AVANTO Awarded with over twenty international prizes and with significant global press coverage, Avanto Architects is one of the most prominent Finnish architecture offices. Avanto means “hole in the ice” and refers to the popular Finnish hobby of winter bathing. The founders of the company, Ville Hara and Anu Puustinen, want their architecture to be a powerful experience just like jumping to ice cold water. In their design sustainability and personal experience are the key elements. Sauna is a passion for them and Avanto has designed several remarkable saunas from Löyly to the Finnish pavilion sauna in the Shanghai World Exhibition in 2010.
