Disaster Awareness Preparedness Week

NSTP The National Service Training Program (NSTP), which is sometimes dismissed as just a graduation requirement, has a major effect on students that goes far beyond drills and community service requirements. This seemingly ordinary course develops values and critical thinking abilities that help young people become responsible adults and engaged members of society. The program's a lot of things, which range from workshops on civic leadership to training on disaster preparedness, give students real-world abilities that they may use in a variety of settings. Through exercises and simulations, students acquire key problem-solving, emergency response, and self-reliance in this program. The course places a strong emphasis on leadership, teamwork, and communication—skills that are essential for both personal and professional success. Additionally, NSTP teaches students how to be flexible and adaptive in a variety of settings—a vital ability for navigating life's difficulties. This program gives the students the skills and knowledge they need to deal with life's challenges and make a positive impact on society. It's about laying the groundwork for a future of involved, accountable, and resilient citizens—not just about drills and service hours. Thus, let's acknowledge its ability to, one service project, one acquired skill, and one act of civic responsibility at a time, empower students, improve communities, and create a brighter future for our country.

NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EVACUATION DRILL 2023 Prior to the first simultaneous earthquake and fire drill, my friend and I went around the school to conduct some monitoring reports. At around one in the afternoon, the evacuation drill started. Following the sound of the ring bell, every student lined up and marched to the assembly area. The team leader began the headcount, and following that the responses team or evacuation team announced that everything was clear and no one was hurt. Despite the chaos, there was an odd feeling of unity as we waited for the statements of the response team.

What have I learned during fire drill that staying calm and focus is one of the most important thing it will help you to have clear thinking and prioritizing actions under pressure. Coordination and teamwork are needed during fire drills. During the session, I saw students as well as educators cooperating, playing their assigned duties, and making sure that everyone was safe. The scenario might have shown how crucial community support and collaboration are when faced with difficult circumstances. Recall that despite the peculiar circumstances, there are several applications for the life lessons that may be gained from that fire drill. It encouraged teamwork, resilience, and adaptability—all necessary traits to deal with a variety of obstacles and unforeseen circumstances.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

In this activity it teaches us how to proper solid waste management at home. We create bins that are specifically labeled for solid, residual, and biodegradable waste. Food scraps, fruit and vegetable peels, eggshells, coffee grounds, tea bags, yard debris, and paper towels are examples of biodegradable waste that breaks down organically. Non-biodegradable and non-recyclable materials such as plastic bags, food packaging, cellophane wrappers, disposable plates and cups, tissues, and sanitary goods are referred to as residual waste. Lastly, recyclable materials include glass, plastic, and paper and cardboard. Before recycling rinse out containers, and consider investing in a small sorter with compartments for different materials.

What have I learned in this activity is that The most impactful way to manage waste is to not generate it in the first place. I've learned about various strategies like avoiding unnecessary packaging, buying in bulk, choosing reusable items over disposable ones, and repairing before replacing and knowing what goes into which bin is crucial for effective waste management. Overall, managing solid waste effectively requires a multi-pronged approach that focuses on reduction, responsible sorting and disposal, community engagement, and technological advancements. By continuously learning and adapting, we can move towards a more sustainable future where waste is minimized and managed efficiently.

Every drop counts when it comes to water conservation, so I always make sure to close the water faucet properly. Even little adjustments to regular routines can result in big water savings. Fixing leaking faucets, using water-efficient appliances, and cutting down on shower time can all have a significant impact. Not only may water conservation save water, but it also lowers the energy needed for heating, treating, and pumping water.

WATER CONSERVATION In energy conservation is the most hardest part of how to conserve. We constantly use power, therefore the most important thing I do is make sure to unplug any electronics I'm not using. It can also have a significant influence to switch off lights and appliances when not in use. and I make sure to just open my window for fresh air and turn off my air conditioner because doing so can greatly lower energy usage.

FAMILY EVALUATION PLAN, FIRST AID KITAND DISASTER SUPPLY KIT

HOW TO BE PREPARED ?

This practice teaches us the value of planning and how to be prepared. Ensuring everyone's safety requires having a practiced evacuation plan for various emergency scenarios. aids in the identification of every possible escape route from your house, place of employment, or any other frequently visited spot. and make sure that the plan includes everyone who has to be evacuated, including children, pets, and individuals with special needs.

We must be ready for anything unexpected, such as It's essential to keep a fully stocked first-aid kit close at hand in order to respond to small wounds and mishaps and to remain composed and composed when faced with an emergency in order to assess the extent of the damage and decide on the best course of action. Also Consider including items like food and water for several days, first-aid supplies, shelter materials, fire-starting tools, navigation tools, communication devices, and emergency lighting. In the event of an emergency, your survival kit should be simple to transport and easily accessible. and additionally On a Regular Basis Regularly check that the contents in your survival kit are not damaged or expired, and replace them as needed.

Mangrove planting was not easy as it is sound but it was very fun experience. During the activity I learned how to plant properly the mangroves and how mangrove have different types which is very new to me. But One of the most important learnings from mangrove planting is the importance of working together to achieve a common goal. Mangrove planting is often a community effort, with people from all walks of life coming together to plant trees and restore mangrove ecosystems. My experience planting mangroves involved more than just learning about ecosystems—it involved a major change in perspective. It was about recognizing our place in the intricate web of life, about embracing our responsibility to nurture and protect, and about cherishing the quiet victories of a seed taking root, a community uniting, and a sliver of green hope blossoming in the blue. This serves as a reminder of our interconnectedness and our shared responsibility for preserving the environment.

DURING THE CAMPAIGN

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AWARENESS WEEK

As part of the disaster preparedness awareness week, we are asked to organize into groups and conduct campaigns in classrooms. During these activities, we provide an explanation of the guidelines for earthquake and fire readiness. Following that, the evacuation exercise began exactly like the first one we conducted simultaneously. We formed neat lines and marched in the direction of the assembly location. and watch for the instructions from the response team. It is crucial to recognize that carrying out simultaneous evacuation drills necessitates thorough organization and thought. Participants' safety and mental health must be guaranteed at all costs. Simultaneous evacuation drills can be very helpful in creating a school community that is more resilient and safe.
