Total housing stock is up year-on-year by 70.8% nationally, and for the first time in many years, Auckland and Wellington are both buyers' markets. Average asking prices in these two main centres have also largely been on a downward trajectory since February 2022. For buyers, this likely means less urgency, less competition and more time for due diligence when purchasing property. Demand for property remains high, but the heat has come out of the market.
