Patterson and the Masterton District Council for their ongoing major support, and also to previous Mayors and Councils also.

Nothing this size can happen without sponsorship, big and small! Our current main sponsors are Bayleys, PGG Wrightson, Lister, Trust House and Shear Expertise.

Sadly we have lost a very dear friend, Koro Mullins. Koro was known throughout the shearing world as a competitive shearer in his younger days, and a commentator around many shearing shows, including Golden Shears. Of late he led the Live Streaming team where his knowledge, expertise and perfection took live streaming to very high levels. Koro will be sadly missed by his wife Mavis and family, friends and

This year we have honoured Trust House in recognition of their support to us over the years by creating the Trust House Open Wednesday with no entry charges. A big thank you to Mayor Lyn

his Golden Shears family. Once again we hope you all enjoy your stay in Masterton and go away with very fond memories of the Golden Shears 60th birthday. Sam Saunders, President

Mayor’s Message I’m delighted to welcome you to the 2020 Golden Shears, the 60th Anniversary of the world’s premier shearing and woolhandling competition. Masterton is proud to be the host of this international event. The Golden Shears is one of the most important events in our district’s packed events calendar, attracting hundreds of visitors every year and giving our local economy a tremendous boost. The introduction of live streaming the event across the globe has helped to further cement Masterton’s association with shearing.

One of the real strengths of Golden Shears is the fact it is run by a large and dynamic team of volunteers. The superb team of organisers, judges, referees, stewards, commentators, timekeepers and others contribute as much as any competitor in making this the wonderful event it has become. I would especially like to welcome all visitors to Masterton, especially those who are here for the first time; we hope you find our district as beautiful, unique and relaxing as we do.

I look forward to seeing you in action. Enjoy the week!

Good luck to all the competitors and
