hen you think about your health, what do you worry about most? If you’re like most people, you fear cancer. Yet heart disease is the No. 1 killer of both men and women. “Heart disease is insidious,” says Oxana Ovakimyan, MD, a Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset cardiologist and a member of the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group. “It often doesn’t manifest itself until you experience a heart attack or stroke.” In the U.S., someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds.
