Mini-Mayborn Express

December 1 - December 31, 2017. Join us as we welcome back the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders to the Mayborn and make this returning favorite part of your holiday traditions. Enjoy a special Christmas display, a small train track that you can operate yourself, and a large G-scale train layout that will include elaborate scenes of cities and towns, and depict both the past and present. The young and the young-at-heart will enjoy imagining the excitement of being a train engineer!

Homestead Heritage Fall Fair

From 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on November 24th – 25th at Homestead Heritage. We hope you can join us for our 30th annual fair! Help to milk a cow, lend a hand at the old-fashioned timber frame barn raising and watch a master craftsman fashion a fine Windsor chair straight from a rough log! Afterwards, sample one of the multicultural dishes from the food court or maybe lick a delicious maple pecan ice-cream cone while touring our farm on a horse-drawn hay wagon. “Santa’s Magic Bells” Puppet Show

December 19, 20, 21 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Enjoy a special holiday puppet show with Santa and his hyper elf, Ringle Dingle at the Mayborn Museum Complex, presented by Ware House Puppets. Delight in Ringle’s escapades as he is chased by a cast of characters and searches for Santa’s missing magic bells. Following the puppet show, holiday-themed handson activities will be available throughout the museum.

Women in STEM Now – March 25, 2018

Find a Way, Not an Excuse: Women in STEM presents the lives of 19 women and their contributions to the science, technology, engineering, and math fields, including five from Baylor University. From the clothes we wear to the phones we use, and from the food we eat to the health of our bodies, our quality of life has been improved by female pioneers in STEM. Women have contributed in STEM fields for generations, often without credit. The exhibit focuses on pioneering innovations in STEM with the hope of inspiring a fierce desire to learn continuously and encourage curiosity to lead to discovery.

Mysteries of the Unseen World

Now showing at the Mayborn Museum with selected screenings available through December 22nd. Experience events that unfold too slowly for human perception; “see” the beauty, drama, and even humor of phenomena that occur in the flash of a microsecond; enter a microscopic world once reserved for scientists, but now made accessible to the rest of us; and begin to understand that what we actually see is only a fraction of what there is to see on Earth. Scheduled Screenings: Saturdays - 11 am, 1 pm, & 3 pm; Sundays - 2 pm & 4 pm; Monday through Friday – 11 am. Additional showings may be available upon request. Show times are subject to change. Christmas at the Mayborn

November 30, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join staff and friends of the Mayborn Museum Complex for special Christmas themed events and activities including a visit from Santa and a special model train display from the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders. Visitors can participate in a nativity themed photo-op, make their own holiday decorations, and much more! Experience a special snow spectacular Spark Lab at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Activities and events are included in the price of admission. Admission is free to museum members and Baylor University students.

The 2nd Tuesday of each month, Salty Dog Sports Bar and Grill will donate 10% of ALL FOOD purchases to Fuzzy Friends Rescue! So dine in, take out or just grab a snack & help give back to the dogs & cats at Fuzzy Friends Rescue!

First Responder Half Marathon

From 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Downtown Waco Join us Thanksgiving weekend to celebrate, honor and remember our First Responders from all across the country. A flat course of 13.1 miles, starting and ending in downtown Waco, will include running through fire stations and historic Central Texas with police, fire and EMS units surrounding us, supporting us, and reminding us of why we run. We have also added a 5K and a two-person relay so there is a distance for all your First Responder Supporters.
