THE CHAMELEON
A MEETING CONFERENCE AND MEDITATION CENTER
The project takes place at Douglas Russel Parks and Recreation in Arlington, Texas. Hidden within the park, there is a graveyard known as Lost Cemetery of Infants. Considering that it was a home for unwed mothers, there were bound to be some still births and other complications. With the water branch system within the park, students were asked to create a conference center and meditation place with an accommodation. The project examines the intention and seizing upon reflective and meditative part of the program. Towards that, the study of precedent Katsura Imperial Villa was an approach model to begin to analyze. The programs are all lifted on columns and on separated volumes to diminish the overall impact of the building of being compressed rather than intimate. Even though it is separated but unifies under one roof. The facade skin plays like a skin of a chameleon due to its materials of mirror that placed irregularly throughout the building and mimics the pattern of the existing trees in the park.

Overpopulation, homelessness, natural disasters. These are realities that architects are facing when designing now and for the future. In recent years, tiny homes have proven to be a positive solution for communities facing challenges such as population growth in urban areas, addressing homelessness, climate change and other natural disasters, and environmental degradation. Pipes are oriented for use/privacy needs. Convertible living spaces with ample light and views.

TR ANSFOR MATI ON 2 | Based on a grid earlier established by a cubist painting, this model shows a transformatopn in a myriad ways. The most prominent transformation that can be seen is that two dimensional plans to large and three dimensional volumes. Arranged in order of scale, smaller clustrered planes slowly begin their metamorphosis into less dense, volumetric figures that suspended in mid-air. Several ordering principles were used to define and create the model. The Fibonacci Sequence was used to increase the width of the planes as they changed from plane to volume. Color was used to create hiearachy
