Greetings, As duly elected Mayor of the Town of Vulcan, I wish you warm greetings and welcome to our magnificent little Town. Located almost equally distant between the cities of Calgary and Lethbridge, Vulcan offers all the amenities of comfortable living, yet presents the peace and serenity of country living. Surrounded by miles of thriving farmland and ranch lands, Vulcan is the hub of an active community within the County. Once home for some of the major grain operations and elevators for the area, Vulcan today is the largest community in the county, rich in history and lifestyle. Currently with a population of just under two thousand residents, Vulcan still continues to offer most of the recreational programs the large centres offer, including an eighteen-hole golf course, ball diamonds, walking paths, and an exercise centre. Our business centre also offers many amenities, such as ladies’ wear, computer shops, meat market, a large and modern grocery store, jewellery store, gift shop, bakery, pharmacy, candy store, motels and hotels, and several restaurants. A twenty-four hour emergency service is incorporated into our hospital and is home for our doctor’s offices and day clinics. Many churches are in the area, hosting many denominations. There is also a very active library and seniors centre. Other organizations -- such as the Kinsmen, Lions, and Masonic Order -- support all kinds of programs and projects in the community when needed. As a major contributor in World War II, Vulcan was one of the foremost areas for which pilots received their training prior to being transferred overseas. Today, Vulcan still honors these servicemen and women with monuments depicting our memory to them. Along with this, Vulcan has a very active Legion Hall, which benefits our veterans and is used for other occasions, such as gatherings and town hall meetings. Vulcan is a great place to live and thrive, where your neighbors soon become your friends. Vulcan is a great community, where the lifestyle slows down and the fresh air will make you feel relaxed and rested. Come visit the Town of Vulcan, I am sure you’ll want to stay. The Honorable, Howard Dirks, Mayor, Town of Vulcan

Vulcan – A Development Gateway to the World Both economically and substantially, the Town of Vulcan Development provides a gateway to many new businesses wanting to set foot onto the corporate stage. Set between the CPR tracks and Highway 23, the Industrial Park has a grand setting to provide a surplus of commodities for the town and surrounding area. With this comes a commercial sector that is both viable to the small and mid-size business structure. Located between Lethbridge and Calgary the town of Vulcan can be an entrance to business opportunities affordable to the professional entrepreneur. The Town of Vulcan wants to set a benchmark as the hub of development for the County and area. With its branding plan in place, the town is able to move forward with new ideas and initiatives to move the Town into not only an economic secure foundation, but to be the best technologically-advanced Town in Canada. The inspiration and desire to obtain this development through colleges and government support opens a broad new area to bring Vulcan into new innovative ways that will provide the business community a more efficient and quality resource to work from. As municipalities expand and space becomes less available, Vulcan is continuing to create viable market growth in both sectors. Businesses have the freedom of continuing growth, with little interference both administratively and tangibly.
With a strong Chamber of Commerce, the Vulcan Business Development Society (VBDS), and the Vulcan Brand Innovation Team (VBIT), business within the community can find support and programs which can help get them started and achieve success through opportunities. Residential development is also a major player within the boundaries of the town. Currently, a large subdivision is underway and is surrounded by the Town’s magnificent 18-hole golf course. Within the town, quaint historic homes on large lots provide space, peace and tranquility. The Town’s infrastructure department takes pride in preserving our vegetation, in particularly the large tree program and grooming. The Town continues to provide good infrastructure to support and maintain Town activity. Communities in Bloom is an organization that takes extreme pride in sustaining the Town’s floral program, and keeping the downtown core beautiful during the growing season. So if you’re thinking of a new lifestyle and business change, consider the Town of Vulcan as your next opportunity. Jeff Johnstone Economic and Development Officer Town of Vulcan
Vulcan Airport With an 18-hole scenic golf course close by, the Vulcan airport flying club hosts regular activities such as the famous fly-in breakfasts, training days for the cadets, and club gatherings. The airport is also very close to residential lots with homes for sale for all types of families. A curling rink, baseball diamonds, rodeo grounds, and a great small town quiet atmosphere make the Town of Vulcan so very special. The Town of Vulcan offers the opportunity for the business flying specialist to travel to his work destinations with his aircraft, while knowing that his family and lifestyle are secure in Vulcan. On behalf of the Town of Vulcan, I would like to extend greetings to all pilots who are new to our airport and to those who have flown here before. Welcome! The Vulcan airport is a wonderful little airport that was established in the early 1980’s. The airport itself has a lot to offer, with a 2950’ paved runway (16/34), a 2100’ grass runway (05/23), large lots with taxiway access, a terminal, and a great open concept, whether you are flying in for the day or possibly considering the Vulcan airport as the new home for your aircraft. The airport lot sites are available to anyone who owns an aircraft and can be leased for a dollar ($1.00) per year! Once you have purchased your desired lot, you can design and construct your building to suit your requirements. The airport is also very close to town, and has easy access to all amenities.
The Vulcan airport is a wonderful opportunity to have business, recreational, and family lifestyle all in one. So next time, consider the Vulcan airport as your one stop destination. The Vulcan Flying Club Vulcan Town and County Airport Commission
Recreation
Sid Hartung Memorial Rodeo in August. The Vulcan Arena opens in early fall and goes until spring. It’s jam-packed with activities for young and old alike. The Town of Vulcan Recreation Department can’t imagine a better way to get to know a community than by participating in recreational activities. In Vulcan, there are so many things going on that it just might be impossible to take them all in. Starting with everyone’s favourite summer place to cool off, our outdoor 6-lane swimming pool offers swimming lessons, fun days, plenty of public swimming, and a spray park. New this year is our aquatic climbing wall. While you are there, you can play a game of beach volleyball, or get your skateboard rolling at our skateboard park. You might also find yourself playing a round or two on our challenging 18-hole golf course.
Whether you prefer skating on your own or being part of a group, we have what you are looking for. If skating isn’t your thing you can get swept away with Vulcan’s Curling Club or enjoy the concert series that bring entertainment to your door step.
Our summer isn’t complete without our Spock Days celebration and the Tinman Triathlon in June, Show and Shine with their demolition derby in July, and the
Spring has everyone itching to get out and enjoy the warmer weather, and getting involved in soccer, minor baseball or adult slo-pitch is the way to do just that. The 5km paved path is a great way to step outside all year round, and get moving. So come on, let’s get active in Vulcan together! Bonnie Ellis Department of Recreation Town of Vulcan
