A New Service in the Funding Sector

Philanthropy New Zealand | Tōpūtanga Tuku Aroha o Aotearoa is developing a new service to help both those seeking and distributing philanthropic funding in Aotearoa New Zealand. The vision of Match | Te Puna Taurite is a more equitable, accessible and collaborative funding system. It aims to more easily connect those with funds to those that seek them.

What is Match | Te Puna Taurite?

Fundseekers: • Post funding requests to get in front of multiple funders with one action. • Key groups Match | Te Puna Taurite seeks to help are small charities and those supporting Māori, Pasifika, rainbow, refugee and new migrant and disabled communities. • Will have a stronger voice into the funding system to support ongoing positive change. Funders: • Can choose to be alerted to new funding opportunities, for example if funders have an interest in a particular type of work or activity in a location they will be alerted. • Connect with each other on the platform, creating new opportunities for collaboration and co-funding possibilities. • Search to find a charity/ies delivering the service you want to support.

Match | Te Puna Taurite (MTPT) will be a helpful tool after an emergency, when both global and local funders are looking at who they can donate to, to help with the response. Those charities responding to urgent community needs during an emergency have no time for funding proposals, and MTPT will significantly reduce this current burden. Through MTPT, funders could quickly identify community groups who need additional financial support. There will be a subscription to participate. However for tier 4 organisations, (under $140,000 pa expenditure) membership is free. Match | Te Puna Taurite will launch on Monday 28 March 2022.
