VVOB is a non-profit organisation. Commissioned by the Flemish and Belgian governments, we contribute to the quality of education in developing countries. Our core business is to provide technical assistance in educational programmes. This way VVOB supports local capacity building as a means to stimulate sustainable development and poverty reduction.

In Belgium and Flanders Our VVOB head office in Brussels actively links educational institutes in our partner countries with those in Flanders. Hereby we stimulate longterm partnerships that might arise. Hence we increase the social basis
in Flanders for more solidarity in our society. We believe that long-term changes in developing countries can only be achieved if they go together with a change of mentality in the world.

Who we are
What we do
How we work
VVOB is the Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance. With a mandate from the Flemish and Belgian governments we contribute to the improvement of education in developing countries.
We aim to improve the quality of education by
Capacity building and technical assistance
zz Developing relevant learning contents zz Improving learner centred teaching methods zz Promoting efficient learning environments zz Supporting development and implementation of policies for quality education zz Strengthening teacher training zz ...
The programmes of VVOB systematically connect with the policy plans of the government in our partner countries. VVOB engages in processes lasting several years, whereby VVOB has the task to support, coach and facilitate. We primarily guide and support learners, teachers, lecturers, support staff, parents and school communities. We do not implement educational programmes. Our approach is to strengthen the capacity of our partner
institutions. They decide on their own course and keep the responsibility of carrying out their plans. To reach this goal we offer technical assistance through our national and international professional staff. To some degree we also finance investments as part of a global programme.
