I had my husband’s 60th birthday party here. Their wine room is beautiful, the food is delicious and the service is second to none. The wait staff was very attentive to not only the birthday boy but to everyone else. Corey, our event planner was so easy to work with and did not oversell us on anything. We had the perfect amount of food (butler service and appetizer trays) and everyone loved the menu that we set. I can say enough good things about Charlie’s of Lincroft. Seeking out sustainable goods supports companies that are committed to recycling, energy efficiency, reducing pollution and product biodegradability. According to a recent Simon-Kucher study of 10,000 people across 17 countries, a full third of consumers are willing to pay a premium for sustainable products. As might
be expected, younger generations lead the way. And globally, U.S. consumers are most supportive of all things sustainable. While it’s taken several years to get the message across, apparel and fabric brands continue to make huge investments in going green, with a goal to create a circular economy where we put back as much as we take out. CURLING Ardsley, New York You’ve seen Olympians play this Scotland-born sport, where participants use brooms to guide a stone across ice toward a target, and now you can join the fun (and competition). East Coasters can head up to the 91-year-old Ardsley Curling Club in Westchester, New York, which holds lessons for all skills, organizes leagues and competitions—and sells sleek gear. For the jet-setter: You may not associate the Bay Area with winter, but check out the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club, which offers lessons, leagues and special events.

Most of us aren’t training for Alaska’s famous Iditarod, but imagine the thrill of riding a husky-pulled sled. Don’t, of course, expect your pets to do this— instead head over to Arctic Paws Dog Sled Tours in Shawnee, Pennsylvania. Adults and children can enjoy rides with trained huskies in this Poconos area center. For the jet-setter: Bigger thrills await in the Great Lakes region. White Wilderness Sled Dog Adventures in Ely, Minnesota, gives riders an upclose-and-personal look at Superior National Forest (as well as the playful sled dogs).
There’s plenty to catch off the Jersey Shore, but there’s nothing like the thrill of pulling a musky through 6 inches of solid ice. Head north and set up a fishing shelter (or sit out in the elements) when the northern third of Lake Champlain in Vermont freezes and reel in landlocked salmon, trout, walleye and more. Whether you’re taking your first leap or perfecting your form, the New York Ski Educational Foundation offers yearround sessions at Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex. For the jet-setter: If you’d rather soar through the crisp Midwest air, try the ramps at the Norge Ski Club in Fox River Grove, Illinois. They’ve been teaching the sport to all levels and developing Olympic jumpers since 1905.

6 Tbs. butter
2 cups sugar
¼ cup chopped scallions
1 cup flour
½ cup chopped celery
4 eggs beaten
¼ cup chopped parsley
