Vape Supply Company What did you guys do before vaping? Before we decided to open up The Vape Supply Company our team derived from a variety of professional occupations; these included a professional MD, Business & Real Estate entrepreneur, a Nurse, RespiratoryTherapist, and a high-profile Club Promoter.

How did you come up with The Vape Supply Co’s signature design? Before opening up our store we were selling imported mods to a number of vape shops. Because of this we got a first-hand look at what these shops looked like from customer service, layout, to inventory, etc.

Did you smoke? If so, how long? Yes, most of us did smoke prior to vaping, and it varied as well from big name brands to Cuban Cigars. We probably smoked for a good 10 years and like most people, we started off as “recreational” smokers as a means to socialize, relax, and unwind. It obviously grew into an everyday habit that we thought we had control of and would tell ourselves we could quit anytime. We all know how that goes…no matter what, nothing ever really worked to stop.

We didn’t want to look like a tobacco or pipe shop. We wanted a classier appeal with a café style, industrial, modern approach. With experience in real estate investing we knocked out the design layout and managed the build-out ourselves. If you notice in each of our locations, the biggest feature is our bar.

How did you guys come up with your name? A big part of Business is Branding. If you look at all the successful, big corporations today you’ll find one thing in common, branding. Picking the right name was probably the biggest decision we had to make and it took us over four weeks to make the final decision. We wanted something that would make a statement, yet was simple at the same time. We wanted a name that would appeal to the masses whether it be for wholesale, retail, or web purposes.

Why would this be? We felt, eventually, people would have their own devices they already purchased online or from another store. So, what and why would they come into our shop for? Juice! What sets The Vape Supply Co. apart from others? It’s a challenge to stay different these days, with many other shops replicating the look and branding our company, it’s an everyday task. Nowadays, most mods and accessories can be found in any number of vape shops. As far as prices go, that’s another question. We pride ourselves in having competitive pricing since were not trying to make a quick buck over night. We

have close to 35 different juice brands and counting so we have one of the biggest juice selections. Also, our return policy is modeled after Nordstrom’s; so we will always stand behind our products that we provide for our consumers. We at THE VAPE SUPPLY Co. think outside the box, we are a consumer first business. We have several accounts with outside businesses that we deliver juices and devices to on a weekly basis. We are not just a shop but a big advocate for awareness and promoting this healthier alternative to companies and other health related arenas. When did your 1st shop open? The Vape Supply Company opened its first location in Pasadena, California and we had our grand opening in June 2013. Just a short month later we knew we wanted to open in Los Angeles and what a better place than in booming Downtown L.A. We had built the foundation and had the system down when we opened Pasadena. When you do that all you have to do is duplicate and repeat. Location is huge for us, especially with some real estate expertise on our team we wanted to make sure that we carefully scouted our second Flagship location. What can we look forward to next from VSCO? Were looking to expand across the country. Since California is nearly saturated, our next stop is in New York, and we’re pretty excited about that. What

we are doing first is establishing ourselves in major Metropolitan areas and establishing what we call our Flagship stores under THE VAPE SUPPLY CO. We have created our sister company called THE VAPE RESERVE CO and we plan on opening and partnering up with other business minded individuals all around the country. Now that you’re looking to open your 3rd shop and potential many more, what advice would you give somebody that was looking to franchise? Do your due diligence. Make sure everything is on the “up and up”. Get everything in “black and white”. Visit the other franchised stores you’re planning on opening up with; feel the vibe, meet with the owners and team. Review the accounting and financial statements. Know what you’re getting into before you jump in. YOU ARE buying the rights to use the name of the company so make sure they have a name for themselves across the board…through vendors to Yelp reviews, it must be solid. And finally Location, Location, Location! Don’t open up next to another shop. Make sure you give yourself enough room or you’ll end up regretting it later. Find a spot with decent foot traffic or expect to spend some money on marketing to get your clients through the door. americanmade products The Mods

When you see the words “Made in USA” on anything, you instantly are overcome with a sense of pride and satisfaction. American made products are recognized internationally not only for their style and their trends, but also because they are made with the best materials and the highest precision. Those three words, “Made in USA”, mean that you are holding a product of the highest quality, manufactured from the hearts, love, and attentiveness of American Pride. In fact, most other countries seek out the newest products that are made in the USA, and are willing to pay double or even triple their value because they are considered premium items. As Americans, we accept nothing less than the best, while maintaining a competitive edge on such things as fashion, science and especially technology. Today, the vape community has the honor to celebrate the growth, and accomplishments of some of our very own American Modders. They have spent endless amount of hours doing research and designing, creating devices that are original in style as well as in functionality. We have the privilege to be the first to showcase such beautiful products, and introduce some of our American Modders and their products, all “Made in USA.”

Penny Mod

In Mod We Trust

Since being introduced to vaping, Doug McGoon has become a bit of a vape aficionado and a dedicated advocate of helping the vape community grow. “The Chi You was my first real mod,” recalls Doug. And this was just a week after getting started with an Ego Twist. Since then his love for vaping skyrocketed. His attention to detail and quality are 2nd to none as one will easily discover after seeing his extensive collection of high-end mods. This transfers over to the making of his first mod, “The Penny Mod”. What better mod to come out with first than a full copper mod that integrates an actual penny into the firing button!?!?! A true symbol of the hard working American, each time you fire it up, your touching a piece of American history! What inspired you to make your own mod? I love quality, making quality parts is second nature to us at Mad Industries. I saw an opportunity to combine the industries we are already involved in, so it was almost a responsibility…I don’t know if I had a choice. Now being a modder, who would you say you are most inspired by? I gotta give it up to Mojo, after all it was my first real mod. I love Kato simply because of the Hammer mod. And of course Pedro! What would you say is your favorite setup? I love my Kato Hammer. I use it with an 18490 extender and the Rose atty by Eden Mods. Well aslo the Penny Mod and a Patriot with a matching cap of course. Most modders come out with a Stainless Steel as their first mod, why did you choose to go copper versus the standard SS or Brass? Besides copper being an excellent conductor, I just really like it. Copper has a warm feel and ages beautifully.

The Penny Mod is so unique because it has an actual penny in it. How did you come up with that idea? Well, I was trying to figure out how to engrave ‘made in USA’ on the button. A penny is copper (plated) and says ‘United States of America’ on it and only costs a penny. What can you reveal about your next project? We want to let the world know that American made products are here to stay and the Penny Mod is just the first of MAD Industries’ Coin Series Mods!

Available in 18490 & 18650 sizes Full copper mod with adjustable copper pins Machine brushed Recessed bottom button with genuine penny Model shown is prototype - Actual release will be slightly different The Penny Mod is available for purchase at www.bigbuddhavapors.com

The

paragon mods

Paragon V1 Extreme Quality At It’s Finest words: STAFF; photos: XXX

Before Getting into the vape game, Jeff Freeman, creator of Paragon Mods, had done a little bit of everything…including rollerblading, but don’t hold that against him. Among some of his previous experiences are real estate, marketing, sales, and talent management. However, it was his 10 years working on race cars for Ferrari that helped him with the inception of the Paragon V1. “My race experience gave me the inspiration to make a solid carbon mod. Everything on the mod serves a purpose, its not just there to look pretty, “ Freeman states. “I’m very big on efficiency. And there are a lot of talented mod makers out there. But, on every mod I purchased or used, there was something that did not make sense, or was unnecessary, or poorly designed. Plus I have been racing and building race cars for years…so needless to say I’m a sucker for carbon fiber.”

Jeff definitely knew he wanted to use carbon fiber, but carbon fiber isn’t conductive. So he came up with a simple solution that gives all the benefits of using carbon fiber, with out the drawbacks. “Using copper underneath the Carbon, I am able to have a super conductive mod which will never get hot in your hand (like a lot of mods do), be lightweight and stronger than just bare copper.” So why copper you ask? Freeman explains, “Copper is the most conductive of the three most popular metals used in making mods (stainless steel, brass and copper). Brass is only slightly less conductive than copper but is much more durable. Which is why we used brass for the pins. SS looks great, but has 3% the conductivity of copper. Which is why any brass or copper mod will always fire better than an SS mod. Electrical current as many know does not flow positive to negative. It flows negative to positive. So the current comes out of the bottom or negative side of the battery, through the tube of the mod, up through your RBA (rebuildable atomizer) and back down to the positive side or top of the battery. Simple current flow explains why having a super conductive metal mod matters.” Besides being influenced by racing, Freeman loves the Turtleship by RJ Mod, loves the fit and finish of the Poldiac and as he puts it, “The Mad Industries coin mod is hands down one of coolest mods I’ve ever seen. One of those is going into my collection for sure.” The Paragon V1 is just Paragon Mods introduction to the market to show everybody that they can turn out a solid product for a great price. In their future projects, Paragon Mods will still be doing things differently. Like the carbon fiber, they will use exotic materials for the body of the mod and the only metals you will ever see Paragon Mods use are copper, brass, silver and gold.

Available in 18500 & 18650 sizes Copper top cap & switch with brass pins Dry Carbon Fiber Body with Copper underneath

1. Start off with 2 strands of 3mm silica approximately 2 inches in length and 2 strands of A-1 Kanthal wire approx. 3 inches in length. 2. Fold your silica in half and wrap the Kanthal around your silica. Your coils should look similar to this. 3. Mount each of your coils into the designated holes with one end in the outer (- negative) post and the other in the center (+ positive) post and tighten down the screws.

4. Place your Tobh on an ohm reader and check your resistance. Mount your atty to your favorite mod and pulse fire it to check for hotspots. Use a proper pick to adjust your coils if necessary. 5. Your finished build should look like this when finished. 6. After you have the coils firing evenly, go head and move the excess silica in to the well to soak your favorite juice up for that perfect vape.

3-post dripping atomizer with adjustable airflow 1. Start off with 2 strands of 2mm Ekowool (or silica if you prefer) approximately 2 inches in length and 2 strands of A-1 Kanthal wire approx. 4 inches in length. 2. Fold the Ekowool in half and wrap Kanthal around one end of the silica, because of the position of the air hole in the base of the Omega. 3. Once the Kanthal is wrapped on one end you’ll want to wrap one end of your wire around the outer (- negative) post where the air hole is. Then wrap the other end of your wire around the center (+ positive) post. 4. Tighten the (-) screw tightened down and, leave the positive post wrapped for now.It should look something like this when the first coil is done.

5. Repeat the steps of the first coil. Once you both coils are wrapped around the positive post, tightened down the screw on the post. 6. Now, grab the end of the loop (excess) and flip it into the well of the Omega. 7. Once tucked under, the wick should look like this. 8. Make sure the wick is not covering the air hole and repeat on the other side. 9. Your finished build should look like this when finished on both sides. 10. Put the Omega on an ohm reader to test the resistance and then mount the atty on your favorite mod. Pulse it by firing your mod in short bursts and look for hotspots and make any necessary adjustments to the wire.

When the owners of Vapor Delight began vaping two years ago, there were only a handful of shops you could go to for products and nowhere you could go to socialize and hang out at as well. This inspired them to open a lounge where you could get your products, sample flavors and enjoy your time in a friendly and social setting. However, Vapor Delight is more than just a social setting; it’s an experience. Derived from a combination of sexy South Beach lounges, upscale London bars and innovative ambience concepts experienced in Dubai, Vapor Delight definitely creates a unique atmosphere that is noticeably different from your typical vape shop. Yes, Vapor Delight sells products, but they are not simply a stop & shop. They are a lounge and a social destination. “Our intentionally designed elements lend themselves to people socializing in a comfortable yet energetic bar like atmosphere which encourages fellow vapers to meet one another. Vapers interact here; they enjoy learning about and discussing all things vapor. Countless friendships have been formed right in our store, and Vapor Delight has become a home away from home for many vapers in Santa Monica. It’s not just a product shop, it’s an experience destination.” Vapor Delight is located in Santa Monica, CA with a few other locations in the works. Be sure to stop by and experience for yourself just what Vapor Delight is all about.

American Master Bike Builder Turns To Vaping words: STAFF photos: CHRIS BATES

At the age of sixteen, Matt Hotch started on the course that would forever change his life. What started as a hobby of customizing go-karts and mini-bikes at the age of ten, by the time he turned thirty, Matt Hotch was considered a worldwide master custom motorcycle builder. With “perfection is possible” as his philosophy, he has won numerous awards for his astounding creations, and was back-to-back winner on the Discovery Channel’s Biker

Build-Off in 2004 and 2005. His shop, Hot Match Cycles, is located in Fullerton, where there is an extensive growing waiting list to own one of his motorcycle masterpieces. As a badass biker and badass builder, Matt Hotch for a long time was also a badass smoker. On average, Matt smoked three packs a day, every day, for the last 20 years. He

states, “I’ve wanted to quit smoking since my kids were born, but that hasn’t exactly happened quite yet.” Last Christmas, a very good friend of his and owner of Mad Industries Inc. , Doug McGoon gave him his very first vape. His vape setup included “The Hammer” by Kato, a Kanger Pro Tank, and one of Doug’s favorite premium e-Liquid. With the help of the vape, Matt started easing off of cigarettes, and for the first time is looking forward to quitting cigarettes completely. “Vaping is definitely an alternative to smoking and an easier transition than any over the counter methods I’ve tried, “ says Matt. “I believe this is a great route for anybody looking

to quit because it has the feel of hitting a cigarette without the foul odors most people associate with smoking.” Because of his recognition, fame and his personal experience, Matt hopes he is able to influence millions of others out there that simply just can’t seem to kick the habit. In addition to his plans to fully quit smoking, Matt is currently making plans with Doug McGoon from Mad Industries Inc. to create mods and other vape related products. With his unsurpassed track record for style, immaculate craftsmanship, and ingenious engineering, we can only expect nothing less then awe and perfection.

Mr.

GOOD VAPE

The Godfathers of Vaping

When an idea or lifestyle makes its great segue from underground practice to mainstream awareness, a mixture of curiosity, imitation and government regulation will no doubt follow. And in this process, an industry is created, in which the cream of the crop rise and the rest dwindle or fall off the proverbial train. The vaping community is in the midst of such a transition; indeed, the concept of vaping has become a national craze, spawning a vast multitude of businesses eager to capitalize on it, and inciting acts of regulation from a government that does not understand it.

the requirements will take substantial amounts of money to operate a business at least on the juice side of the industry.”

Enter Mr. Good Vape, a premium juice maker who has no intention of falling off the train, and indeed, intend to lay the foundation for the track. “We have been told there are nearly 4000 juice companies currently buying extracts from a contact of ours,” muses Chris Davis, co-founder of Mr. Good Vape. “Will they all stay? The community will decide and the demand will dictate and eventually

Truly passionate about vaping, Davis and Riddle had found it to be an exciting and fulfilling way to quit smoking cigarettes after years of being heavy smokers. In October of 2012, the two decided they wanted to become involved in the vaping community as more than simply connoisseurs; they wanted to create something truly special. So began the inception of their unique method

Davis, along with his partner Gary Riddle, founded Mr. Good Vape for the opposite reasons most other businesses jump on the bandwagon: For pure love, as opposed to capitalizing on a craze. “Mr. Good Vape was never started for reasons like making money, it was essentially about max flavor and creating flavors that could be vaped not just all day, but forever.”

of blending and creating new flavors. “Some people try to take a flavor and make it better, or vape other brands to see whats out there, or even go to a recipe book to try to blend flavors,” Davis explains. “Our approach has been the exact opposite, we rid ourselves from outside influence and focus more on simply what tastes good.” This was not about making a high quality strawberry or piña colada flavor; rather, it was about creating a brand new and unique flavor from existing ingredients, much as a fusion chef would create a unique dish from existing ingredients. Generating such flavors as Bahama Mama (a tropical mix including banana, pineapple, coconut and colada cream), Sweet Lovin’ (a sweet mixture of strawberry, watermelon and bubblegum) to slightly more savory flavors such as Moon Sugar (a rich combination of butterscotch, graham cracker and sugar cookie) and Pistachio Man (a unique combination of mint, pistachio and chocolate with a hint of french vanilla and a dark burley tobacco imported from Italy). Indeed, each blend boasts a unique name and an addictive flavor. “Dabble Dooyah and Sundae Fundae were two of the most complicated flavors we have ever worked on because they contain 5-8 different extracts each and can be blended together to create a 13 extract super blend,” Davis relates. “Now the real focus to these flavors were about accents and nuance, it’s amazing coming up with something that truly is such a complicated recipe, making sure its consistent across all platforms and still creates relationship amongst the worlds palette.” In the face of recent attempts at government interference, one has to wonder: will it simply be unique flavors and clever

packaging that allow Mr. Good Vape to survive the inevitable onslaught of market regulation? “Honestly, we are not scared of regulation,” Davis states with assurance. “In fact, we are prepared for it and will embrace it as it comes...” Sure, they welcome regulation, but they also have a good idea of what kind of regulation will and will not negatively impact the industry. “What we think would suit the FDA and the vaping community is to NOT classify electronic devices or vaping consumables as tobacco products. First of all this will close down so many companies that give jobs and are generating income and paying taxes but it would also prevent a lot of the consumers from switching from a combustible analog cigarette to vaping. Regulation is good, it keeps people honest and safe and we support those ideas however we do not believe that over regulation should happen because it can and will slow the progress and innovation of the industry.” Another factor Davis and Riddle believe will ensure the longevity of Mr. Good Vape is the fact they treat their company as something more special than simply a vehicle for making money; they view it as a means to contribute to the vaping community as a whole. The mentality of being key fixtures in the vaping community is what inspired the idea behind Mr. Good Vape. “Mr. Good Vape is the Godfather of Vaping because of the mentality behind the company,” Davis says as he explains the company’s mascot and “Godfather” vibe. “We give back to the community, we talk to the community, we are involved in the community. People feel that they can always speak to the Godfather... we have fundamental principals such as loyalty, respect, honor... our approach was to keep it fun... and we truly try to give the people what they request, such as larger bottles or sample packs.”

HOLIDAY VAPE MEET:OC The Vape Community Cares

During the Holidays, the Vape Community came together and collected items to help put smiles on the faces of those in need. The L.A. Vapers Meet hosted by Darrin “Pup Gold and Lisa Kellett, gathered donations for the Foothill Family Shelter, a non-profit organization that houses homeless adults and children for up to 120 days. The O.C. Vapers Meet hosted by CaliVapers and Vape Daily gathered toys for the Toys for Tots Foundation. Overall, these are simply fun events to attend. Hang out with fellow vapers, meet vendors and best of all, make new friends. On top of that, there are always plenty of giveaways donated by so many generous sponsors!
