Ihor Sawczuk, MD PRESIDENT, HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY HEALTH NETWORK Ihor S. Sawczuk, M.D., transitioned from his role as executive vice president and chief medical officer to become the new president of Hackensack University Medical Center, effective April 1, 2016. A known subject leader, esteemed physician, and sought-after educator, Dr. Sawczuk has held various roles at the medical center, including executive vice president, chief medical officer and chairman of the Department of Urology. He received the first academic appointment as professor of Surgery at the upcoming school of medicine with Seton Hall University. Dr. Sawczuk began his time with HackensackUMC in 2001 as chairman of the Department of Urology. Since then, he has helped guide the medical center on a path of clinical, research and academic excellence. His emphasis on cutting-edge technology has elevated the Department of Urology to become one of the leading programs in the country. During his tenure as chief academic officer, his commitment to academic advancement was evident in: his leadership role in the creation of our upcoming school of medicine with Seton Hall University, and the oversight of HackensackUMC’s affiliation agreements with Georgetown University School of Medicine and Stevens Institute of Technology. Dr. Sawczuk has been frequently and continuously listed as a top doctor in national and local publications – reflecting his positive professional reputation among colleagues and patients alike. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades from prestigious academic and medical associations. He was the recipient of the prestigious Russell W. Lavengood Distinguished Service Award from the New York Section of the American Urological Association.

Dr. Sawczuk was also named a Ferdinand C. Valentine Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine, a Burroughs Wellcome Scholar of the American Urological Association and an E.R. Squibb and Sons National Kidney Foundation Young Investigator. The New York Academy of Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Heart Association, Society of Basic Urologic Research, National Kidney Foundation, and the Kidney Cancer Association have recognized Dr. Sawczuk’s work. He was presented the prestigious Russell and Mary Hugh Scott Education Award by the American Foundation of Urologic Disease, and in 1996, the office of the First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton recognized him for his humanitarian efforts in regards to his Chernobyl relief work. Dr. Sawczuk completed his urologic training at the Squier Urological Clinic at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and his urologic oncology training as a fellow of the National Cancer Institute in the Departments of Urology and Human Genetics of Columbia University. He attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University. As an avid clinician, researcher and executive leader, Dr. Sawczuk is committed to collaboration on a local, national and international platform. He belongs to numerous urological associations, and has authored/co-authored more than 250 abstracts, articles and chapters. His research and publications are referenced throughout the country.

Dr. Peter Mercer PRESIDENT, RAMAPO COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY Dr. Peter Philip Mercer became Ramapo College’s fourth president on July 1, 2005. He previously served as dean of the law school and then as vice president (administration) and general counsel at the University of Western Ontario, where he was a professor of law. A former visiting research scholar at the University of Michigan, he also has been a faculty member at the University of Calgary, the University of Detroit and the University of Windsor. He has authored, co-authored and edited two books, numerous articles, book chapters and reviews. His recent publications have focused on the legal profession and professional standards as well as the unique features of higher education administration. He earned his L.L.M. and Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, and a J.D. from the University of Western Ontario. For sixteen years, he also has served as principal instructor in the Senior University Administrators Course held at the Banff Center, Banff Alberta each June and he is a member of the faculty of the Harvard University Seminar for New Presidents held every July. Dr. Mercer is vice chair of the New Jersey Association of Colleges and Universities and he also is immediate past chair of the New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities Presidents Council. He presently co-chairs the Transfer Committee of the New Jersey Presidents’ Council. In addition to the higher education sector, Dr. Mercer’s service also includes membership on the Board of Directors of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey and the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce. He has in the past also held a number of leadership positions with the Children’s Hospital of the Western Ontario Foundation, including two terms as chair.

During Dr. Mercer’s tenure at Ramapo, the College has been increasingly regarded as a great value and a superior institution. Ramapo College has been ranked by US News and World Report as among the “Best Regional Universities in the North,” and by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine as one of the “100 Best Values in Public Colleges.” Ramapo is also ranked 13th in the category “Best Bang for the Buck Colleges in the Northeast” of the 2015 Washington Monthly college guide and rankings. The 2015 Niche Rankings for Best Dorms in New Jersey gives Ramapo a high ranking for its campus housing. Over the past several years, Dr. Mercer has led Ramapo College through an ambitious and transformative campus-wide building program that has resulted in the completion of the Anisfield School of Business, the Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center, the Overlook and Laurel residence halls, the Sharp Sustainability Education Center, the Salameno Spiritual Center and the Adler Center for Nursing Excellence. The College has recently completed renovation to its academic complex that houses state-of-the-art science and research laboratories and other instructional and social space, in addition to ongoing projects across campus. Dr. Mercer is married to Dr. Jacqueline Ehlert, a registered dietitian. His son, Ryan, lives and works in Toronto, and his daughter, Imogen, is a social worker and policy analyst with the Ontario government.

The vehicle will be showcased at WRAPSCON in Indianapolis, June 2 to 4; Ramapo Concours d’Elegance at Ramapo College, June 11; and the U.S. Military Academy’s Thayer Hotel, June 12. It also will compete in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo races at Watkins Glen International Raceway, June 29 to July 1. The design promotes awareness for Wish for Our Heroes, which provides financial assistance to military members on active duty and honors Cpl. Kevin Jones, who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 22, 2005.
