ROOTS was created to highlight the diversity that black people posses. Our objective was to praise and admire this beautiful cultural diversity of our people. In creating this series we ourselves learned that our beauty as a people is not a thing that could be acquired or consumed but rather something that we just had to be and in being we strive to glorify ourselves and our beauty in an society that has demeaned us. "I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made...my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in secret, when I was woven together from the depths of the earth." -Psalm 139:15 Merely describing ourselves as black and the realisation that our beauty lies in the eyes of the Beholder has compelled our souls to be more courageous in embracing and adorning this melanin in our skin. We hope that our viewers get to experience the same realisations upon looking at this series.
