenian culture during the “Golden Age” of 447-438BC. Alternatively, combine the Byzantine Museum and the Monastery of Kaisariani, with its fine frescoes and elegant gardens. There’s also the option of visiting the National Archaeological Museum.

from 330BC. During your time here, walk the Sacred Way, following in the footsteps of thousands of pilgrims who came to consult the Oracle. For the final part of your land tour you will then visit Mycenae, the capital of a civilization which dominated the eastern Mediterranean from the 16th to the 13th centuries BC, followed by the ruins of Epidaurus, where the magnificent theater is still in use today.

SANTORINI & CRETE Boarding Aegean Odyssey, your cruise begins with Santorini, where the newly reopened Minoan settlement of Akrotiri is a highlight. The island also has some splendid picturepostcard villages to see, including the whitewashed houses and famously blue-domed churches of Oia.

Arrive in Heraklion, the capital of Crete, for a panoramic tour through the city and some free time for a stroll, before moving to the unique village of Arolithos, which has been designed to recreate life on the island as it would have been in centuries past. Here you will enjoy a traditional Greek Easter lunch, accompanied by an entertaining folklore show. Agios Nikolaos, overlooking the beautiful curve of Mirabello Bay, is your starting point for another pleasant journey into the Cretan countryside. Along the way stop at the medieval Eastern Orthodox Keras Monastery, then arrive at the village of Seli for refreshments at a local tavern and some breathtaking views of the Lasithi Plateau, which is filled with hundreds of picturesque windmills.

CRUISING THE DODECANESE Leaving Crete behind, sail to the friendly island of Karpathos, which has managed to maintain many of its customs and idiosyncrasies due to its remoteness. Then arrive in Rhodes, where the structure of the capital’s old town dates from the era of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem, who lived here from 1309 until 1522. You will also see the lookout Mount Smith, so named

after the British admiral Sir Sydney Smith, or visit Lindos for a walk around one of Rhodes’ most stunning coastal towns.

ISLAND GEMS OF THE SOUTHERN AEGEAN Greek mythology has it that the island of Nisyros was once a part of Kos, until Poseidon threw a piece of the island at the giant Polybotes, trapping his foe and creating a volcano. Then step ashore on Delos, birthplace of Achilles and one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Greece, before relaxing in the cafes and shops of beautiful Mykonos.

from Volos to see the famous Byzantine monasteries, spectacularly built on top of the sandstone towers of Meteora. There are 24 in all and although many have fallen into ruin, some that remain are adorned with beautiful frescoes. Then step ashore on the sacred island of Lemnos before making your way to the crossroads of the ancient world.

THE DARDANELLES & BOSPHORUS Cruising into the virtually landlocked Black Sea is one of the world’s great journeys and begins in the beautiful Dardanelles, which separates Asian and European Turkey. In classical mythology, it was here that Leander swam the strait each night to visit his love, the priestess Hero. After passing the infamous Gallipoli

peninsula, site of a disastrous Allied campaign in World War I, Aegean Odyssey then cruises the smallest sea in the world, the Marmara, to enter the Bosphorus, with breathtaking views of Istanbul.

ODESSA – THE PEARL OF THE BLACK SEA The gigantic Potemkin Steps are considered the formal entrance to Odessa from the direction of the sea and are its best-known symbol.

The staircase is 88 ft high and extends for 466ft but gives an optical illusion of greater length. A person looking down the stairs sees only the landings and the steps are invisible, but a person looking up sees only steps while the landings are invisible. After exploring the city, there will then be a magical evening performance at a real gem of the Black Sea, the beautiful National Opera and Ballet Theater.

CONSTANZA & VARNA Cruising to the Romanian port of Constanza, the old quarter is rich in statuary and architectural marvels, including Ovid Square, so named after the Roman poet who was exiled here in the year 8AD. Following a tour of the city’s many historic highlights, there will then be time to

enjoy some local wine and delicacies to the accompaniment of a traditional folkloric performance. In Bulgaria’s third city, Varna’s Archaeological Museum houses the oldest manmade gold artefacts ever discovered, dating from the 4th-millennium BC. You will then visit the medieval Aladzha Rock Monastery that is arranged on two levels cut deeply into a 131ft high limestone rock face, to create a mysterious atmosphere. Also discover the remains of the 2ndcentury AD Roman Thermae, which were the largest baths in the European part of the Empire, before your return to Greece for disembarkation in Piraeus.

discovered here, from the Uffizi and Galleria dell'Accademia to the Ponte Vecchio, or alternatively you may visit the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Basilica di Santa Croce. Enchanting Lucca is situated on the banks of the River Serchio, where the cobbled streets, handsome piazzas and shady promenades make it a perfect destination to explore by foot, as is Pisa, where the city’s most famous symbol, the precarious Leaning Tower, appears before you in the Square of Miracles.

ISLANDS OF THE MIDDLE SEA On Elba, the island where Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled, you will see the elaborate villa where he lived, or take an optional tour to Capoliveri to enjoy some local wine. You’ll then

cruise the Isles Lavezzi and Maddalena Archipelago en route to Bonifacio and Ajaccio on the island of Corsica, ancestral home of Napoleon, before continuing through what was once known as the Middle Sea to explore the capital of Menorca, Mahon, and the bustling city of Palma de Mallorca.

SAILING SOUTHERN SPAIN After a day at sea, enjoy a panoramic drive through some of the outstanding sites of Malaga to visit the Picasso Museum, or an optional full day in Granada, where the Alhambra, begun in 1238, was the last capital of the Moors in Spain. Your excursion here includes the Royal Palace and the Generalife, with its splendid gardens.

The Rock of Gibraltar in the mouth of the Mediterranean is a tiny slice of Britishness full of extraordinary history. Then arrive in Cadiz for a morning tour of the 18th-century Baroque cathedral and the splendid Moorish-style Alameda de Apodaca gardens. Or you may travel to Jerez de la Frontera, a town famous for the production of sherry where, after a tour of the city, there will be some sherry-tasting at a renowned Bodega.

RIVER CRUISING TO SEVILLE Aegean Odyssey then sails inland through the Andalusian countryside along the Guadalquivir River to dock in the heart of Seville. Here you will visit the Royal Palace Alcazar, the oldest residence of Spanish royalty that is still in use today. The building amalgamates influences from the Arabic period and the late Middle Ages, through to the Renaissance, Baroque and the nineteenth century. In Cordoba, one of the world’s great destinations, you’ll also visit one of the wonders of the medieval world, the Great Mosque.

iberian highlights There has been a settlement on the site of Lisbon since Neolithic times and the city has long played a key role in European history. This rich past is evident during your tour of the oldest Alfama quarter, the monumental statue of Christ the King, and the monastery of Jeronimos. Then in Oporto, visit a wine estate to sample that most famous of fortified wines, port, or join a tour of this charming and historic city. It is believed by the faithful that St James the Apostle preached in Galicia and that, after his death in the Holy Land, his body was brought back to Santiago de Compostela. In the 11th century a church was built

over his remains and has been a place of pilgrimage ever since. Alternatively, you may enjoy a panoramic boat tour along the bay of Vigo to taste some world-renowned Galician mussels and white wine.

a taste of france – bordeaux and la rochelle Aegean Odyssey then cruises up the River Gironde to berth in the heart of Bordeaux, where the magnificent 18th-century architecture has led

many people to describe the city as having the most beautiful streets in France. Highlights here include the Palais Rohan and the 13th-century Cathedral of St Andrew, with a choice of tours also available, taking you to the Wine Museum or out of the city for some wine and food tasting at a prestigious estate. Cruising north along the southwest coast of France, you’ll arrive at the delightful port of La Rochelle for a tour of the city’s historic sites, including one of the jewels of the Atlantic coast, Ile de Re, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge nearly two miles in length.

guernsey and normandy A busy port since Roman times, the picturesque town of St Peter Port in Guernsey is filled with cobblestone streets that are lined with Regency buildings. Guarding the port is the 13th century Castle Cornet, which also houses a number of interesting museums.

bergen, harstad & the lofoten islands Bergen is a beguiling city. Flourishing by the early Middle Ages, its heritage can still be glimpsed in the beautifully preserved wooden houses of the Bryggen district, Here, a funicular will take you to the top of Mount Floyen for stunning views over the city. Other landmarks include Hakon's Hall, the Rosenkrantz Tower and the Mariakirken, Bergen’s oldest building. Entering the Arctic Circle, you will then get your first taste of perpetual daylight, as the sun dips briefly into the sea, creating amazing colors and a sense of a continual sunset and sunrise. Arriving at Harstad, the

rocky peaks and coastal flatlands of the Lofoten Islands are all the more atmospheric in this light.

cruising norWay’s north cape When Aegean Odyssey reaches Honningsvag (North Cape) at the northernmost tip of Norway you will witness the purest form of Midnight Sun to be found anywhere on earth. It’s a truly otherworldly experience in a realm where the sun never dips below the horizon at this time of the year, and we celebrate at midnight with cocktails on deck. The coastline of the North Cape is equally spectacular, as are the traditional wooden houses of Tromso and Trondheim, Norway’s former Viking capital, where the Nidarosdomen is the most northerly medieval cathedral in the world.

the norWegian fJords Cruising the majestic fjords of western Norway, you can enjoy an optional experience from Hellesylt to Geiranger. Along the way see the pretty waterside village of Stryn and the deepest lake in Europe, the Hornindalsvatnet. Lunch will be served at the Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre, overlooking the mountainous Oppstrynsvatn lake. Following a guided tour of the botanical garden, you will then ascend Mount Dalsnibba to an “invisible” viewing platform at its summit which creates the illusion of floating in space as you look down at the distant Geirangerfjord, over one and a half thousand feet below. Or, enjoy an included tour of UNESCO Geiranger. Alesund, at the mouth of the Geirangerfjord, is renowned for

its abundance of Art Nouveau architecture while Gamle in Stavanger is another of Europe’s best-preserved settlements of wooden houses and is filled with fairytale white cottages dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.

copenhagen: denmarK’s JeWel Arriving in Copenhagen, Aegean Odyssey will berth overnight near the famous Little Mermaid statue, giving you plenty of time to see the city’s many sights, including the Royal Winter Residence and the Rosenborg Castle, home of the Danish Crown Jewels. you will tour the museum dedicated to the 17th-century battleship Vasa, which sank on her maiden voyage but was raised from the seabed 333 years later in an astonishing state of preservation. Also available is a tour of Drottningholm, the private residence of the Swedish Royal Family. Nestled in countryside and superbly preserved, the palace was the first Swedish site to be placed on the World Heritage list. Helsinki, last of our Scandinavian capitals, is the world’s most northerly metropolitan city. This delightful port is filled with museums and unique architectural gems, which will be pointed out to you during a tour featuring Senate Square, Finlandia Hall, Market Square and the Olympic Stadium.

st petersburg The cultural capital of Russia, the city once known as Petrograd and Leningrad, is home to the second largest art gallery in the world. Located inside the breathtaking Winter Palace, the Hermitage boasts a collection of over three million pieces, with many great masterpieces on display, including works by da Vinci, Titian, El Greco, Goya, Rubens and Rembrandt. The Peter and Paul Fortress was built by Peter the Great in 1703 and has an impressive cathedral that was the burial place for all Imperial Russian rulers from Peter the Great

to Alexander III. Another masterpiece of 18th-century architecture is the ostentatious Catherine Palace, where the lost Amber Room was once considered the Eighth Wonder of the World and has been carefully reconstructed. Few experiences can rival seeing an iconic ballet in the city where its composer studied music, and during one of your evenings ashore you will be able to attend a spellbinding evening performance

of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at the lavish Alexandrinsky Theater – truly the opportunity of a lifetime.

Joining Aegean Odyssey in Copenhagen, your ship will berth overnight near the famous Little Mermaid statue, giving you plenty of time to see the city’s many sights, including the Royal Winter Residence and the Rosenborg Castle, home of the Danish Crown Jewels. You may also like to visit the picturesque medieval fishing village of Dragor, before cruising north to the Jutland peninsula for a fascinating stroll around the open-air museum of Den Gamle By, which superbly reconstructs the atmosphere of medieval Aarhus. Alternatively, take a tour to the charming 17th-century Baroque castle of Clausholm and another medieval marvel, the city of Randers.

oslo: city of culture Surrounded by stunning countryside, Norway’s capital is also a city of magnificent culture and history. Among the sights are the medieval Akershus Castle, the Viking and Kon-Tiki Museums of the Bygdoy district and the National Gallery, which houses many masterpieces, including a version of Munch’s ‘The Scream.’

from Kristiansand to bergen The architecture of Kristiansand’s traditional Kvadraturen Quarter is diverse and striking. Here you will see the 17th-century Christiansholm Fortress and the open-air Vest-Agder Museum, featuring over forty pre-20th century buildings. Gamle in Stavanger is also one of Europe’s

best-preserved settlements and is filled with fairytale white cottages dating from a similar period. Tucked away at the far end of Aurlandsfjord is the tiny village of Flam, best known for its railway. The route runs for just 12 miles but is perhaps the most dramatic train journey in Europe, climbing 2,845ft above sea level alongside the Sognefjord, which you will also cruise aboard Aegean Odyssey. Surrounded by seven hills and seven fjords, Bergen is a beguiling city. It’s heritage can still be glimpsed in the well-preserved wooden houses of the Bryggen district, where a funicular will take you to the top of Mount Floyen for stunning views over the city.

cruise deep into the fJords of norWay Aegean Odyssey then drops you in the charming village of Hellesylt for an optional overland experience to Geiranger. Along the way see the pretty waterside village of Stryn and the deepest lake in Europe, the Hornindalsvatnet. Enjoy lunch overlooking Oppstrynsvatn Lake and ascend Mount Dalsnibba for incredible views of the distant Geirangerfjord far below. Alternatively, enjoy a panoramic tour of UNESCO Geiranger. The hamlet of Olden is delightfully situated in the Oldendalen Valley, at the head of the Nordfjord, where towering mountains surround Lake Oldenvatnet, which owes its intense green color to thawing glacial water.

The mighty Hardangerfjord cuts a steep-sided rocky path through Norway’s lush steep-sided valleys and mountainous interior for over 100 miles all the way to the picturesque town of Eidfjord. Here the impressive Voringsfossen waterfall plunges nearly 660ft down the mountainside.

Here you will explore its rich history and natural beauty on a relaxing walking tour to the remains of Fort Skansinn, built in the 17th century to protect the Vestmannaeyjar islands. Then on to Iceland’s vibrant capital Reykjavik, where the Arbær openair museum boasts more than 20 historic buildings, most of which have been relocated from central Reykjavik to form a town square, a village and a farm. Alternatively, you may bathe in the healing, tranquil waters of the Blue Lagoon, or take an optional journey along the famous “Golden Circle” to the tumultuous Gullfoss waterfall and the other worldly landscapes of the Thingvellir

National Park, Iceland’s most important historical site and an area of outstanding natural beauty. After calling at the remote town of Isafjordur on the edge of the Arctic Circle, Aegean Odyssey cruises to Akureyri on the north coast under snowcapped peaks at the head of Iceland’s longest fjord. Here, signs of the earth’s power – glaciers, volcanoes, lava fields and stacks of basalt – are everywhere. Perhaps take in Iceland’s marvelous birdlife on Lake Myvatn, one of Iceland’s natural treasures. Myvatn, with its bubbling mud pools, extraordinary lava formations, volcanic craters and birdlife, is Iceland as you have always imagined it. AMALFI COAST, pAESTUM & SICILY Enjoy a cruise along the spectacular Amalfi Coast to Salerno for ancient Paestum, which legend has it was founded by Jason of Argonaut fame. What is undoubted, however, is the majesty of the three Greek temples at the heart of this 6th-century Greek city. During a relaxing morning at sea, we then pass the volcanic island of Stromboli and through the Strait of Messina on the way to Taormina and the island of Sicily. With its mountainous

Or you may journey through the island’s fertile orange and lemon groves to Achilleon Palace, one of the most renowned royal villas in Europe. Tour the Albanian archaeological site of Butrint, which has been occupied since at least the 8thcentury BC, before cruising to Lecce at the tip of Italy's boot for its many treasures, including the 25,000-seat Roman amphitheater. morning tour here also includes the Temple of Jupiter and the massive octagonal mausoleum, which was converted into a cathedral in the 7th century. Said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, the pine-forested island of Korcula is home to some splendid Venetian architecture. Aegean Odyssey then cruises the beautiful islands of Dalmatia to arrive in Dubrovnik, which Lord Byron described as the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” for a leisurely evening ashore, followed by a morning of sightseeing before sailing south to the stunning fjord of Kotor Bay in Montenegro.

ANCIENT BUTrINT, ALBANIA Surrounded by a picturesque lagoon, Butrint is one of the Ionian’s most

remarkable archaeological sites and one of Albania’s most beautiful national parks. Inhabited since prehistoric times, the site evolved successively into a 6th century Greek colony known as Buthrotum, a Roman city and a bishopric. During your guided tour you will visit the acropolis and the museum, where you will discover its many layers of civilization.

CLASSICAL GrEECE ANd ITS ISLANdS Our first port of call on the Greek mainland is Katakolon for a morning tour to Ancient Olympia, where the first Olympic Games took place in 776BC. You will then return to Aegean Odyssey for a leisurely afternoon cruising the Ionian Sea en route to a relaxing evening ashore and a morning of sightseeing in historic Pylos: either to the castle of Niokastro and the Venetian castle of Methoni, or the archaeological site of Messini which dates back to 146BC. Monemvasia has a name meaning “single entrance” and after passing through a gap in a rocky cliff here you will emerge into a uniquely beautiful medieval scene to explore,

before sailing to perhaps the most charming of all Greek islands, Hydra, a popular refuge from the hustle and bustle of Greece’s capital city thanks to its ban on private motor vehicles.

ATHENS ANd THE ACrOpOLIS Your two-night hotel stay in Athens includes a full morning's guided tour of the city's ancient citadel, the Acropolis. Built during the "Golden Age" between 447-438BC, the Acropolis embodies the magnificent achievements of Athenian culture during this remarkable era. You will also visit the wonderful Acropolis Museum and have free time to explore the city's other remarkable sites such as the ancient Agora (or “gathering place”) and the National Archaeological Museum.

your time here, walk the Sacred Way, following in the footsteps of thousands of pilgrims who came to consult the Oracle. For the final part of your land tour you will then visit Mycenae, the capital of a civilization which dominated the eastern Mediterranean from the 16th to the 13th-centuries BC, followed by the ruins of Epidaurus, where the magnificent theater is still in use today.

MINOAN SANTOrINI & CrETE Boarding Aegean Odyssey in Piraeus, our cruise begins with Santorini, where the Minoan settlement of Akrotiri is a highlight. The island also has some splendid picturepostcard villages to see, including the whitewashed houses and famously blue-domed churches of Oia.

island as it would have been in centuries past.

Arriving in Crete, the heyday of the Minoan civilization (2000-1600BC) was marked by the construction of great palaces, the best known being Knossos. Excavations here began in 1899 by the British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans, who controversially “restored” the palace with his own eccentric ideas of Minoan interior design. You may then enjoy an optional afternoon in the unique village of Arolithos, which has been designed to recreate life on the

Agios Nikolaos overlooking the curve of Mirabello Bay is your starting point for a walking tour of this beautiful coastal town, followed by a boat ride to the unoccupied fortified island of Spinalonga. Alternatively, enjoy a panoramic drive to the medieval Keras Monastery and the breathtaking Lasithi Plateau, which is filled with hundreds of picturesque windmills.

CrUISING THE dOdECANESE Leaving Crete behind, sail to the friendly island of Karpathos, which has managed to maintain many of its customs and idiosyncrasies due to its remoteness. Then arrive in Rhodes, where the structure of the capital’s old town dates from the era of the Knights of

St John of Jerusalem, who lived here from 1309 until 1522. Visit the lookout Mount Smith and enter the citadel of the Knights through the d’Amboise Gate, on your way to the restored Grand Master’s Palace. There’s also the opportunity to visit the Acropolis at Lindos, for incredible views across the island.

ISLANd GEMS OF THE SOUTHErN AEGEAN Greek mythology has it that the island of Nisyros was once a part of Kos, until Poseidon threw a piece of the island at the giant Polybotes, trapping his foe and creating a volcano. Then step ashore on Delos, birthplace of Achilles and one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Greece, before relaxing in the cafes and shops of the beautiful island of Mykonos.

Port Fees & Service Charges (included in above fares)

J I

GENERAL INFORMATION THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION AND VISAS All information provided below pertains to US and Canadian citizens only and is valid at the time of this printing, April 2018. All information regarding current visa and passport requirements can be found on Voyages to Antiquity’s website, us.voyagestoantiquity.com. Requirements for other nationalities can be obtained from the consulates of the countries to be visited on the specific cruise and land program. It is each guest’s own responsibility to ensure that they have the required documentation prior to travel. Failure to produce the required documentation at embarkation may result in denied boarding and any expenses incurred as a result are not the responsibility of Voyages to Antiquity.

PASSPORTS A passport, valid for a minimum of 6 months after the last date of travel with Voyages to Antiquity is required for all cruise and land programs. Special Note: Guests on itineraries which include calls to Arab countries and that may have an Israeli visa or entry stamp in their passport are strongly encouraged to obtain a new passport prior to travel. This is simply a recommendation and is not a requirement. VISAS At time of printing, no visas for US or Canadian citizens are required to be purchased for the countries visited on these itineraries with the exception of the following: Albania and Russia Group visas are included and obtained by the ship on arrival in both Sarande and St Petersburg. However, passengers wishing to step ashore and explore St Petersburg independent of our included and optional excursions will need to obtain a full Russian tourist visa prior to travel and at their own cost.

68

At least 90 days prior to departure, we must have the following information relating to each passenger: full name (as it appears on passport), address, nationality, date and place of birth; plus passport number, expiration date and date and place of issue. Guests cannot be included in group visas if this information is not supplied by the required time.

PRIVACY POLICY Voyages to Antiquity requires all guests to provide full passport details, including addresses and next of kin information prior to issuance of final documentation. The personal information provided to the company is only shared as required by government regulations to the local authorities for the purposes of customs, visas, and immigration clearances. The information may also be shared with certain suppliers of your travel arrangements. It should be understood that when making your booking you agree to your personal information being passed on as described above. You may also receive marketing communications from Voyages to Antiquity unless you indicate otherwise.

SPECIAL NEEDS Please consider the following issues carefully prior to booking and discuss any concerns with your travel agent and Voyages to Antiquity before making your deposit. The cruises and land programs featured include extensive sightseeing of ancient archaeological sites which involve walking on uneven surfaces, up and down multiple stairs, and require a certain level of fitness and mobility. A number of ports on the itineraries require disembarkation of the ship with the ship or local tenders. There is one cabin specifically designed for wheelchair use. However, guests must bring their own collapsible wheelchair, dimensions of which must not exceed 26” wide. Motorized scooters of any kind are not able to be accommodated onboard Aegean Odyssey.

Guests that need to travel with medical apparatus including wheelchairs, portable CPAP’s, and orthopedic devices must advise Voyages to Antiquity, in writing, at the time of deposit. Oxygen concentrators of any size are not permitted. A doctor’s statement of fitness may be required. All guests need to be self-sufficient and have an able-bodied guest traveling with them to take full responsibility for any assistance that is required. Important Notice: Failure to advise Voyages to Antiquity as required may result in denied boarding and no refunds are provided for such incidents.

HEALTH There is a fully equipped medical center staffed by a physician and licensed nurse for the benefit of both the guests and the crew. The medical center is primarily intended to provide acute care for illness and accidents that may occur while on vacation and is not intended to provide long term care for patients with chronic illnesses or as a substitute for regular health care. Charges apply for consultations, prescriptions, and cabin visits. Guests that require regular treatments or testing of any kind during the cruise and land program must advise Voyages to Antiquity at the time of deposit. Voyages to Antiquity has the right to refuse or revoke passage to anyone who, in its judgment, is in a physical condition that is beyond the care that can be provided or made available.

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS Please advise us at the time of booking of any special dietary restrictions or specific food allergies. Guests with specific food allergies must advise Voyages to Antiquity in writing at the time of deposit, and while all possible is done to meet the requirement(s), the guest is expected to exercise due caution when dining, either on board or during pre- or post-cruise land stays or on full-day excursions.

The ship can meet most general requests such as low cholesterol, diabetic, and salt- or fat-free. While all dietary requests are provided to our local suppliers and hotels in advance Voyages to Antiquity cannot guarantee fulfillment on included meals at hotels or restaurants on preor post-cruise land stays or on full-day excursions.

SHORE EXCURSIONS AND LAND ARRANGEMENTS Shore Excursions: Included in each port of call where suitable; some excursions will be available at an additional cost. Descriptions of the tours will be sent with your final documents or made available on the Voyages to Antiquity website. Lunches on full-day tours can be a picnic lunch provided by Aegean Odyssey or at a local restaurant. On some excursions, time for lunch will be provided in an area offering a wide choice of cafes and restaurants, and lunch is not included in order to leave the choice of menu up to you (such as in Rome, Florence and Urbino). Please note that these programs are planned far in advance of your visit, and we reserve the right to change, cancel, or substitute an included excursion at any time.

SMOKING Smoking is only permitted on Belvedere Deck aft. Smoking is prohibited in all other areas including cabins, balconies, and on excursion motorcoaches. All included hotel rooms are requested by Voyages to Antiquity as non-smoking; however this is not always possible and Voyages to Antiquity cannot be held responsible if the guest’s preference is not available on arrival.

CURRENCY, PAYMENTS AND GRATUITIES ON BOARD A “cashless” system is operated on board Aegean Odyssey with all purchases charged to your cabin account. The final account can be settled in US$ or GB£ at the end of the cruise. Visa, MasterCard

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES Cabins and suites feature European 2-pin round outlets with 220 voltage. Hair dryers are provided in your cabin and electric rollers, curling irons, electric shavers, and other small appliances can be used. Adapters/converters are available on board for conversion to 110 volts if required; however, we recommend you bring your own in the event supplies are limited. For safety reasons, travel irons are not allowed.

LAUNDRY AND PRESSING Valet service is available for laundry and pressing. A laundry bag and order form are provided in your cabin.

COMMUNICATIONS Aegean Odyssey is fitted with the latest satellite communication technology and direct dial telephones in all cabins. There is also an internet center on Belvedere Deck and charges are based on connection time.

CHILDREN Voyages to Antiquity cruise programs are destination focused and designed for adults. There are no facilities for children on board Aegean Odyssey. We consider the cruises unsuitable for children under the age of twelve.

DINING ARRANGEMENTS Dining arrangements on Aegean Odyssey are flexible as both restaurants have an “openseating” policy with meal times arranged to suit the ship’s time in port and the shore excursion programs. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the Terrace Café, while lunch and dinner only are available in the Marco Polo Restaurant. On days when full-day shore excursion tours are operated, lunch will only be available in either the Terrace Café or Marco Polo Restaurant. Reservations can be made for dinner in the Marco Polo Restaurant.

CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS We expect all guests to have consideration for other people. If, in our reasonable opinion, the behavior of any guest is likely to cause upset or distress to any third party or damage to property, the Company reserves the right, in extreme circumstances, to terminate that guest’s cruise and land program without prior notice. No refunds will be made and the Company will not pay any expenses or costs incurred as a result of the termination of the trip arrangements. The departure of the ship from any port will not be delayed for guests are who are not on board by the official departure time as advised by the ship.

Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a complete vacation package and take advantage of Voyages to Antiquity’s Low-Cost Economy Class air programs. Using the world’s leading airlines, Voyages to Antiquity offers you convenient routings and exceptional savings. And with all transfers included, you’ll be met on arrival at your destination airport, and enjoy being transferred in comfort to Aegean Odyssey. At the end of your vacation, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight home. Upgrade costs for Business Class may be available on request – please call for details. Customized Air Travel – You may wish to make changes to the flight itinerary provided by Voyages to Antiquity. Your Travel Agent can make these flight requests on your behalf when you confirm your reservation. For example, you may wish to request travel on a specific carrier, or travel on different departure or return dates. Any additional costs associated with the request will be added to your reservation once your new itinerary has been accepted. Seat Assignments – Voyages to Antiquity will request aisle and next seating when making flight arrangements. Some airlines no longer allow specific seats to be requested for Economy Class travel. Frequent Flyer Mileage – You may be able to accrue miles on most carriers we use but will not be able to use miles for upgrades or any

other amenities. Please note that not all airline alliances allow accrual of miles from one carrier to the other and guests should check this with their Frequent Flyer Mileage program affiliate. Special requests such as wheelchair, meals, or bookings in the new economy comfort seating areas should be arranged directly with the airlines. SAMPLE AIR ADD-ONS ATLANTA

Government Fees and Taxes, possible Fuel and Exchange Rate supplements and Gift Orders are fully refundable regardless of the cancellation notice. Changes to a Reservation Changes to a reservation at any time, including air and hotel arrangements confirmed by Voyages to Antiquity, may result in an assessment of administrative fees and service charges by the third party supplier(s) and is beyond the control of Voyages to Antiquity. Guests are responsible for any additional costs incurred as a result of these changes. Some changes, including name changes, may be considered cancellations and applicable fees will be assessed. Itinerary Changes The cruise and tour programs featured in this brochure are planned many months in advance. Occasionally changes have to be made to the published itineraries both before and after bookings are confirmed as circumstances beyond the control of Voyages to Antiquity (force majeure), may require us to correct information in the brochure that appears by error or omission. Most changes are minor but occasionally a “significant change” must be made. A “significant change” before departure is deemed to be a change to the initial embarkation or disembarkation port to a different geographical area or a change in the duration of your cruise and tour program by more than 12 hours. Ports of call or timing changes in ports of call are not considered to be “significant changes.” Voyages to Antiquity shall have no

responsibility or liability for any loss, inconvenience, or expense incurred by guests as a result of any changes or cancellations whether or not the changes are a “significant change.” (See further terms relating to changes and cancellation found in the Passage Contract.) A cruise may be canceled for reasons of “force majeure” (including but not limited to war, civil unrest, natural disasters, and adverse weather conditions) or in case a governmental organization issues a specific travel warning in the area where the cruise is to operate. We also reserve the right to cancel a cruise at any time up to ten weeks before sailing if we consider there are insufficient reservations for the cruise to be viable. If a “significant change” or decision to cancel a cruise is made, you or your Travel Agent will be advised as soon as possible about any alternative arrangements available. You can choose to accept these arrangements or cancel with a full refund. In the unlikely event that a “force majeure” event occurs or a travel warning is issued, after a cruise has started, Voyages to Antiquity shall not be liable to pay any compensation for any changes in itinerary or omitted ports of call or shortened or lengthened stays in any port or ports other than refunds received by our suppliers. The ship’s captain is responsible for the safety of the ship, passengers, and crew and has absolute discretion in making any alterations to the itinerary that he considers necessary. Independent Travel Arrangements Voyages to Antiquity is not responsible with regard to air or land travel or accommodation arrangements made using non-refundable, restricted travel or frequent flyer air tickets or frequent traveler hotel accommodations. This exclusion of liability includes the consequences of delays in the arrival at any airport, hotel, or port location that may occur when guests are using independently arranged air or land travel or when changes in travel arrangements may need to be made due to changes Voyages to Antiquity may make to the embarkation or disembarkation ports and the time of embarkation and disembarkation. The Passenger Ticket/Passage Contract contains full terms and conditions for these exclusions. Final Travel Documentation Travel documents including any air tickets are issued only after passport details have been received and final payment has been made to Voyages to

Antiquity. In most cases the final documentation is sent no later than 30-21 days prior to scheduled departure. It is the responsibility of the guest to verify that the full name(s) on any cruise, land, or air arrangements and reservations are the same as listed on his/her passport. Voyages to Antiquity is not responsible for cancellation or pre-bookable fees imposed by any supplier due to incorrect names provided by the Travel Agent or guest. Responsibility The responsibility of Voyages to Antiquity and the operator of the vessel is strictly limited according to the Terms and Conditions set forth in the Passage Contract that you receive prior to embarkation. You are urged to read the Passage Contract carefully. A sample is available to be mailed on request or can be viewed and printed from the Voyages to Antiquity website at any time. Transportation onboard the ship is provided solely by the ship operator and pursuant to the Passage Contract. Voyages to Antiquity reserves the right to accept or decline any person as a guest for any reason. Voyages to Antiquity shall not be responsible for any act, event or omission during the time passengers are not aboard the Voyages to Antiquity vessel. Voyages to Antiquity acts only as an agent for the supplier of off-ship services such as airlines and other off-ship transportation carriers, meals, shore excursions, accommodations, air ambulance and shore-side physicians. Guests agree not to hold Voyages to Antiquity, its owners, agents or representatives liable for any loss, injury, expense or damage which results directly or indirectly from any act or omission, whether negligent or otherwise, of any third party person or firm which is to, or does provide goods or services in connection with the trip or any available option. Without limiting the foregoing, Voyages to Antiquity shall have no liability to

passengers for the quality of services at, and the condition, cleanliness or safety of a hotel, housing facility, or conveyance, or for any transportation delay, including but not limited to liability for inconvenience, shortened vacation time, additional expenses, or any other kind of damage. Voyages to Antiquity expressly disclaims all responsibility of any nature whatsoever for any loss, damage or injury to property or person resulting from air, rail, motorcoach or any other form of transportation other than that actually provided by the Voyages to Antiquity vessel. Air Transportation Voyages to Antiquity does not operate, control or supervise any airlines and shall have no responsibility for carriers failing to meet schedules whether or not air tickets were issued by Voyages to Antiquity or its designated vendor. Voyages to Antiquity is not responsible for any expenses or consequences relating to air transportation and that result from causes including but not limited to inclement weather, strikes, flight cancellations, changes/delays in the ship’s schedule or a change/delay in schedule or routing made by a guest, travel agent or airlines. Any changes, including early ticket issuance and cancellations, requested by a Travel Agent or a guest to a confirmed flight reservation or issued ticket will incur an administrative fee. Any additional costs incurred by Voyages to Antiquity including penalties are made at the guest’s expense. Any charges imposed by an air carrier to Voyages to Antiquity after an air reservation is confirmed due to provision of incorrect name(s), or increase in airline related fuel surcharges, will be added to the total cost of your cruise or Cruise-Tour. Airline tickets are only refundable to Voyages to Antiquity and the amount of any refund owing to the guest, is determined by Voyages to Antiquity. Services provided by Independent Contractors All shore-side tours and services described in this brochure or on the website including air, hotel, transfers and excursions are provided by independent contractors. Voyages to Antiquity acts solely as ticketing agent for all shore-side activities and has no legal obligation or liability of any kind to guests for acts or omissions in connection with or arising out of arrangements with independent contractors, including but not limited to airline carriers, ground/tour operators, and hotels since they are neither agents for nor employees of Voyages to Antiquity.

Guests with Special Needs The cruise and tour programs featured in this brochure include extensive sightseeing and to fully participate each guest must be reasonably fit and have no walking difficulties. Whenever possible Voyages to Antiquity will try to accommodate guests with special needs as long as the mobility issues are not an impediment to others on the guided tours. For complete policy details, refer to the General Information section of this brochure or to that section of the Voyages to Antiquity website. Luggage Handling All luggage must conform to and will be handled in accordance with the regulations and restrictions of airlines, government security requirements, and third party suppliers. Individual Airline charges or fees relating to checked and carry-on luggage are the guests' responsibility. Applicable fees and charges can be found on each airline's website. Charges and fees relating to the carriage and handling of luggage excluding porterage at Voyages to Antiquity's included hotels or porterage at the pier and to/from the Voyages to Antiquity vessel are the guest's responsibility. Voyages to Antiquity reserves the right to search guest luggage at any time and to refuse any items that might be considered dangerous. All hand-carried luggage and personal effects are the responsibility of the guest at all times. Voyages to Antiquity is not responsible for the loss or damage to guest luggage. Luggage insurance is strongly recommended. Please refer to the Passenger Ticket/Passage Contract for the full details of the Voyages to Antiquity Luggage Policy. Errors & Omissions While Voyages to Antiquity makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of information in this brochure, its promotions and as displayed on the website, Voyages to Antiquity reserves the right not to honor any published fares that it determines were erroneous due to printing, electronic or clerical error. Voyages to Antiquity is not responsible or liable for any typographical errors, omissions or misprints.
