It might be an obvious statement, but what makes the 1972 Buick Riviera Boattail Coupe so distinctive is its rear end.

“When the model was first released, it was quite controversial given its length and width. People either fell in love with it or hated it, there was no in between!” says Kevan Dudson.

“My Dad liked it because of the boattail shape to the back end of the car. For myself, I like big American coupes with big block V8s and this one fitted the bill for me on that basis. Also, there are not a lot of Buicks like this around so it was something different to have. “The other thing with the car is that we liked the fact that we know the full history on it from when it was originally brought into New Zealand by an American Airforce pilot posted here.” Kevan and wife Kala have had the car since 1997. “I’ve had heaps of fun in my old Buick and been to lots of things in it. The best times are when family or friends are traveling with you and enjoying all the ups and downs that go with owning an old car!”
