or this project, the idea was to optimize the blioclimatic efficiency controlling the orientation of the building, the materials, the sun protection and the heating/cooling systems.
The Building consists in 4 volumes: three volumes facing to the South, and one with East/West orientation that join the others.

he relationship between the intervention and the industrial environment of the area is reinforced through several elements that show the sculptural power of the metallic materials and their capacity to create new spaces. The capacity of the metallic mesh to create a uniform surface, allows to homogenize the front of the building. The spiral shape gives a movement feeling to the train station and a sculptural sense to the whole intervention. This feeling is reinforced with the two “waves that connect the station to the mall. The volumes of the shops are container boxes that remark the industrial character.

labeaga is an old industrial neighbourhood of Bilbao that these days is being reurbanized by Zaha Hadid. This area was an important harbor of Spain. The intervention is in a small area next to the Nervion River. On one side there is a boardwalk along the river and on the other the base of a hill, with many infrastructures: two railway lanes, a road and a highway. So for this project I decided to design an industrial look building but modern at the same time. There are two volumes in two different levels, the one on the top seems to be floating over the entrance hall. In fact, it is “hanging” from a powerful steel structure that leaves a column-free space. In this upper box is located the gymnasium, the locker room, the office and a conference room. In The lower floor is located the entrance hall with a bar/café with a visual connection with the boat warehouse.

For my Final Project I chose the same topic and location as the Rowing Club, by recommendation of my professor. This time the building is over the water, and it is intended to look like an old ship or nautical construction. It has two floors. The lower one is for the boats, gymnasium and locker rooms. The warehouse of the boats opens directly onto the river so the boats can get easily to the water.
The second floor is for public use and it has a bar/restaurant, a library, an office, conference room, and multipurpose space. The principal access to this floor is a long ramp.
