Many thanks for supporting us, it is has been greatly appreciated and we hope you can continue to help. Kind donations like yours mean that many people have been helped. We thought we would give you six stories that we think encapsulate the essence of Given Freely Freely Given. Names of people from the Bible have been used instead of real names to give anonymity Adam was drunk the first time we met him - in fact Adam was always drunk. Gradually as we got to know him and helped him with prayer, love, compassion, food bags, clothes and toiletries he started to look better but he was due in court and he knew he would be going to jail. We visited Adam while he was in jail. However Adam was determined to use his time in jail to come off the drink. Adam succeeded and is now out and is not drunk anymore. We met Seth in the Churchyard - his leg had been broken with a hammer as punishment for being a witness in court. Even after the leg had been set he was in a lot of pain. He found alcohol helped relieve the pain. The Community Friendship Group gradually gained Seth’s trust and eventually he start to come inside church. Seth has found compassion and received prayer and food bags and toiletries and clothes. His leg has not fully healed and he has been into rehabilitation but he can walk well with a crutch and feels a lot better.

Jacob arrived one Tuesday morning from prison, he was ravenously hungry and had clearly not eaten, we fed him and have continued to help him with food bags, prayer, toiletries, clothes. Jacob has severe mental health issues which means he needs a lot of support. He was recently moved to Rotherham, lost his support network and was sectioned over Christmas. Jacob’s story emphasises the need for support for people like him. Not only to point them to different agencies when they arrive in an area but also provide love and compassion. Moses arrived from a rehabilitation Center, he was “clean” for the first time in many years but he struggled adapting to life in a bed sit and also could not get his benefits sorted out. Moses had lots of anxiety and panic issues and they usually made him late for appointments or he would forget. We helped Moses with food bags, prayer, toiletries and clothes - lots of clothes and also getting to appointments for medical assessments and therapy. Moses is now doing well and is still “clean”

Rebekah came out of prison and was desperate for help. She has received food bags, prayer, clothing and toiletries and no longer takes illegal drugs - she is better physically and mentally and while she is on methadone it is gradually being reduced. She has been transferred to universal credit and has coped with the difficulties involved. We found Leah in the churchyard surrounded by gas canisters and barely conscious. She was a prostitute with mental health issues living voluntarily at one of the units on High road in Balby. Gradually as we got to know her and help her with prayer, love, compassion, food bags, clothes and toiletries she started to look better and the local agencies helped with Leah’s mental health - she has become a different person. Recently she brought US a food donation.
