*PS: One major project that I just finished working for was for Walt Disney World Corpotation (07/1812/18). It is a new ride in the Magic Kingdom park but unfortunately I am not authorized to provide any drawings due to the client’s privacy agreement with my office. Mr Nelson Byun is aware of it and has seen drawings in person and knows about my role in it. If any information needed for it please contact me directly for any questions and more clarity. Thank you for understanding.

Firm: HHCP Architects Client: Xenia Hotels & Resorts Type: Hospitality Location: Orlando, FL Phase: Under Construction

HYATT GRAND CYPRESS - BALLROOM EXPANSION My role was to coordinate the development of this project. From Schematics to Design Documents to Construction Documents I had to make sure all of the architectural services were met for permits and the client’s satisfaction. I generated most of the drawings and details, life safety plans and code research. The challenge was the new expansion being a continuation of an existing building and its synthesis of attachemnt without any issues.

Firm: HHCP Architects Client: IAAPA Type: Commercial Location: Orlando, FL Phase: Under Construction

IAAPA WORLD HEADQUARTERS

The IAAPA World Headquarters was a challenge on its own. A huge organization with needs for fresh design, something that would stand out and reflect their role in the industry. I was part of the design team and came up with ideas for the final look. The exterior metal wave was an idea of what IAAPA represents, theme parks, rollercoasters, waves, transition. My part later on was in the details and modifying exterior elevations.

Firm: HHCP Architects Client: Orange County Type: Commercial Location: Orlando, FL Phase: Completed

ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE- DISNEY SPRINGS

My role during this project was to address permit comments and apply revisions. I refined the wall details to show what was needed as well as the curtain wall details that were also requested. I also addressed some comments in regards of the fire rating walls and their tags before the revision was fully answered.

Firm: HHCP Architects Client: Wallack Parking Type: Commercial Location: Orlando, FL Phase: Under Construction

HOLLYWOOD PLAZA PARKING GARAGE This project had many phases until the client settled in the final design, adding a retail floor and a restaurant during the Design Development. My part was during the DD and CD phase was mostly generating Schedules, Elevations and Details. My role was also included in the permit comment revisions where my knowledge from previous project revisions helped the team address any issues quickly.

Firm: HHCP Architects Client: UCF Type: Residential | Healthcare Location: Orlando, FL Phase: Design Documentation

UCF LEGACY POINTE

This project is under Design Development and Documentation after various reviews and client changes. It is a mixed type building with an Individual Living segment on one side and Memory Care/Assisted Living/Skilled Nursing on the other, totalling about 250 rooms, so Health Care and Residential codes apply to it making different zonings and codes very deligate to determine. My role in this project is to code research about means of egress, stairs and elevator accessibilities, all restrooms and vernacular details on the exterior. It is a very challenging exercise with a lot of interesting points of interest and provides me with a chance to study code material.

THOROUGH ELEVATOR STUDY WITH SEVERAL MANUFACTURERS WAS CONDUCTED TO MEET CLIENTS NEEDS (SPEED, CAPACITY, TYPE, ETC) AND BUILDING’S SPACE REQUIREMENTS.

STAIR STUDIES TO BE ABLE TO SEE IF DIMENSIONS COMPLY WITH CODES.

Firm: Personal Client: Nirikos Hotel Type: Hospitality Location: Lefkada, Greece Phase: Conceptual This project was designed for a private client in Greece. It was for an exterior addition in the hotel’s bar area. The client only requested renderings and suggestions. This design will be developed by a local architect during next spring. NIGHT & DAYLIGHT STUDIES WERE PROVIDED

Firm: Personal Client: Botic Type: Residential Location: Orlando, FL Phase: Completed

Private client request for a landscape design for their home back yard. CAD drawings were provided and from there renderings were generated. Client’s request was met and project did develop.

Firm: Personal Client: Gunter Type: Residence Location: Winter Park, FL Phase: Under Construction

This private client requested for a new residence, our mission was to follow their needs with a touch of modern design and landscape. Our role of investigating setbacks, impervious ratios and city codes was challenging during the Construction Documents.

COMMUNITY WORK As being part of AIA’s YAF board and Junior Achievement of Central Florida Leadership Council’s Social chairman I managed to host some events for both organizations. My community reach is not only focused on the architecture field but also in the city of Orlando and being part of a certain group of young professionals in the Junior Achievement Council and help out with the younger generation I find it fascinating. My involvement in the YAF board is fairly new but I have already managed to become a strong lead for different activities surrounded by the local architecture scope. Through YAF I have also become an active member in a non-profitable organization called B.A.M. (Black Architects in the Making) which focuses on young minority students trying to get them to understand what architecture is. I have managed to put together several class segments for the lecturers to present such as 2 and 3 point perspectives, axonometric drawing techniques, etc. with a strong positive feedback.

Junior Achievement Career Success session at Freedom High School for Seniors and the feedback from the teacher. (V is me) “Hello Mariah, I meant to do this sooner, but I got busy. Anyways I just wanted to give some quick feedback on the JA volunteers. The first two volunteers were okay. I know there were some last minute changes that took place that may have caused them to be less prepared than would have been ideal so I dont fault them for being less than spectacular in delivering the lesson. My main reason in writing though is moreso to give praise to the last speaker we had, V (I forget his full name, but he just had us refer to him as V). He was extremely professional in contacting me for advice a week beforehand and showing up the day of well ahead of time so that we could discuss the lesson, his presentation, and working with my classes. Despite this being his first time speaking in front of a class he was very enthusiastic and engaging for the students. He seemed very happy to be doing this. I would definately reccommend using him as a volunteer again as he has a very diverse and interesting background that the students would benefit from hearing about. In general i think he gave my students a lot of good and valuable life lessons about college, being an entrepenuer and making informed decisions in the world at large. Sincerely, Blake Thompson”

Both JALC events hit record number of attendees and donations.
