Exceptional Extra-Curriculars
Opportunities are key for personal development and some more valuable than others. Our Sixth Form is jam packed with a diverse range of extra-curricular activities and sports teams (netball, hockey, volleyball and tennis) empowering students and facilitating their personal growth and lifelong friendships.
We also provide plenty of leadership opportunities. In our Sixth Form, students take on varied vital roles - from running our school clubs, managing voluntary work, completing the Duke of Edinburgh awards, becoming trained peer mentors for younger students, helping lead our school as part of our prestigious Head Girl Prefect Team to having a national, as well as school, voice in our nationally recognised Student Union.
Liberal Arts and EDGE Programmes
Sixth Form students enjoy access to two enrichment programmes at Wakefield Girls' - EDGE and our exciting new Liberal Arts programme.
Both programmes run every Thursday afternoon, bespoke and specific for sixth formers, when no other lessons are timetabled.
EDGE offers a diverse range of 95 activities to students.
Our Liberal Arts programme offers a carousel of termly choices, annual electives, service and outreach, summer scholarship and leadership.
Both programmes enhance student experience and curriculum through challenging alternatives to academic study, broadening horizons and further developing independent thinking, resilience, creativity, teamwork, leadership, social and creative skills. This is a valuable addition to our sixth form experience, helping students to develop the confidence and independence to thrive at university and into future life. While non-examined, course options can result in a qualification or in-house award.
