Hunting season opens next year on Nintendo 3DS, Capcom’s Summer Jam event in Odaiba has unveiled a new trailer for its flagship portable game we’ve come to love, Monster Hunter 4. Shown at the event’s Monster Hunter Special stage, the trailer has a date listed in the end of it, Spring 2013. Of course each new entry to the Monster Hunter series comes with new monsters, levels, and new hunting maneuvers for players to handle whatever’s coming. From what the trailer reveals, familiar monsters like Rathalos, Rathian and Tigrex are still present, plus at least 2 new monsters for now, an agile strange wombat like-monster, and one thats a mystery, only seen in a large silhouette form at the end.

COSMO Youth Parade‘s Parade Ambassador, Taiwanese teen cosplayer Neneko, was in town to grace the event. This teen star has participated in numerous cosplay competitions and even appearing on a Taiwansese variety show on television. We managed to grab an interview with her to find out more about her and hear what she has to say about cosplaying. This interview was done in Mandarin and translated for your reading pleasure.

And yes the hunter’s pet Felynes are back!

1. What type of characters do you look for when choosing a character to cosplay? I tend to cosplay “blur” or sensual characters. Like Yui from K-ON for example, but I do cosplay other types of characters as well, not just those two.

With news of Monster Hunter 4′s release on the horizon, to top it off the recent announcement of Nintendo’s upcoming bigger screen sized 3DS LL, (or 3DS XL in America) this year, it looks like the portable world of Monster Hunter has just got larger.

2. Do you have a pet peeve about cosplaying? I dislike people who will cause harm to others, other than that I feel that cosplayers should have to freedom to have fun while cosplaying, provided it does not intrude into other people’s personal space.

Source: 4Gamer

3. We have noticed that quite a number of your photos are of you cosplaying alone. Do you prefer to cosplay alone or with others? There are benefits from doing it both ways. When I cosplay in a group, it usually organize it myself and the group 1

will consist of around 10 people. Cosplaying together with friends is not bad too because we can interact with each other and it is quite fun to do so, so I quite like cosplaying with friends. However, unlike other cosplayers from other countries, most cosplayers in Taiwan prefer to cosplay alone instead of in a team.

7. Do you feel that a lot of money has to be spent to make a good costume? To me it is not necessary, cosplay is being creative, so it is part of using one’s creativity and skill to to save money to get the costume made. You don’t need to spend a fortune on it. If you can do it and save money, you can use that money to make your next cosplay costume, I think that is pretty good. 8. You mentioned that you like to play games, what kind of games do you like to play? Umm, how do I put this. Games that boys like to play. (laughs) But recently I like to play Queen’s Blade & Queen’s Gate.

K-On! x Zoff Collaboration Details Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/07/k-on-x-zoff-collaboration-details/ By Mycstea on July 1st, 2012

Images and details of K-On! and Zoff’s merchandise collaboration has finally surfaced!

4. How were you introduced to cosplay? It’s through my drawings, I like to draw manga characters. I think it is faster for me to express myself through my drawings rather than by talking. 5. In cosplay, it takes alot of effort to create a very good cosplay, worthy to compete in competitions, do u agree? Actually, no. I just want to do a good cosplay for others to see. For example, with Arhi from League of Legends, I discussed with the photographer what shots we want to achieve. The tails were all done digitally as they were supposed to be much bigger than the character’s body.

Fans of moeblob anime K-On! have been showered with images of the actual products to be released in September, with pre-order purchases beginning July 20th 2012. Previously reported on SGCafe, details are much clearer now with regards to release dates and prices. As reported earlier, there are 6 spectacle frame variants, 1 each for every character. Each frame will be fitted with a non-degree lenses (without UV protection). An option is also given to fit the frames with glasses fit to the owner’s own lens degrees for a price of additional 3150yen. 1 mini “megane charm” of tea cups and glasses for each variant will also be given, along with metallic parts of each motif to include the representation of each character (their instruments). A spectacle cleaning cloth with printed illustration will also be included in a specially designed spectacle box with K-On! logo. Each set will be available for pre-order on July 20th 2012 noon at 5250 yen (with tax), while a limited 200 special sets of all 6 glasses will be available for a very limited time and exclusivity. The set will also contain 1 box to specially encase all 6 glasses. These special sets will only be sold on TBSishop online. Readers can have a look at the available designs below!

6. What other hobbies do you have besides cosplaying? Recently, I really like sewing my own cosplay costumes. I used to commission others to sew my costumes, but now I feel a sense of satisfaction sewing them on my own. 2

A slip up such as this has caused a great deal of disturbance in the Key fanbase as fans begin to clamour for more news. Suzumiya Haruhi gets a social game Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/06/suzumiya-haruhi-gets-a-socialgame/ By KarbyP on July 1st, 2012

Just about every major video games or anime franchise in Japan has got its own social game these days. The latest to hop on the bandwagon? Noizi Ito’s The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi light novel and anime series. Nexon Co. – you know, the guys who published Maple Story and a bunch of other leading online games – announced this week that they are launching Suzumiya Haruhi no Tensei (涼涼涼涼涼涼涼涼, The Reincarnation of Suzumiya Haruhi) on social network service (SNS) and Web gaming platform Gree. Normally when we say “launch”, we really mean that a company has announced a product but it won’t be available to consumers until such-and-such release date. In Suzumiya Haruhi no Tensei’s case, however, the game is actually live right now, pretty much moments after Nexon Japan made the announcement yesterday. Suzumiya Haruhi no Tensei, like most other such social titles in Japan, is a card battle game where you earn various character cards by progressing through a story mission mode. When you reach a certain point in the story mode, a “loop” will occur – not unlike the infamousEndless Eight story chapter in The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi – allowing you to re-visit events you’ve already experienced in the game

12 through 14, staff commentary on episode 10 and – curiously enough – illustrations for four characters from the “Mankenbu” (Manga Studies Club) cosplaying as Vocaloids Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Len, Kagamine Rin, and Megurine Luka. It’s not mentioned specifically which episode these characters will appear in, but since today’s update covers content that will appear in the anime series from episodes 11 to 14, it won’t be long before the mankenbu guys appear on-screen. The Hyouka anime series (涼涼, which literally means “frozen treat”), produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto, is based on a mystery novel by Honobu Yonezawa about four high school students who belong to the Classic Literature Club (kotenbu) in their school. The anime series began airing in Japan from January 26 of this year, and will feature a total of 21 episodes, 10 of which have already aired.

To play Suzumiya Haruhi no Tensei, you will need a Gree account (which requires an email address from a Japanese telco) and either an Android smartphone running 2.2 and above, or an iPhone on iOS4 or above. If you meet the requirements, point your smartphone’s Web browser over to http://pf.gree.jp/56653 to start playing; the link will not work on a regular PC Internet browser. Source: 4Gamer

Muv-Luv artist fired over tracing incidents Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/06/muv-luv-artist-fired-over-tracingincidents/ By Xharky on July 1st, 2012

Artist Sou Miyata was officially dismissed from his position at animation production company Ixtl on the 10th of June. Ixtl’s press release states that the artist will not have any further involvement with the company, and does not give a specific reason for dismissal. Ixtl, a new animation start up, is in charge of producing the upcoming anime “Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse”.

In this case, the artist has used Polyphonica’s crimsonhaired character Corticarte as the trace subject. Her adult form was traced over and used for the Muv-Luv dakimakura on the left. In this case however, there are slightly more discrepancies between the two, and generally most people wouldn’t notice it. The poses used are completely identical, however the shadows are not exact. Some may argue that instead of this being a direct trace, it may have been a quick sketch duplicate of Corticarte being used as the base of the Muv-Luv character. Several Japanese blogs have reported that promotional artwork and dakimakura covers by this artist have been found to be exact traces from other series.

More detailed comparisons are present below:

Note the near-identical poses, completely matching models, and the shadow application on both the Infinite Stratos character and Muv-Luv’s. Not only is the body shape outline an obvious trace in the case of the Muv-Luv character, the shadows used are exactly the same, with only tiny changes and color swaps. Not just satisfied with tracing for promotional material, the artist apparently has also done the same thing for art that is to be used for a dakimakura.

New Project X Zone PV trailer is over 10 minutes long, showcases every character announced Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/07/new-project-x-zone-pv-trailer-is-10minutes-long-showcases-every-character-announced/ By KarbyP on July 3rd, 2012

The To Aru Majutsu no Index film is set for premiere on the 23rd of February, 2013, in 29 theaters in Japan. The movie will be based on an original story by Kamachi Kazuma, and there will be new characters, content, and new story details in the film.

In our Project X Zone news blast last week we told you that the developers were putting the finishing touches to a brand new trailer for the game. Well, it looks like they’re done. On Sunday, Namco Bandai Games released this humongous 10-minute-long trailer that showcases every single character that’s been announced so far. So if you thought the previous trailer was epic, wait till you get a load of this. On top of characters and their special move animations, the trailer also details a unit edit mode, and tells you how to get five characters fighting on the screen simultaneously. This part is a little complicated, so let’s take it step by step. List of theaters in Japan showing the film:

Basically, characters in Project X Zone either fight in pairs (pair unit) or alone (solo unit). However, in the unit edit mode, you can add a solo unit to a pair, resulting in a threeman unit. In such three-man teams, during combat you will take control of the pair unit. At any point, however, you can hit the L trigger to summon your solo unit character to come in for an assist. But that’s not all; solo units are not the only characters who can support you in combat. A pair unit can assist you in combat as well, but the conditions for this to happen are different – the pair unit must be adjacent to the unit you’re controlling on the field. This will open up the option to call in a “Support Attack” by hitting the R trigger. During combat you can call in your solo unit and support attack unit to come in simultaneously, resulting in five characters ganging up on the enemy. Project X Zone for the 3DS is slated for an October 11 release in Japan. 2

Although the game’s service will begin only on Wednesday, to avoid server congestion players are recommended to download and install the PSO2 client software prior to the actual launch. Sega recommends doing so between 2AM and 4PM Japan time. To download the PSO2 game client, go to this page here. The client is roughly 3GB big. If you’re currently enrolled in the open beta for PSO2 (which is still ongoing, until July 3 11AM JST), you will not need to re-download the game client again. The open beta version will be updated prior to the start of service. Like we previously reported, PSO2 is free-to-play and supported through paid premium items (go to our previous story for exact pricing details). Players who’d like to start the game with a stash of virtual money (called “Arkz Cash” in PSO2) can begin purchasing credits from July 3 at 3PM Japan time.

Phantasy Star Online 2 has a final release date! The free-to-play PC title will officially begin service in Japan this Wednesday, July 4, at 2PM JST (GMT+0900 hours). In addition, Sega will offer a premium package for the game through retailers in Japan beginning September 13 for 6,279 yen. The premium package will include an installation DVD, plus codes for a number of premium items: five sets of original weapons, 30-Day Premium Set, 1000 FUN points ticket, Mag evolution device, colour change item, Scape Doll x5, boost-type item set, etc. Sega has also shared a new trailer for the game today:

prior to the start of the concert and even the rain didn’t prove to be much of an obstacle for them. The area was robust with fans of various ages and ethnicity.

Drummer Tomoya was great throughout the concert with his performance while Guitarist Toru impresses everyone with his powerful rush of chords with Ryota doing a great job on the bass. Taka’s stage presence was great as he interacts with the fans. Unlike other concerts where I’ve been to where fans will keep to their spirit with colourful light sticks that sway to the rhythm of the songs, the fans here would keep their arms raised high and pump their fist into the air and jump along. It’s nice to get fans to partake and sing along with the performance for “Answer is Near”. Fans were singing in harmony for this song as they called for encore later on during the concert. “Wherever you are” brought tears to my eyes as I stood there and listened to the nice guitar play by Toru while Taka sang, putting in a lot of feelings into it.

© Amuse / J-LIVE ASIA The fans turned out in full force to see their favourite band, not only from Singapore but from Taipei and even Korea, many of whom had flown over just to see the band on its World Tour or followed them from their previous location. Fans were singing out to show their love and appreciation for One OK Rock’s visit while they interact with each other. Fans of the Japanese rock band queued to get their hands on One OK Rock’s live goods such as T-shirts, towels, iPhone cases and stickers. One Ok Rock is a Japanese rock band formed in 2005, comprising of Taka (vocalist), Toru (guitarist), Ryota (bassist), and Tomoya (drummer). The name of the band means “One o’clock”, which is the time the band used to start for the regular jamming sessions. They try to stylise the name by changing “o’clock” to “o’krock”, which was then separated to become “OK Rock”.

© Amuse / J-LIVE ASIA The peak of the performance was probably during “NO SCARED” as the fans starting lifting off the ground higher and higher. It finally came to an end with “Kenzen Kankaku Dreamer” but the fans wanted more and chanted for an encore. Their calls got reciprocated when One OK Rock came back on for another two more encore songs, ” Jibun Rock” and “Naihi Shinsho”. One OK Rock, without a doubt rocked their audience at SCAPE* Warehouse. Many fans went home with ringing in their ears, yet with gleeful smiles, knowing that the band promised to be back in the future.

© Amuse / J-LIVE ASIA Minutes after seven, Singapore fans of One OK Rock finally got their chance to meet and rock together with their favourite Japanese rock band at the SCAPE* Warehouse. The lights dimmed out to cue the fans to be ready and they were treated to an impressive performance on stage. Like the other fans, it was my first time attending the concert and to be honest, I have not heard a single song of theirs prior to attending it. My initial impression was that they are very unique group, with strong American alternate rock influences. Bands such as Jimmy Eat World and BACKON was one of the groups I could relate to with strong comparisons.

Starting this Summer, SGCafe will be featuring 10 anime titles that will attract anime fans! If you are undecided as to which anime to watch this upcoming season, you may wish to consult SGCafe’s seasonal anime recommendations! Before we begin, we must highlight that all anime titles featured here does not constitute anime that fans must watch. It is a list of recommended anime that we at SGCafe feel will of interest to most anime fans. Not all of the titles featured will be on streaming sites like Niconico or Crunchyroll either.

Title:Rinne no Lagrange Season 2( 輪輪輪輪輪輪輪輪輪 season 2) Studio: Xebec Genre: Fantasy, Sci-fi Voice cast:Ishihara Kaori (Kanna from Ano Natsu de Matteru)Seto Asami (Chihaya Ayase from Chihayafuru) Kayano Ai (Honma Meiko from Ano Hana) Why Recommend? The second season of this typical shounen anime overrun by girls, subtle drama and pretty cool mecha fight scenes, this light hearted anime also has obvious hints of serious drama splattered all over the first season, and we are expecting the second season to wrap things up, as well as clear up the mystery of the ‘Blossoming of Rinne’. Watch this if you like: Mecha, spiffy fight scenes, cute girls with drama —–

Hayami Saori (Aragaki Ayase from OreImo) Why Recommend? The producer, character designer and composer of Spring 2011 anime Hanasaku Iroha return for TARI TARI, and the premise of the lives of three high school girls each have their own goals and troubles. While a slice-of-life anime can be rather dreary in plot on occasions, P.A Works might be able to produce something that will differentiate itself from its HanaIro. That said, P.A Works has been consistent in their animation quality. Watch this if you like: Great art, cute girls, slice-of-life —Title: Moyashimon Returns Studio: Shirogumi, Telecom Animation Genre:Comedy, Slice-of-Life Voice cast:Sakaguchi Daisuke (Fukube Satoshi from Hyouka)Nishimura Tomomichi (Richard Mardukas from Full Metal Panic!) Ohara Sayaka (Irisviel von Einzbern from Fate/ Zero)Touma Yumi (Urd from Ah! My Goddess)

Title: Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse Studio: Satelight, lxtl Genre:Action, Fantasy, Sci-Fi Voice cast: Nakahara Mai (Furukawa Nagisa from Clannad)Nabatame Hitomi (Makishima Saori from OreImo) Ono Daisuke (Sebastian Michaelis from Kuroshitsuji) Why Recommend? The previous game-to-anime adaptation from âge was popular emotional train wreck drama Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, and it was popular enough to be aired on local television channels in Singapore. But this time, the adaptation is from the game’s spinoff light novel. Plot-wise, one can expect the first half of the anime to be a generic Sci-Fi anime of humans defending Earth from aliens with gigantic robots, but when it comes to âge, the plot is never that simple. Satelight has proved that they can animate decent mecha fight scenes with the recent Aquarion3 EVOL, but can they stay true to the plot and pacing of the light novel? Nevertheless, if all things go smoothly, this anime might just be this season’s blockbuster hit, like Muv-Luv Alternative did in the visual novel category. Watch this if you like: Mecha, busty girls in skin tight suits, engaging plot —-

Why Recommend? One cannot say no to the cute talking microbes, so much so that a sequel was eventually made. Interesting aspects about microbiology, fermentation and cultivation continues with the veteran voice cast. Despite the setting being in university, various antics and stupidity amongst the characters pop up frequently. We bet Biology students from Secondary, Polytechnic and University students will find this both interesting and amusing to watch. Watch this if you like: Cute mascots, comedy, craziness —-

Title: Natsuyuki Rendezvous Studio: Dogakobo Genre: Drama, Slice-of-Life Voice cast:Nakamura Yuuichi (Oreki Houtarou from Hyouka) Oohara Sayaka (Irisviel von Einzbern from Fate/Zero) Fukuyama Jun (Panda from Shirokuma Cafe) Why Recommend? Noitamina’s other offering this season is Natsuyuki Rendezvous, a josei manga by Kawachi Haruka, animated by studio Dogakobo (Yuruyuri, 11eyes). It features a stellar voice cast of familiar names, and has a quirky plot befitting of the noitaminA programme block. The story involves a young man who falls in love with the owner of the floral shop he 7

Title: Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate Studio: AIC BuildGenre: Harem, Romance Voice cast:Nakamura Yuuichi (Oreki Houtarou from Hyouka) Imai Asami (Makise Kurisu from STEINS;GATE) Nakamura Eriko (Amami Haruka from IDOLM@STER) Why Recommend?Love, Election and Chocolate is an anime adaptation of the visual novel of the same name by sprite. Known for its beautiful backgrounds and CG, it will be interesting to see how the original character designs will be reflected in the animated version. The voice cast is also something to look forward to. The plot is set around the student council elections, in which the main character Oojima Yuuki participates in, and finds out about issues surrounding the school in the process. Watch this if you like: Harems, school-life stories —-

Title: Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai. Studio: feel Genre: Comedy, Romance Voice cast:Endo Aya (Sasako in Shirokuma Cafe) Shimono Hiro (Kasugano Haruka in Yosuga no Sora) Ishihara Kaori (Kyono Madoka in Rinne no Lagrange) Why Recommend? From the studio who brought us Papa no iu koto wo kikinasai!, Mayo Chiki and Yosuga no Sora, comes an adaptation of the light novel series, Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai. Fans can expect love-comedy and fanservice from this title, as the premise is about the main character, Kaga Ryousuke losing his sex drive to an elite death god (Lisara Restall). Watch this if you like: Comedy —-

Title: Binbougami ga! Studio: Sunrise Genre: Shounen, Comedy. Voice cast:Hanazawa Kana (Sengoku Nadeko from Bakemonogatari) Inoue Kikuko (Belldandy in Aa! Megami-sama) Uchiyama Yumi (Nagi from A-channel)

Title: Sword Art Online Studio: A-1 Pictures Genre: Fantasy, Sci-fi Voice cast:Tomatsu Haruka (Nagi in Kannagi) Itou Kanae (Saten Ruiko in Railgun) Taketatsu Ayana (Nakano Azusa from K-On!)

Why Recommend?Sunrise’s offering for the upcoming season is an adaptation of Sukeno Yoshiaki’s manga which ran in Jump SQ. The main character is voiced by popular seiyuu Hanazawa Kana, and the voice cast is a definite draw

Why Recommend?Fans of Accel World will probably want to catch Sword Art Online, as they share the same author, Kawahara Reki. A-1 Pictures (Tsuritama, The IDOLM@STER) will be creating this adaptation, and the music will be by acclaimed composer Kajiura Yuki. 8

For the Fate/Zero Next Encounter, social game, the full set of teaser images of the master/servant pair has been revealed just recently. Here are the “suggested pairings” from their official site:

Title: Kokoro Connect Studio: Silver Link Genre: School Life, Supernatural Voice cast:Mizushima Takahiro (Takamatsu from Angel Beats!) Aki Toyosaki (Hirasawa Yui from K-On!) Sawashiro Miyuki (Kanbaru Suruga from Bakemonogatari) Hisako Kanemoto (Ika Musume from Shinryaku! Ika Musume) Takuma Terashima (Apollo from Sousei no Aquarion) Why Recommend?School life will never be the same again for the five friends who mysteriously switch bodies with each other. The best thing is, it happens only between people of the opposite gender. As the five of them slowly realize that this phenomenon not only happened to them, but everyone else in their school. Kokoro Connect has released a pre-season teaser of their first episode, that surprisingly feels like a supernaturalish K-On! with guys. Nevertheless, the anime will prove entertaining with many hilarious situations from the five main characters who find themselves in numerous awkward situations.

A video of a fan-made Idolm@ster Dearly Stars anime video has been making its way around Nicovideo and Youtube. The vid-maker, who goes by “Com”, says that he (or possibly she) did it to commemorate the 7th Anniversary Live and the release of all 9 Blu-ray/DVD volumes. In fact, work on this short video begun right after he finished marathon-ing through the entire anime series in one shot. Watching simply wasn’t enough. Com-san said that this was the first Idolm@ster video he’s ever worked on, and that most of the animation frames were traced directly from the Idolm@ster anime series rather than drawn from scratch, so it didn’t take as much work as you might have thought. But that’s just Com being modest. Kotaku Japan’s Takeshi Kamio notes that even if one were to create cells from the Idolm@ster anime series, trace them out, change the characters, and align everything to the music, that’s really way too much work for the average fan; it’s something that only a true Im@s fan could endeavour. Com is indeed a true blue Im@s fan – the type referred to amongst the community as a DD (“Daredemo Daisuki” or “Likes Every Character”). In the description for his video on Nico Nico Douga, Com says that he hopes to see a season two for the Idolm@ster anime series, and that hopefully it will feature not only the 765Pro stars, but also the gals (well, two girls and a guy) from Dearly Star’s 876Pro.

But it appears that, in spite of what may have seemed like a mega reveal, Capcom had actually been holding out on us. They were saving the best scraps of information for respected video games media powerhouse, Famitsu magazine. The new issue of Famitsu, which officially goes on sale in Japan tomorrow, July 5, puts the spotlight on Monster Hunter 4 (as you can see in the cover image on the right) and doles out everything you didn’t hear about over the weekend in massive scoop. Although the magazine would only go on sale tomorrow, certain folks in Japan were able to grab their hands on an early copy, and were kind enough to share with the rest of the world a few morsels of info from Famitsu’s mega-scoop. Here’s a summary of what they’ve revealed so far: From Tomopop, we can guess that the anime will most probably cover up to at least the second story arc, so look forward to the anime if you are a fan the books/manga! Update: now with pictures/scans, appended below. Update 2: even more scans. Original story: This past weekend Capcom showed off a new promotional trailer and shared new details – the first in a long while – for 3DS mega-hit-in-the-making Monster Hunter 4 at Capcom Summer Jam in Odaiba.

• Local Wi-Fi players 1-4. Online play is not mentioned. • Development for Monster Hunter 4 was done alongside MH3G. • Ground terrain will feature different levels of elevation or altitude. You’ll be able to use take advantage of these altitude differences to sneak up on a monster, or perform jump attacks by going up to higher ground and descending in one fell swoop. • Monsters will also be aware of these new altitude differences on the ground terrain, and use them for tactical advantage. • There won’t be any underwater monster hunting this time around. • When certain conditions are met you will be able to climb onto a monster and cling on them (like in Dragon’s Dogma). • A new weapon type that’s secret for now. • Felynes will be able do something new, and – as with Monster Hunter 3G – you will be able to bring up to two of them on solo quests. • Camerawork: free-camera (whatever that means… every single Monster Hunter game I’ve played has had a free-camera, after all). • You will no longer begin quests from a fixed position – the base camp – on the map; instead, you’ll be shipped out to the location by means of a caravan (which should mean that the starting point for quests will be different each time). • New armour designs.

yet? Including the nigh-impossible The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku on Break the Limit mode? Hope you did, ‘cos Sega’s prepping a sequel to the game. Today Sega announced via Twitter that a Miku Flick 02 is under development. An official website for the game went live as well – interestingly, there’s a Japanese site, and one for an English international version (the URL to which we found in the description for Miku Flick in the iTunes store). The difference? Not much (for now) – the English site goes “iPhone Rhythm Action Game” where it says “iPhoneミミミミ ミミミミミミミミミ” in the Japanese one.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the original Miku Flick, Sega is also dropping the price in the US and Japan iTunes app store from US$13.99/1,300 yen to US $10.99/900 yen. The price drop doesn’t apply to regions like Singapore, however, primarily because over here we were already getting a deal to begin with: Miku Flick has been sold for S $13.98 (about US$10.99 or 900 yen) since day-one. No release date has been announced for Miku Flick 02, but it shouldn’t be too long before the game-app comes out – the announcement-to-release time period for the original was just a couple of weeks. What songs would you most like to see in Miku Flick 02? Project Diva F songs, perhaps?

HD versions of Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs Capcom (One) are headed to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network in one package! Hit the jump to find out how find if it’ll feature GGPO and what other online features are in stall. Both games will support 8-player lobbies, with GGPOenhanced netcode and spectator mode, dynamic challenges, and replay saving. In other words, Marvel vs Capcom Origins is getting the Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition. Hopefully Marvel vs Capcom will include some sort of trial challenge based off of Justin Wong’s competitive career; if I recall correctly, Justin said in an interview that his first ever tournament was for Marvel vs Capcom – and that led him to get into the rest of the Street Fighters. Marvel vs Capcom Origins will be released in September. The Xbox Live Arcade version will be sold for 1,200 Microsoft Points, while the PlayStation Network version will cost US$14.99/€14.99/£11.99/AUD23.95.

I have to admit it’s a little on the pricy side, but the upside to it is there you’re essentially getting two games for the price of one. More important, since Capcom didn’t announce any new fighting games at E3… what’s a Street Fighter fan to spend his money on, other than this? It’s turning out to be a really odd year for Capcom fighting game fans. Today’s Marvel vs Capcom Origins release announcement also begs one more question: does this mean that at some point we might see X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter (the two games that were released between Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs Capcom) on XBLA and PSN? If all of these games can be republished now that Capcom has a new licensing agreement with Marvel, that is. Why did Capcom pair MvC specifically with MSH? You have to think that another double pack, with X-Men VS and MSH VS, are coming at some point. It’s the only plausible explanation.

Ver.B of Hatsune Miku Project Diva Arcade went into service in Japanese arcades today. To commemorate the occasion, Sega released a new trailer for Ver.B that shows off all the shiny new things players can do in the game now. This trailer is different from the “advertise” video previously shown. We’ve already wrote about all the new features in Ver.B in great detail in a previous post. The only feature that we didn’t already mention is that there are now Excellent Trials, which allow you to wager even more VP (a digital currency used within the game to unlock content like additional modules/ skins). Nexon announced today that Maple Story players in Japan will be getting original content in the form of a Sengoku Jidai (Sengoku era) update later this month. They’ve also released a trailer that shows fans what they can expect from the new update. As with theMaple Story: Legends update (which is what Maple Story SEA players are getting right now), the Sengoku Jidai content is split into three parts, starting with July 11′s Akatsuki patch, which will add a Japan-exclusive map to the game as well as a “Sengoku Daigassen” (画画画画画) system, which sounds like you’ll be able to do large-scale countryversus-county battles. July 25 will see a Shippuu no Yaiba (画画画画, The Huricane Blade) patch that adds a new “Hayate” character class. Finally, on August 11 the Shiyou no Okina (画画画画) patch will add the “Kanan” character class, and a “Ranmaru Enseitai” (画画画画画画画 or Ranmaru Expedition Force) gameplay system. Maple StoryJapan players will be able to create custom Hayate and Kanan characters until the end of October. Although the Sengoku Jidai update is Japan-only for now, given that the Sengoku-based games and media are pretty popular outside of Japan, Nexon might decide to roll it out to the game in other regions. We’ll just have to wait and see. 画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画画 | 画画画画画画画画画画画 Source: 4Gamer

Is this the final battle?! TYPE-MOON is popular with series such as Mahou Tsukai no Youru, Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero and other popular games/anime brand. The event started off by introducing what TYPE-MOON FES was about then they moved on to having a talkshow segment. Then there were performances that include the Fate/Zero opening and ending and acts such as LiSA, Aoi Eir, Kalafina and Haruna Runa. It was also the first time for the four artists to perform in the same event together.

Just recently held on the 7th and 8th July, the Nishioshin Tanabata event in Akihabara to celebrate what else– Tanabata! Tanabata-七七, meaning “Evening of the seventh” is a Japanese star festival, originating from the Chinese Qixi Festival. It celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively). According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar. The date of Tanabata varies by region of the country, but the first festivities begin on July 7 of the Gregorian calendar. The event is often celebrated by hanging tanzaku and decorations on bamboos. Not only that, since Tanabata varies from different regions, they do include some of the most common activities such as: Tanabata decoration competitions, decorated parades, Miss Tanabata contest, stalls that provide carnival games and definitely stalls that sell lots of yummy food! What are tanzaku, you ask? Well they are basically: Small strips of papers that people write their wishes on them and hang them up on bamboo together with other decorations. The bamboo with the tanzaku and decorations are then set afloat on a river or burned after the festival, around midnight or on the next day.

The event was also streamed live throughout Japan. (Source: lisani.jp)

Rumour: visual novel Fate/ stay night[Realta Nua] may be headed to the PS Vita Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/07/rumour-visual-novel-fatestaynightrealta-nua-may-be-headed-to-the-ps-vita/ By KarbyP on July 9th, 2012

The new character, Robin, will be played by veteran voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi (Saotome Ranma in Ranma 1/2, L in Death Note), the official website for the first Tiger & Bunny movie revealed via an update to its main cast listing. Robin is likely the new NEXT character that Masayuki Ozaki talked about during at a Tiger & Bunny panel session last week during Los Angeles’s Anime Expo 2012. At the panel he also mentioned that Tiger & Bunny -The Beginningwill depict events that were never shown in the original anime series – specifically those prior to episodes one and three – and that two-thirds of the movie comprises original animation. Also, now that it’s officially July 7, Saturday, a preview trailer (the one we told you about earlier today) and the key visual for Tiger & Bunny -The Beginning- have been unlocked on the website – you can view it at its homepage here.

File this under “rumour mill” for now, but according to a netizen who scored his copy of this month’s New Type magazine (August 2012 issue) early, Type-Moon’s Fate/ StayNight [Realta Nua] visual novel – an all-ages port of the original Fate/Stay Night PC title to the PS2 in 2007 – will see a PS Vita version later this year.

As much as we’d love to embed it here for your viewing pleasure, the trailer is not exactly on YouTube yet. Meanwhile, here’s the key visual for the movie:

The new version will feature animated cutscenes produced by Ufotable, and is slated for a November 29, 2012 release, to be sold for the price of 6,300 yen, or so the netizen claims. Gamers who pre-order will also receive a download code for a “Tobidase! Trouble Hanafuda Travel Journel 2 (working title)” (七七七七七七七七七七七七七七2七七七), an updated version of the pre-order bonus for the original PS2 Realta Nua. The likelihood of this being real? Quite. As earlier this year, Type-Moon released the three episodes contained within Fate/stay night [Realta Nua] – different paths for Saber, Rin, and Sakura – on the PC through digital distribution.

Tiger & Bunny -The Beginning- is the first of two movies that will re-tell the well-loved story in the original Sunrise anime series about a futuristic city – based on New York City – where superheroes are sponsored by major companies to fight crime and perform various heroic acts while being shot on camera in a reality game show that has the highest ratings in the world. The heroes compete for points, and a King of Heroes is crowned at the end of each season. 七七七 TIGER & BUNNY -The Beginning-

In a screenshot of Persona 4 Arena’s gallery mode that Atlus and Arc System Works released to Japanese media last week, you can see a sliver of what appears to be character portraits for Nanako Dojima (the little girl from Persona 4) and Fuuka Yamagishi (Persona 3). Fuuka Yamagishi (CV: Mamiko Noto)

Of course, this is all purely speculation at this point. But – I put this to you, Persona fans – can you think of any other character in the franchise to sport bangs or a forehead like that? Especially from amongst the cast of characters already announced for the game? Common sense would dictate that both characters would not appear in the game as selectable fighters. Nanako is way too young, and Fuuka has always took on a support role even way back in Persona 3, due to her frail body. So chances are these are additional announcer voices that we’re talking about (the default voice is that of Rise Kujikawa), either included on the game disc or, more likely, available as DLC. If Nanako and Fuuka are indeed featured in the game, could other characters from Persona 3 and 4 potentially be included in P4Arena in a similar capacity? Update: Given that the screenshot shows the game’s voice & sound effects gallery mode, for all we know Nanako and Fuuka might just be non-playabale characters that show up in the course of story mode via cutscenes. There’s no guarantee if these are indeed announcer voices. We’ll just have to wait for confirmation from Atlus and Arc System Works on that front – which should be soon given that the game comes out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan on July 26, and in the US on August 7. Importers, please note that the game will be region-locked, even on the PS3. Read more about the Persona series here on SGCafe! Source: Hachima 14

The tiny ahoge that the mosaic didn’t cover is also reminiscent of CHAN×CO’s art. Peyoung Dabaa by ZANEEDS is a song about the high chance of failure when preparing instant yakisoba from Peyoung, in which one fails to hold down the lid when draining the water, and the noodles end up in the sink. This new instant yakisoba from Family Mart is thus a reference to this song. Perhaps this picture might jog your memory:

The band will be performing for the first time overseas at AFA Indonesia, so if you’re a fan of them, do check it out!

Sea☆ A

Of course, being AFA’s cosplay ambassador, KANAME☆ will be gracing the event, which we are expecting another mob of fangirls trailing after him like they did for all the AFA’s, including AFA Malaysia a month back. We respect his dedication to cosplay as a hobby, and are happy to see him coming to Southeast Asia again! This isn’t his first time in Indonesia, as he was previously invited by C;LASH, a cosplay event in Indonesia, last year. C;LASH will be cooperating with the AFA committee to heighten the cosplay segments within AFA Indonesia, so be sure to keep track of the activities they will be having!

Next up, are the Anisong guests.

7!!

Our local girls Sea☆ A will be performing for its SoutheastAsian fans with hit songs from anime series such as CardFight! Vanguard’s “Dream Shooter” and Toriko‘s “Deli-Deli Delicious”. Sea☆ A is also currently recruiting more members, so do check out their official site and facebook for more information.

KOTOKO

The Queen of Visual Novel songs first performed in Southeast-Asia at AFA Malaysia, and this time she will be performing in AFA Indonesia! Her many other songs outside of Visual Novels include hit anime series such as Shakugan no Shana, Hayate no Gotoku, and most recently, Accel World. From our experience, her performance at AFA Malaysia was breathtaking, performing many crowd favourites like “Shooting Star”, “Being”, “Light my Fire”, “Re-sublimity” and even “-unfinished-”! Audiences will surely enjoy her electrifying performance at AFA Indonesia this year.

The band 7!! (pronounced as ‘seven oops’) is made up of four members Nanae (vocals), Michiru (guitar), Keita (bassist) and Maiko (drummer), with their origins from Okinawa.

Ichiro Mizuki

7!! was formed back when the members were still in high school, and they have performed for over 7 years since then. Despite their first major debut in 2011, the band, under Epic Records, have released several songs used in various movies and anime series. A few of them are “Fallin Love” as a theme song for the movie “High School Debut”, “Lovers” for the anime series Naruto: Shippuden , and “Bye Bye” for Kimi to Boku. What’s interesting also is that their promotional video had famous film personalities Satomi Ishihara and Kei Tanaka as characters featured inside.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure X Capcom: special weapons in Monster Hunter 3G, rumoured 2D fighter re-release Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/07/jojos-bizarre-adventure-x-capcomspecial-weapons-in-monster-hunter-3g-rumoured-2d-fighter-re-release/ By KarbyP on July 13th, 2012

LiSA first performed in Southeast-Asia at least year’s AFA’11 in Singapore, and totally rocked the floor with her amazing vocals. She was picked to be the singing voice of Yui in the fictional band “Girls Dead Monster” in hit anime series Angel Beats!, and her popularity soared ever since.

Looks like NTT DoCoMo isn’t the only company that’s doing a tie-up with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. According to the following Japanese magazine scan, uploaded by an anonymous netizen, the long-running manga series is also doing a collaboration with Capcom’s Monster Hunter 3G – in the form of JoJo-themed quests and equipment.

LiSA has released her first mini-album as well as her first full album, “Letters to U” and “LOVER”S”MILE” respectively. Her singles include songs for the hit anime series Fate/Zero, and her second single will be the opening theme song for this season’s anime series Sword Art Online. Catch the friendly and captivating rock singer LiSA at AFA Indonesia!

Stereopony Capcom will distribute the two JoJo-themed DLC quests on August 10 and 17 respectively. Players who partake in either of these quests will also be able to acquire equipment exclusive to the tie-up. But to do so they’ll first have to farm for the materials required to forge the pieces in question.

Many anime fans would have heard of this all-girl rock band from anime series Mobile Suit Gundam 00, which they performed the opening theme “Namida no Muko”. Aside from that, they have also performed for Bleach and Darker than Black with the songs “Hitohira no Hanabira” and “Tsukiakari no Michishirube” respectively. Their latest single “Chisana Mahou” was featured in Letter Bee REVERSE. The girl band also sang for Eureka Seven AO‘s ending theme, “Stand by Me”. Stereopony is no stranger to performing to an overseas audience, especially for western anime conventions such as Anime Boston, Sakura-con and SWSX2009. They have also held a live tour in USA, performing in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Santa Ana. The girls will surely rock your pants down (well, figuritively) at AFA Indonesia!

The first of these two equipment pieces, “The Mask of a Stand” (☆☆☆☆☆☆☆), is some sort of armour for your Felyne helper (correct me if I’m wrong, MonHun 3G players – from what I understand the ☆☆ class of equipment is Felyne-exclusive and gives your helper different traits and behaviour patterns). This piece is themed after the Harvest stand in Part IV: Diamond is Unbreakable. The Mask of a Stand can be forged as soon as you download the DLC quest to be distributed on August 10. A week after that, on August 17, players can begin to acquire a “Crazy D (Diamond)” hammer. This is themed after the Crazy Diamond stand, whose user Josuke Higashikata is the protagonist in Part IV. Although the Monster Hunter tie-up isn’t exactly as elegant as what the franchise is doing with DoCoMo, it’s still extremely heartening to see JoJo making the rounds to partner up with other companies – especially since it’s being adapted into an anime series, after all. Everything from now till the anime series’ airing date will only build up anticipation.

Still it strikes me as a little strange that Capcom would collaborate on something with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure at this point. Especially since Capcom’s development studios aren’t the ones enlisted to make Namco Bandai’s new JoJo All-Star Battle fighting game for the PS3. Sure, Capcom made a 2D JoJo fighter in the past… but that’s all in the past now. … Or is it? Yesterday some sharp-eyed netizens spotted the following list of Xbox Live achievements for something entitled “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD”.

Today’s reveal pretty much confirms that Capcom’s been hanging out with the cool boys over at Shueisha (who publishes JoJo), not that I ever doubted if the list of achievements were legit or not – leaked achievement lists were how the fighting games community found out about a Marvel vs Capcom 2 re-release, as well as Evil Ryu and Oni’s existence in SSF4 Arcade Edition, among other things. Just a matter of time before Capcom announces the JoJo rerelease, we think. Source: Xbox360Achievements Shoryuken, Crunchyroll]

5pb/MAGES Science Adventure Team will be holding the first live for the Science ADV game series, featuring songs from Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes.

Sega’s official website for the Ryu ga Gotoku (“Yakuza” in the West) series was updated today with a countdown graphic that says in Japanese: “Three more days to an important announcement.” Given that Sega chose to unveil this announcement-of-animpending announcement on the Ryu ga Gotoku series homepage, as opposed to the one for Ryu ga Gotoku 5 (the title means “Like a Dragon” by the way, in case you were wondering), chances are this has nothing to do with 5, which is slated for release on the PS3 this December. Netizens in Japan have mostly hedged their bets on an HD re-release of the first two Yakuza games for a current-gen PlayStation console (Ryu ga Gotoku 1 and 2 were released for the PS2), although all of it is just speculation at this point, so your guess is as good as theirs.

The live will be held on the 7th of October, at Pacifico Yokohama (Where the TYPE-MOON Festival was recently held). The lineup includes Itou Kanako, Phantasm (FES cv. Sakakibara Yui), nao, Afilia Saga East, and Zwei. There will also be a original story performance by the characters, featuring: Tomonaga Akane (Seira Orgel from Chaos;Head) Miyano Mamoru (Okabe Rintarou from Steins;Gate) Imai Asami (Makise Kurisu from Steins;Gate)

Other than a HD version of Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza 1 and 2, what else could the announcement possibly be? Another live-action movie or TV series, perhaps – the franchise saw a Takeshi Miike-directed movie in 2007. Before that, a prologue original video entitled “Ryu ga Gotoku ~Josho~ (→→→→ →→→→), also directed by Takeshi Miike, was released as a direct-to-video DVD in 2005. More recently, two TV series based on the PSP spin-off games Kurohyou: Ryu ga Gotoku Shinsho (Black Panther: Like a Dragon New Chapter) and Kurohyou 2: Ryo ga Gotoku Shinsho -Ashura hen- were broadcasted in Japan in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

1st trailer for Ano Hana PSP game re-introduces the Peace Busters (main characters) Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/07/ano-hana-psp-game-gets-firsttrailer/ By shia on July 19th, 2012

Mages has released the 1st trailer for the PSP game of the popular animation, “Ano hibi mita hana no namae wo bokutachi ha mada shiranai”(Ano hana) on 18th July 2012. The game will be a adventure game with multi-route splits and will delve into the story more than the animation did. Completely new story content will be added in and there will be a mode where players can interact with Menma.

Compile Heart has finally released the first trailer for forthcoming PS3 JRPG Kami Jigen Game Neptune V, the third game in the Hyperdimensional Neptunia series. I say fianlly because they’ve actually released quite a number of promotional videos for the game, mostly starring Izawa the former chief of a fictional Xbox 360 Special Forces Division (this is a series of commercials; it’s not an actual division at Xbox Japan) summoning various creators (Nobuo Uematsu for music) and various elements (Keiji Inafune ship???) for the game.

Ano hana is follows the story of 5 kids who have grown up after growing apart due to a unfortunate accident that claimed the life of one of their friends, in which the main protagonist, Jinta has become a shut-in after the accident, until one day he starts seeing the ghost of Meiko , the girl who had died in the accident. She returns with an unfulfilled wish that she has forgotten and hopes that Jinta can fufil it. The limited edition will come with a Special case, Drama CD, Dialogue book for the Drama CD a “Menma” and “Anaru” poster.

Now we finally get to see some actual gameplay. The Hyperdimensional Neptunia JRPG series are parodies inspired by real-world events that occurred in the games industry. The first two games depicted a war between the platform holders (represented by Goddesses) against piracy – specifically the R4 or Magic-Con flash cartridge for Nintendo DS, represented by a villain who’s literally named Arfoire in the English version. Kami Jigen Game Neptune V is set in G.C1989 (in the eventual English released this will probably be translated as “Gameindustri 1989), and is inspired by real-world events during the Sega Mega Drive and Famicom era. Series protagonist Neptune (CV: Rie Tanaka) somehow fell into a wormhole in time that takes her back into the past. There, she meets Pururut, voiced by Kana Hanazawa. Kami Jigen Game Neptune V is due on August 30 for the PlayStation 3 in Japan.

Ano Hana PSP is developed by Mages/5PB and will be out on sale August 30, 2012. The normal/limited edition costs 6,090 yen and 10,290 yen respectively. Source : Siliconera, Ano Hana PSP OHP

The world that God only Knows Limited Edition volume 19 to come with Tenri’s Arc OVA Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/07/world-the-god-only-knows-limitededition-vol19-to-come-with-tenris-arc-ova/ By shia on July 19th, 2012

Comic Natalie site reports that volume 19 of “神神神神神神神神 神”(The world that God only knows) limited edition will be packaged with an animation short of the Tenri arc.

While the image is of low quality, the text in the bubble does indicate a new PSP Ro-kyu-bu game in the works and it will be out in 2013. Ro-Kyu-Bu is a romance comedy about Hasegawa Subaru, who becomes the coach of a team of elementary school’s female basketball team by trying his best to bring up the standard of the team.

Keima Katsuragi is a gal-game otaku that would want nothing but to just chase after skirts in games. He answers a message from an unknown sender and finds himself chasing down real girls in an attempt to help Else, a demon to capture “lost souls” that have escaped from hell, lest he loses his head due to a collar that would swiftly end his life if he fails to do so. The story follows Keima as he capture girls and unravel the truth of the world. There has been 2 season of the animation but the story has not progressed to the current arc where Tenri and Diana are featured.

Ro-Kyu-Bu was originally conceived from a Novel and is in its 10th book. It also has an animation that was produced by studio Blanc and the first PSP game was produced by Bandai Namco. It was an adventure game most noted for having a Loli gauge and a sports gauge, where the player would try to improve the team or relationship with the girls.(You get a bad end of being arrested under certain circumstances) Update: Looks like Ascii Mediaworks has changed the picture and it is no longer available on the Comiket Goods preview site. At any rate, Swedish game studio, DICE, is going to be hard at work this Christmas.

On the 18th of July, book 17 and 18 of the manga was released where the Tenri arc begins. The OVA will be focusing on the Tenri and Diana who are not in the main animation series. The book is expected to be out on the 18th October 2012. No price has been announced as of press time. Source : Comic Natalie

Last week we ran a piece that discussed the possibility of Persona 3′s Fuuka Yamagishi being featured in Persona 4 Arena (Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena in Japan and Asia). Speculation on Fuuka’s inclusion began when some sharpeyed Persona fans noticed that a particular screenshot of the game’s gallery mode released to Japanese media featured tiny snippets of what appeared to be character portraits for Fuuka and Persona 4′s Nanako Dojima. This week we finally got some form of official confirmation: according to Weekly Famitsu magazine, Fuuka Yamagishi 8

July 19th, 2012

will indeed be selectable in Persona 4 Arena as an announcer voice (called a “navi-voice” in the game).

Published by: VR-Zone By KarbyP on July 19th, 2012

It’s not entirely clear from the cut-off text in the image below (bigger), but it appears that Fuuka’s navi-voice will be sold as DLC. Fans should also be pleased to see that Fuuka’s grown a pigtail and changed her look in the time gap between the end of Persona 3 and the beginning Persona 4 Arena (approximately three years):

Mad Catz-sponsored fighting games pro Taniguchi Hajime – better known as “Tokido” or “The Murder Face” to the fighting games community at large – will be coming down to Singapore next weekend (July 28 & 29) as part of the festivities here for Sony and Capcom’s Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament!

Although the multi-faceted pro gamer, who’s based in Japan’s Kanagawa prefecture and team-mates with Daigo Umehara, is most well-known for his achievements at Street Fighter tournaments, Tokido also plays Guilty Gear, BlazBlue and Tekken at a highly competitive level.

We still do not know for sure if the voice of Persona 4′s Nanako Dojima will also be available as a navi-voice in the game as well. But since Nanako’s character portrait is located right next to Fuuka’s, the obvious conjecture is that developer Arc System Works should be making a similar announcement for Nanako soon. Who else would you like to see featured as a navi-voice in Persona 4 Arena? Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) will hit stores in Japan and Asia on July 26, and in the US on August 7. Read more about Atlus’s Persona franchise here on SGCafe! Singapore: Come meet MCZ| Tokido at Sony and Capcom’s Street Fighter Anniversary Tournament next weekend

His talents in such games have led to fans christening him as one of the five fighting game gods in Japan (Daigo, Nuki, Haitani, Sako, and Tokido… in case you’re wondering, Mago the 2D God is not part of the quintuplet, because Mago’s title is self-asserted), and has also earned him nicknames like “The Murder Face” and “Ice Age” for his cool, calculated but ultimately devastating play. Here’s an example: So come on down to Wisma Atria, Level 1 Atirum next weekend – July 28 and 29 - to catch Tokido in action at the tournament grounds. Better still, if you’ve confident of your Street Fighter skills, take the Murder Face on. Go on, challenge him to a match (if you dare). We’re not sure if you’ll actually have to spot him at the event and ask politely to have a match, or if there will be a line formed just for getting your turn against Tokido. Just keep a look out for exuberant “oooh”s and “aaah”s from the crowd at the location, and you shouldn’t be too far away from the action. Oh, and just in case you’re actually a participant in the any of the 25th Anniversary tournaments, don’t worry, Tokido won’t actually be competing in them. He’s just here as a guest.

To celebrate the milestone, iPhone users will be getting 10 of “Stamina recovery Max” and “Tension recovery Max” items instead of the normal 3 of each once they complete the tutorial. On top of that, all users who start the game within this period will get a 7 day double XP and in game goods, making it an enticing preposition to begin the game now.

What is “Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection”?

Details from the official site states that the game Kyuukousha no Shojo is set in the town of Nanafushi Ootsgichou, a town known for its lush beautiful scenery, amidst its urban legends. Apparently at a school in town, stories of certain urban legend pertaining to seven mysteries has been spreading amongst the students. The as of yet unnamed main character of the game is particularly interested in a rather peculiar mystery, one which leads to a door in the school library that does not open. The game revolves around her search for clues that might help solve this mystery.

“Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection” is a dream collaboration realized by many creators that is the second set of Japan’s first CGM(Consume Generated Media) social game. The efforts come from a plethora of illustrators across multiple genres; whom some of them are drawing Miku and the rest of the Vocaloid characters for the first time. This is all for the sake of enabling and enhancing player experience through expanding their card collection and to reach the goal of completing their card collection libraries. Crypton expects to add more cards as an ongoing effort to showcase new artists.

How is the gameplay like? After a long wait of five months, Mobage social game “Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection” now supports iPhones. To celebrate that, Crypton Future Media(the people who brought us Vocaloids) are celebrating it with an event ingame. It was announced by Crypton Future Media on the 21st June 2012, that they would be working with DeNa, using their Mobage open platform system to extend support to include iPhone users for their popular card collection/nurturing simulation game “Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection” since its release in February 2012.

The game system requires the player to build a deck of 6 cards which he begins with.To increase the number of cards, the player must do quests or use the gachapon(mini lottery) to try their luck at getting new/rarer cards. A social game must have some form of social interaction, for this game, players will be able to interact with each other via a battle system. Players can pit their deck of cards in a 1 vs 1 situation and the side with the higher numbers of wins will win the overall match. While having strong cards will increase the chance of winning, players can apply tactics such as rearranging the deck order in such a way that their stronger cards are pitted 6

against the opponent’s weaker cards and thus gaining an overall victory through careful planning. Some cards have additional abilities that activate on certain conditions(Sun Graze: +300 singing/charisma only on Sundays) that might turn a lost cause into a stunning victory. Winners of this battle will gain XP and snatch a portion of their money and items of which can be used to further their goals of completing their collection of cards.

Clear the note with a well-timed button press, and you’ll activate Shining Burst, which will change the currently playing clip to the other one, and vice-versa. Although this may sound gimmicky in theory, it may in fact lead to some meaningful moments for Idolm@ster fans. For instance, for Chihaya Kisaragi’s (CV: Asami Imai) Yakusoku, you may choose to start playing with the following clip in the background:

Every song in Idolm@ster Shiny Festa has 2 PVs, switchable mid-song through “Shining Burst”

Then, when you hit the high point of the song, a Shooting Star note could change the clip to the following one, which depicts Chihaya’s childhood memories.

Also: package illustrations for each of the three different versions. What are you wanting for? Hit the jump to the full story!

Another example. In the song Gero Gero Kitchen, a Shooting Star appears right after Chihaya yells “I’ve got it, gero!” (・・ ・・・・・).

Earlier this week we reported that Idolm@ster Shiny Festa will feature a “Shining Burst” play mechanic that will let you activate a special cutscene mid-song, if you do well. We had thought this to be similar to climax scenes in Hatsune Miku Project Diva F. But as it turns out, Idolm@ster Shining Festa‘s implementation is quite different: each song in the game will actually feature two different accompanying music video clips.

With a well-time button press you could swap clips and have Chihaya appear in an elegant stage costume.

You can choose to start the song with either playing in the background. There is also an option to disable Shining Bursts completely, so that you’ll stick to the same music clip for the entire song. During play, as you rack up combos through well-timed button presses, your “・ (Kirameki) meter” will begin to fill. This meter is no different from the life or pass/fail meter in other rhythm action titles. When it’s completely filled, at specific points in a song, a “Shooting Star” note will appear on the screen. 7

We’ve just received word from New Era, the distributor for Hatsune Miku Project Diva F in Asia that the protective skin will indeed be presented to gamers who pre-order at stores in the following countries: Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, The Philippines, and Indonesia. For more details, check with your local games retailer. Even if they don’t know whether they’ll receive the PS Vita skin or not, check with them if they’re getting their copies from New Era or elsewhere. Only the New Era copies will come with the pre-order bonus. Other pre-order bonuses that New Era has brought in for gamers include a Sonic-themed notepad and pin badge that came with purchases of Sonic Generations (Xbox 360, PS3).

We last heard about Final Fantasy Versus XIII quite some months ago in March. It went missing during E3 and we have not heard of it since. That is until Kotaku found some sources suggesting “that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is officially cancelled”. Kotaku also had another source suggesting that resources used to produce Final Fantasy Versus XIII had been folded into the sequel, Final Fantasy XV. With Final Fantasy XV gracing E3 instead of Versus XIII, will Final Fantasy XV be taking center stage once more at Tokyo Game Show (come September) while Versus XIII walk the same lonely path as Starcraft Ghost? A new promotional video for Robotics;Notes, which will air on FujiTV’s NoitaminA time slot come this October, has been unveiled on the show’s official website.

Whenever a game maker announces that their latest title will come with a cool pre-order bonus item, gamers in Singapore and other regions outside Japan alike worry about if they’ll receive the bonus item when they purchase the title in retail stores in Singapore. That’s especially the case with the Hatsune Miku PS Vita protective skin that’ll be offered to gamers who pre-order Sega’s Project Diva F in Japan – especially since you won’t be able to buy this protective skin anywhere else, and since the skin is designed to match one of the game’s loading screens.

Robotics;Notes is the third entry in 5pb and Nitroplus’s Science Adventure series of visual-novel games and anime franchise. Set in 2019, it tells the story of a group of otakus – a fighting game otaku, an anime otaku, a robot otaku, urban legend otaku, and a 2ch otaku – who band together through a series of events that eventually lead to the building of a lifesized giant robo that will save the world. Itou Kanako’s Sora no Shita no Soukanzu is used as the background music for this PV. It is also the ending theme for the game. We’ll have more on Robotics;Notes soon. Charge into a certain opening cinematic (before it begins, details on forum and youtube links) For the barbarian exploit, it certainly isn’t as strong as the Wizard one, but comes close enough that you shouldn’t be able to die at all. Since players who knew about these exploits are only just ‘releasing’ it to the public, goodness knows how much cash they have earned off the RMAH. Blizzard has announced that they will be attempting to hotfix the wizard exploit as soon as possible, but there has been no announcements about the barbarian one.

The game has teased fans since May 2006 at E3. This year, the game has gone mysteriously missing from the game showcase at Los Angeleus. In its place, a CGI teaser trailer of Final Fantasy XV entertained the crowds. A similar maneuver was used in 2006 when Blizzard quietly killed off Starcraft Ghost while everyone were distracted by World of Warcraft.

“Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena” to be adapted into manga series Source: http://sgcafe.com/2012/07/persona-4-the-ultimate-inmayonaka-arena-to-be-adapted-into-manga-series/ By KarbyP on July 25th, 2012

The Street Fighter® 25th Anniversary Chess Set is limited to 5000 sets, each of the chess pieces are resin pieces painted with silver and pewter colored paints. The Roster(Using their American names) includes Ryu & M.Bison as kings, Chun-Li and Juri as queens, Ken, Guile, Balrog & Vega as bishops, E. Honda, Blanka, Rolento & Akuma as knights, Dhalsim, Zangief, Sagat & Seth as rooks and Ryu’s fist & Shadaloo winged skull as the pawns.

The official Persona publicity blog announced today that Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (also known as “Persona 4 Arena” in the West), due to be released in Japan and Asia this Thursday, will be adapted into a manga series and serialised in Persona Magazine, beginning with issue #10. This adaptation is a straight-up “comicalization”, which is industry lingo for “the comic or manga series will follow after the story as detailed in the original work” which, in this case, would refer to the 30 to 40-hour long story mode in Persona 4 Arena. Although both the game and manga series will essentially be telling the same story, Atlus says that the manga series will render the story’s intense moments with a sense of action that’s only possible in manga format. Aiya Kyuu, the manga artist and author for Monthly Comic Gene’s Antimagia, will illustrate the P4U manga series.

The storage case doubles as a chessboard and will be made of high quality black wood with a glass surface for collectors to display the chess pieces. The Street Fighter® 25th Anniversary Chess Set will retail at US$299.95 with an expected release date in August 2012 and it will be a Capcom store exclusive.

Persona Magazine #10, published by Dengeki, will go on sale in Japan August 10 for 840 yen. Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena the game (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) comes out in Japan and Asia on July 26, this Thursday, and is due to be released in the US August 7. Even if you don’t manage to land a copy of Persona 4 Arena right now, don’t fret. Just because the stocks have yet to arrive at your favourite games retailer, doesn’t mean you can’t play the game. Our good friends over at Tough Cookie Gaming Cafe have relayed word that they’ve brought in four copies of the game for patrons to take on each other in a lag-free environment. And since TCGC is the console LAN cafe in Singapore that’s geared towards fighting games enthusiasts, every single PS3 in the shop is hooked up with two or more arcade joysticks – so you won’t have to bring yours. Tough Cookie Gaming Cafe is located within Parklane Shopping Mall, level 2 (35 Selegie Road #02-25B, Singapore 188307). Its opening hours are from 11AM to 3AM on most days. Rates are as follows (subject to change beginning August): CONSOLE $2 per person per hour (you’re not tied to a single console, so feel free to mingle) $10 whole day LAN $2 per person per hour

And if you do have a copy of Persona 4 Arena, come on in and join the SGCafe Mayonaka Arena Investigation Team (list of players’ PSN IDs)! Max out your Social Links! We’ve received word from a number of readers that even though Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (Persona 4 Arena in the West) is supposed to be released today, a number of retailers here in Singapore have apparently not received their copies yet.

Introduce yourself Hello! I’m Kirisaki from Singapore. Forever a poor student saving up for cosplay stuff and eating grass one day at a time. Ive been cosplaying for a few years. Perhaps about 4 to 5?, I can’t really remember the specifics but anyway nice to meet ya! Why do you cosplay? For fun, interest and everything nice.

What was your silliest cosplays moment? Well it ranges from nearly tripping over your own gown to having your wig blown into unrecognizable styles to climbing over obstructions just to shoot at inaccessible places. I will consider the last one as somewhat an achievement though LOL XD. What is your most favorite character to cosplays as? I don’t think I have one. But I like running around in big gowns and glorious looking costumes just to impress myself with my own inadequate costume making skills ROFL.

What and when was your first cosplay? It was princess princess, somewhere back in 2007/2008? I don’t even want to remember anymore, it was soooooooooooo bad. How do you choose the characters that you cosplay? They usually come from the series that I like, it might not necessarily be my favorite characters, but they are just likeable. I take into consideration costume difficulty and whether or not I’m suited for the character, looks and portrayal wise.

What is your most memorable cosplay experience? I will give it to one of my first cosplay photoshoots I had quite some years ago. Woke up at 4am just to prepare and leave the house to capture the sunrise. Turns out me and my partner sacrificed our sleep for nothing because it started raining around 6am. The one thing I learnt from cosplay shoots would be “Never trust the weather forecast!”

Where do your costumes come from? Do share! Self made! Can’t recall when was the last time I bought a costume from somewhere. As far as I can remember I’ve been tailoring my own costumes since 2-3 years ago. Self made costumes are much more cheaper haha, and that’s my main motivation to sew! 8D Do you have any Cosplayers that you look up to? YEEEESSSSSS. I’m biased towards Korean cosplayers. I like Kotaro in particular! <3 Other than that I really admire their costume making skills and complexion and figure and shoot location and yea you get the idea. I follow a lot of Japanese cosplayers on cure as well! Just too many to name them all ):

Famed Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada graced our shores recently, stopping by Singapore’s Bugis Junction shopping mall for a fan-anticipated meet-and-greet session held in the mall’s TKA Virtualand Arcade, a place well known by the local fighting game community. Directors of Harada’s stature rarely visit Singapore, but for this eventful day we were eagerly there to meet the man that made Namco Bandai’s Tekken series an icon in the gaming world.

Were there any changes in your life after cosplay? Not in particular, except for the fact that while my schoolmates are out having fun and chilling, I’m stuck at home sewing costume and hoping that my props will make themselves.

(Above) Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada and Tekken Project Senior Game Designer Michael Murray

Is there anything that you would like to say to all your fellow Cosplayers out there? Hello and hello again. Nice seeing you all 8D Hopefully I can get to meet new people at every event! Do say hi if you see me hanging around at events <3 ~ ~KiriSaki For more information, check out the following links

The event started off to an already enthusiastic crowd by 7pm in the evening. Organised by Namco Bandai Partners Singapore, the meet-and-greet was held at exactly right where any fighting game enthusiast would dream of, in the heart of the arcade itself. Amongst a row of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 arcade machines a special one-day-only ministage set-up stands tall for all to see. With a table ready for an autograph session later on in the day, it also came along with an Arcade Machine setup that had a demo of the console version of Tekken Tag 2 Tournament for fans to try out.

Mr Harada arrived together with Tekken Project’s Senior Game Deisgner Michael Murray, who also translated on behalf of Harada for this segment of the day, where fans get a chance to ask any questions about Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Ranging from questions like the game’s balancing of characters, to gameplay systems it was indeed time to quiz Harada. Harada himself offered detailed answers for each and every one of the fan questions.

Published by: VR-Zone

Autographs are one of the main attraction in most meet and greet sessions, a good memorabilia for many enthusiasts. Fans mostly have their own something for a signature by Harada. From Tekken games to stickers, cards, posters, Harada was generous enough to sign on anything, and as for me I got my special flag inked by Harada.

In fact, Harada had more than just an answer to every fan’s question. This next segment has the Namco Bandai staff offering an autographed Tekken Tag Tournament 2 poster to 8 lucky fans who answers a question from Namco Bandai staff correctly, the questions themselves test the in depth knowledge of a Tekken enthusiast. Nonetheless the responsive crowd got the answers and the lucky ones got the giveaway posters home.

Harada is not known to shy away from his fan’s requests, and what better way to share with his fans then posing for photos with his own characters cosplayed by our talented local duo. Tekken characters Alisa and Marshall Law turned up for the event much to the delight of many fans ending the day with a myriad of photos.
