Wavesound the Imprint will be the first audiobook collection dedicated to Australian readers, with stories written and narrated by Australians. In launching Wavesound, we have created a fantastic mix of award winners and bestsellers, as well as fiction and non-fiction. We kick off with Brooke Davis’ award-winning Lost and Found, an original and moving novel that has been awarded two ABIA awards, as well as shortlisted for the Debut Fiction award at the 2015 Indie Book Awards and the Australian Booksellers Association Neilsen Bookdata Booksellers Choice Award 2015. In August, we release Deborah Challinor’s bestselling historical novel Behind the Sun, which tells the story of four convict girls as they travel from London to the other side of the world.

Alongside this we have Beccy Cole’s stunning memoir, Poster Girl, revealing her life on the road as Australia’s best loved country singer. In September we have Maxine Beneba Clarke’s Foreign Soil; winner of the 2015 Indie Book Prize for Debut Fiction and the Literary Fiction Book of the Year at the 2015 ABIA awards – a collection of powerful and compelling stories also shortlisted for the 2015 Stella Prize.

July 2015 Lost and Found

Blood Secret

Love Your Sister

Brooke Davis

Jaye Ford

Samuel Johnson

An irresistible novel about the magic that happens when no one else is looking.

A teasingly crafted, nail-biting thriller that’s impossible to put down.

A searingly honest memoir of family, cancer, love… and unicycles by the founders of the Love Your Sister charity.

Millie Bird, seven years old and ever hopeful, is left by her mother in the underwear department of a local store. Agatha Pantha is eighty-two, and has not spoken to another human being since she was widowed seven years ago. Karl is eightyseven when his son leaves him at the nursing home, but in a moment of clarity and joy, he escapes. Millie, Agatha and Karl are about to break the rules and discover what living is all about.

Nothing ever happens in Haven Bay, which is why Rennie Carter – a woman who has been on the run for most of her life – stayed there. But that illusion of security is broken one night when Max Tully, the man she loves, vanishes without trace. Rennie, though, is the only person who believes Max is in danger, because she has a secret – a violent one that she’s terrified has found her again…

Connie and Samuel Johnson have always been close. After already surviving cancer twice, at 33 Connie was diagnosed with breast cancer. But this time she was told she will die. Connie’s brother Sam set off on a one-wheeled odyssey around Australia. The aim: to break the world record for the longest distance travelled on a unicycle, to raise $1 million for the Garvan Research Foundation, and most importantly, to remind women to be breast aware.

“ Heartbreaking and funny and brilliant.” Herald Sun

“ Lost & Found is a highly entertaining road trip and much, much more… bubbling with warmth and humour, it also explores loss, death, love and trust.” The West Australian

“ This was a compelling psychological thriller that kept me well and truly turning the pages at an increasingly frantic pace as it reached its stunning conclusion.” Great Aussie Reads

These two remarkable Australians share their tale, from childhood through to the finish line and beyond in this truly unique story. Part memoir, part travel diary, part conversation, Love Your Sister is an inspiring and unforgettable story that shows just how far one man will go for his sister.

“ Fear and adrenaline pulse through this novel about family ties, making mistakes and coming to terms with the past.” Books + Publishing

The Wild One

Deborah Challinor

Beccy Cole

Janet Gover

Four unlikely women on a perilous journey to a new world, and one enduring friendship.

Beccy Cole's inspirational memoir from the heart of Australian country music.

The wounds you can’t see are the hardest to heal…

Friday Woolfe is in London’s notorious Newgate gaol, awaiting transportation for prostitution and theft. There, she meets three other girls: intelligent and opportunistic thief, Sarah Morgan, naive young Rachel Winter, and reliable Harriet Clarke. On the voyage to New South Wales their friendship becomes an unbreakable bond – but there are others on board who will change their lives forever. And in the land behind the sun, the only thing they have is each other…

Daughter of a country music star, Carole Sturtzel, Beccy Cole is one of the most popular country singer-songwriters in Australia today. With refreshing candour, Beccy shares her story: her marriage and motherhood, becoming a single mother and maintaining the nurturing love of family. Performing for the Australian troops in Afghanistan. Coming out, and what it has meant for her and her fans. Taking control of her own life - and finding love.

Deborah Challinor was born in the Waikato, New Zealand, and currently lives in NSW, Australia. She has a PhD in history, and is the author of the bestselling Children of War trilogy.

Heartfelt and honest, Poster Girl is the inspirational memoir of a strong woman who epitomises the authentic spirit of country music, and of Australia.

September 2015 Foreign Soil

Redstone Station

Ugly

Maxine Beneba Clarke

Therese Creed

Robert Hoge

In this collection of multi-award-winning stories, Melbourne writer Maxine Beneba Clarke gives a voice to the disenfranchised, the lost, the downtrodden and the mistreated.

The story of a woman who'll do everything to preserve her family's proud farming heritage.

The unique and inspiring story of a boy born with the odds against him.

Alice Wilson is happy to be returning home to Redstone Station after two years at Agricultural College, having graduated with flying colours. Her grandfather Sam now sees Alice as the key to taking Redstone Station into a successful future.

Robert Hoge was born with a giant tumour on his forehead, severely distorted facial features and legs that were twisted and useless. His mother refused to look at her son, let alone bring him home. But home he went, to a life that, against the odds, was filled with joy, optimism and boyhood naughtiness. Ugly is Robert's account of that life, a story of an extraordinary person living an ordinary life, which is perhaps his greatest achievement of all.

In Melbourne's western suburbs, in a dilapidated block of flats, a young black mother is working on a collection of stories. The book is called Foreign Soil. Inside its covers, a desperate asylum seeker is pacing the hallways of Sydney's Villawood detention centre, a seven-year-old Sudanese boy has found solace in a bike, a young woman leaves rural Jamaica in search of her destiny, and a Sydney schoolgirl loses her way. The young mother keeps writing, the rejection letters keep arriving…

Alice is determined to justify her grandfather's faith in her. But will the arrival of stockman Jeremy, a good-looking larrikin with a bad boy reputation, throw her – and the path of Redstone Station – off track? Therese Creed grew up in Sydney, one of nine children. From an early age she loved horses and dreamed of one day living in the bush.

“ Foreign Soil is a collection of outstanding literary quality and promise. Clarke is a confident and highly skilled writer.”

“ If Robert Hoge reckons he belongs to the Ugly Club then ‘ugly’ must mean humour and courage, love and decency.” William McInnes

Hannah Kent, author of Burial Rites
