One name, two worlds, multiple events, this is our calculation for this exhibition A name is a type of symbol. We often assign a name to a particular object or individual, and declare their uniqueness; in terms of art we call them artists. An artist with a particular name, provided the world with a particular method of expression or style, thus expanding the possibility of art.

If by coincidence we found two completely different form and style under the same name, then of course we will be surprised, probably guessing the artist with that name might have a schizophrenic condition. However both personalities reveal outstanding artistic soul. In actual fact it is not schizophrenia, we use this similarity in their names to connect the two entirely different ways of constructing a visual world. Sheu Jer-Yu looks at the world through his photography and questions the world as a whole: what is the relationship between the screen and the world? How does conceptual thinking help name the world? Opposite to this kind of generalizing questions, Hsu Che-Yu concentrates on the news incidents and studies the elements that make up the events, and how those elements create our world: Just what sort of basic actions became the limit to our imagination? How does the arrangement of visual description in chronological order create a complete news event? The two artists, Sheu Jer-Yu and Hsu Che-Yu use photography and animation respectively to describe the world. Juxtaposing their works create a dialogue, the world within the screen and the screen within the world, which is the one that was created? Is the outside world a creation from an individual s aesthetic event, or the creation of an individual s aesthetic event is actually part of the outside world? Juxtaposing the two artists works together creates a closed loop; inside this loop we can no longer distinguish the size nor boundaries of the events. Every event undergoes a topological transformation, and they no longer arrive before our eyes in the way we are used to: they expand, contract, stretch, compress, skew and rotate. Maybe the real form of this type of event is actually events that exist only inside the screen and the reason why news events can be unlimited transformed and skewed.
