PARTNERSHIP & SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

welcome to allotment On the behalf of the Committee, I’d like to thank you for your interest in supporting West Allotment Celtic Football Club for our 2013/2014 season.

and a passionate, expanding and supportive community around the club. We also have a development team, West Allotment Celtic ‘A’, that will make its debut in 2013/14.

The club ended its eight-year spell without silverware at the end of last season, defeating Northallerton Town to lift the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup trophy. The cup victory capped a fantastic end of season resurgence, ultimately finishing in seventh place in Division Two of the Northern League.

We have always been renowned in nonleague circles as a well-run club, and continue to strive towards maintaining these standards. Last year, we won the Northern League’s Hospitality Award, in recognition of our generosity towards visiting teams and guests. We have a comprehensive and routinely updated website, produce a wellreceived matchday programme, and release a glossy club magazine, Three Miles West, on a bi-monthly basis.

On the field, we hope to push for promotion back to the First Division. Off the field, we are looking to buttress our footballing ambition by securing the financial future of the club. These aims can be achieved with the support of local businesses like yourselves, raising our respective profiles in the wider community. We would greatly appreciate any support that you feel you can offer the club. We completely understand that is more difficult than ever for small businesses, and are therefore committed to doing everything we can to promote the businesses that are generous enough to sponsor us. We are fortunate enough to have an extremely dedicated Committee, one of the best non-league grounds in the country which we share with Newcastle United Reserves, a rich and extensive history,

We have had our struggles in the past, and the future is far from secure, but with your help we have the makings of a successful football club that is the centre of the local community. Now really is a fantastic time to get involved with West Allotment Celtic, and we look forward to welcoming you onboard. The Committee

club history - in brief West Allotment Celtic were formed in 1928, the culmination of a merger between West Allotment Primitive Methodists and West Allotment Juniors. After moving to the newly-created Tynemouth & District League in 1935, the club began to grow in stature, ultimately joining the Second Division of the Northern Amateur League in 1938. World War II put a halt on progress, but Allotment’s success resumed thereafter, as they won the championship for four consecutive seasons between 1956 and 1960, along with the NFA Amateur Cup in 1957 and the NFA Minor Cup in 1958.

A number of players moved on in the sixties, and Allotment entered a period of decline as an unavoidable result. The club bounced back with a vengeance in the seventies, led by prolific forward Benny Williams. Allotment won the NFA Amateur Cup once more, and eventually won the coveted championship in 1982 in a nail-biting play-off, after a series of tantalising near misses in previous years. Celtic comfortably retained the title one year later. Allotment ascended into the Northern Alliance, and won the Challenge Cup one year after promotion. The club went from strength to strength, winning the first of eight Alliance titles in 1987, never finishing lower than sixth in the league. After dominating the Northern Alliance for over a decade, manager Terry Mitchell guided Allotment into the Northern League in 2003/04. To the surprise of many, Allotment swept to the Division Two title in their debut season, earning automatic promotion to Division One. Celtic enjoyed six fruitful years in the upper echelon, even finishing ninth on one occasion, but ultimately suffered relegation in 2011. Despite the setback, Allotment have begun the rebuilding process in style, winning the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup last May.
