Hello new members! My name is Vy and I serve as your Membership Development and Education Chair! I’m excited to showcase this New Member Menu to you all, because it essentially contains everything you need to know about our wonderful club! I can promise you that this booklet is your guide to being very knowledgeable about CSUF Circle K, as well as a cute little gift from yours truly. Whether this is your first club, first year of college, or first wholesome experience you’ve had, we are all a variety of people who share the same passion for selflessness to each other. We got community service, where we help those who struggle and are in need for friendly courtesy. We got leadership, where our knowledge and experiences may be able to pass on to the younger generations who are willing to become leaders. Don’t forget, we also have our fellowship coming along with lifelong friends to enjoy and supporting each other through tough situations. All those things can be combined to form an organization called Circle K, and I can ensure that we can all work together and provide everyone the most memorable experiences they would keep throughout their life!

Circle K 101 "Live to Serve, Love to Serve"
Ser vice is Our Daily Gr ind Cal State Fullerton Circle K’s 2018-2019 Tagline 4
The 3 Tenents of CKI As the largest collegiate community service organization worldwide, Circle K International embraces three tenets that define the Circle K experience. The three tenets are as follows:
Service
The core to our club. Our willingness to be selfless. Service is something we all want to do for others in need or struggle with a certain situation. Our hearts, of course, believe that providing community service to others can make an impact, and with that being said it should be something for the club can do to promote the action of “giving
Leadership
Personal growth, Inspiration, Education. We want to provide each generation our knowledge, experiences, and support. Having leaders that lead us to success potentially helps the club stay together. Helping others grow pushes them to be the best versions of themselves and prepare them for their future careers.
Fellowship Serves as our way to reach out to people! We all have our own connections and conversations we love to keep ahold of during our college experience.

Magic Kingdom Division A Message from Your Lt.G Hello CSUF CKI new members! Three years ago, I came into Cal State Fullerton Circle K as a new member and fell in love with this club, but also something much bigger than this club! Our club is part of the BIGGEST division in the entire Circle K International. We stand over 800 members strong across 10 clubs in Orange County. We are the Magic Kingdom Division of Circle K International. My name is Angela Lagrada and I serve as your Magic Kingdom Lieutenant Governor on the District Board. During the 2017-2018 term I served as the CSUF Circle K President and during the term before (2016-2017) I was the CSUF Circle K Public Relations Chair. Outside of the club, there are opportunities to get involved as well! On the divisional level, we have the Divisional Leadership Team (DLT) to assist the Lieutenant Governor. The positions differ each year. We have 2 CSUF members on the DLT this year - Darius Nguyen and Henry Pham! We also have divisional committees like the Media Team to help with publicizing events and event-specific committees. The division hosts monthly events from bonding, spirit, service, and more. We hope that we can connect you with other members in Magic Kingdom to make your experience in Circle K even more magical!

District Service Initiative Helping Those With Disabilities Every year, the CNH district of Circle K International chooses a District Service Initiative (DSI) to focus on for the respective term. This year it is “Helping Those with Disabilities” and it is a service goal that is achieved through various service projects that focuses on the DSI. Disabilities come in all forms. Some may be obvious, some may not but all disabilities impair a person’s life activity to various degrees which can make certain tasks difficult for them to accomplish. This year’s District Service Initiative aims to provide the resources to the disabled community in order to help them reach their personal goal and give them the opportunities that they deserve to be a part of their community.

Family & Big/Little Systems Our Family System and our Big/Little System was established for our members to encourage personal growth, inspiration, support, and success. The Big/Little System consists of a mentor and a mentee, and essentially, the mentor is there to guide their mentee(s) to reach their potential goals for the club as well as pushing them to be more selfless. The Family System was first established in 2016, and later began to rise popularity in terms of membership development. This term, we have 4 amazing Family Heads that will help lead each family to success, and to foster compassion and goodwill towards others through service, leadership, and fellowship!

Families MENU
Dank Espresso Family
Family Head: Daniela Vazquez
“Okay, so the reason why I chose my family name was because like me, an espresso is simple and straight since the only ingredient it has are coffee beans. Espressos are jolts of energy so in a sense the people in my family will also be like your hypewomans and hypemans who are always there to cheer people up and the club in general. And we're just dank in general, there's no special reason for that.”
Cortado Familia
Family Head: Adam Djabra
The reason why I chose my family name is because balance is important. Like a Cortado coffee, half espresso and half warm milk, I think this family will be both energetic fun side and have warm compassionate side as they blend together. I went with familia instead of family because of the homie Vin Diesel in Fast and Furious V. For the familia I look forward for them wholesome moments, good vibes, and us supporting each other in our endeavors. “Salud mi familia ”
Spicy Dirty Chai’s Family
Family Head: Ly Dang
"I chose Spicy Dirty Chai as my fam name because I couldn’t pick between tea or coffee, so I decided Dirty Chai would be a good combination. It’s also Spicy because SEASONING IS VERY IMPORTANT. As for my family…I am really looking forward to hanging out with them, getting to know them, studying and spending time with them in aesthetically pleasing places, and hopefully going on some super fun adventures!"
Vanilla Latte with Skim Milk Family
Family Head: John Avelino
15
"I chose the name Vanilla Latte with Skim Milk because Vanilla is ordinary. I am ordinary. So are my family members. To make us a little less basic however, the Skim Milk comes in to give us a little hint of weirdness because nobody likes skim milk in their lattes. That's weird. But in all seriousness, there's nothing serious about this family name. In this family we take things easy and we don't let what others think of us affect us. I'm looking forward to meeting my family and doing things with them, but most of all, I want to see this family make something extra-ordinary out of ourselves."
Member recognition program The Membership Recognition Program (MRP) is a tool to recognize members from all the schools under California-Nevada-Hawaii district. It recognize members who have demonstrated commitment to the three tenets: service, leadership, and fellowship. To order to achieve MRP ranking, an individual must be a paid member, reach a specific amount of service hours, and complete a certain number of tags. MRP rankings are as follow: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Bronze (50+ Hours)
Silver (80+ Hours)
Gold (130+ Hours)
Platinum (200+ Hours)

our Website
The CSUF CKI website can be utilized by anyone who wants to gain more information about this club or to access more club resources. Some information that can be retrieved through the website are total service, fellowship, and leadership hours, amount of money raised for the District Fundraising Initiatives, the history of CSUF CKI, the board officers, and more! You can also find more information in regards to future events, meeting times, as well as contact information if you have any questions. When you first get onto the website, it shows the outside of a coffee shop and our president at the door. Angela Lagrada thought of that idea and helped me execute it! The next page takes you to the Menu or everything there is on the website. I wanted to make the website more interactive, so I added a lot of hover images where you move your cursor over the picture and other information appears. I included an acronym sub-page because when I was a new member, I would get very confused with all these shortcuts of the events the club had. I hope the list can help members decode the acronyms. I would say the most important page on this website for the members is the Resources page because it contains all the forms and documents that is needed.

newsletters
Hello everyone! For the past and the following 6 months, I have created newsletters, graphics, and set up interclub opportunities alongside my committee to promote our amazing accomplishments at CSUF CKI. As your Public Relations Chair, I help promote opportunities for our members to interclub, and come up with ways to promote events on social media. Newsletters are a resource where you can find articles about events that have happened in each edition. We have members write about their experiences and share them through writing an article. Newsletters are also a tool to learn more about our club through upcoming events, recognition of accomplishments of our individual members, and through the experiences of each member on which event works well and which don’t. I hope you all look into our past 2 published editions “The Daily Espresso” and “The Latest Brew” published on issuu.com.

Cerf-ing
A CERF is a Club Event Report Form. Whenever you chair a service project or social, attend a meeting or anything Circle K related, fill out a CERF. A CERF template is available on the resources page of our club website www.csufcirclek.org and on the directory of our club’s Facebook groups. Here’s how to fill one out: 1. First download it. 2. Save the CERF in this format [YY.MM.DD Event Name] for example: We have a service project happening November 21, 2018 called We Give Thanks, save the CERF File as [18.11.21 We Give Thanks] 3. Fill out Event Tab: name of event, date, time, location, event chair, etc. Under the event tags section, put in X under each box that applies: if it’s a meeting, put an x in the administrative box. For socials or service projects, put an x in those respective boxes. For more information on each tag and when to use them, see the instructions tab or ask me. 4. Fill out Attendance Tab: List each member like so [Last Name, First Name] and organize the list in alphabetical order. Next to it, write how many hours they spent at the event and round to the nearest quarter hour. If they attended for 1 hour and 30 minutes, write 1.5. 5. If another Circle K or Kiwanis Club attends, write the name of the club and how many members from the club were present. List each club in alphabetical order. 6. Once finished, save the file and submit it via email to 21 csuf.circlek.secret@gmail.com.
CHAIring events 1. If you chair an event, first thing to do is create a signup sheet. 2. Promote the event in each Facebook group. 3. At least 2 days in advance, organize carpool, making sure each member has a ride and each driver can find their way. Remind everyone the day before. 4. Keep track of each member that comes and how long they attend. 5. Keep track of other Circle K or Kiwanis Clubs that may be in attendance and how many from each club attend. If we have at least 3 CSUF CKI members present and at least 2 from another Circle K or Kiwanis Family Club, it counts as an interclub. 6. When the event is over, do a quick pow wow before everyone leaves thanking them for coming and reiterate the impact. 7. Fill out a CERF and submit it to the club secretary.
member hosted workshops Now’s your chance to showcase your skills! Ever wonder if you wanted other people to be more educated about certain things you want to provide? your 2018-2019 (A word of advice from your loving board)
Josephine Chau | President
Improvise and seize the moment. Sure, following a routine and having everything mapped out may seem ideal but life is never perfectly structured. Learn how to be adaptable, to not take life too seriously, and always own up to and learn from your mistakes.
RJ Pacquing | Vice President of Admin. Enjoy everything and learn everything you can. College is one of the best times of your life.
Melody Tran | Vice President of Service College goes by fast so explore and take advantage of the opportunities that it has to offer! You never know what you’ll discover about yourself and the potential that you have so take risks and make the years count.
Michael Hayes | Secretary
Time goes by fast, so do your best to manage it well so you can stay on top of deadlines and make the most of every moment. It’s important to make school a top priority so you can get good grades and a good degree. If you have extra time in your schedule, think about leadership opportunities in Circle K; you can chair service projects, host workshops, be a family head, committee member or even a board officer on the club, district or international level. Follow your ambitions but without overextending yourself. Remember that as you go through college you aren’t alone; in this club there is always someone you can talk to whenever you need a friend. CKI has given me the opportunity to serve and realize my abilities while also making some great memories, friendships and life lessons that will stick with me forever and I wish the same for anyone that joins our CKI family!
Amy Cao | Treasurer
23
Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. I built up the courage to finally be more open in Circle K and it was the best decision I ever made. Sometimes it only takes one simple step to change your life in the best way possible. Also life is too short to care about what other people think about you. You do you!
club officers Kathy Tran | Fundraising Chair
Respect everyone and yourself, don’t be afraid to meet new people and make the best of your years in college since it will be hard to re-live the young moments.
Kelly Quach | Historian/Technology Chair Enjoy what is to come, and do not take life too seriously. Change is scary, but sometimes these changes are memorable and non regretful. Keep on laughing and make memories. PLEASE SLEEP AND EAT, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
Christina Lam | Kiwanis Family Chair Don’t ever force yourself to do something you’re not comfortable with. Make your own decisions and let others respect them.
Vy Nguyen | Membership Development & Education
Love what you do. Love the people who support you. LOVE YOURSELF.
Carl Hernandez | Member Recognition Chair
There is nothing in this world that is free without sacrificing an equal value or greater. The world is your canvas, make something out of it.
Michelle Hong | Public Relations Chair Take chances, because in the end, it's all about you
