Wairarapa Times-Age proudly celebrating sporting excellence in our community

The Wairarapa Times-Age is thrilled to be celebrating the achievements of our top Wairarapa Sports people. Organised by the Wairarapa Times-Age, the awards celebrate the achievements and dedication of Wairarapa’s sporting community. Wairarapa has an incredibly rich sporting history for a small region, and recent achievements deserve their day in the sun just as much as their predecessors. This year’s awards recognise achievements from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. There are 15 categories covering o cials, teams, schools, volunteers and administrators. Finalists of the 15 award categories are determined by the nominations received by members of public. The judges narrow down the nominations to select nalists for each category. A combination of the public vote and judges vote determines the category winners. An independent judging panel of three judges were appointed. Each judge’s vote is a quarter of the total vote and the public vote counted towards a quarter. The winners of all 15 categories will automatically become nalists for the Supreme Award. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises the lifetime achievements of anyone involved in Wairarapa Sports. A relatively new award category is the People’s Choice Award where Wairarapa residents have their direct say as to what nalist they believe should be recognised for their contribution to local sport. The Awards would not be possible without the support from our sponsors, we value and thank you for your commitment to this event.
