with Michael D’Aleo, MEd, Director, Saratoga Experiential Natural Science Research Institute (www.sensri.org) Lecture: Friday, February 8, 7-9 pm Workshop: Saturday, February 9, 9:30 am-12:30 pm As continual change becomes the norm in our lives, the best solution may be found not simply in new thoughts but in new ways of thinking. The phenomena-based approach to science offers insights into learning how to think differently about ourselves and the world in which we live. This observation-based discipline is the foundation for the study of science in Waldorf curriculum. A phenomenological approach to science advances accurate observation, critical thinking, and skills to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in this quickly-changing world. The workshop will give participants the opportunity to experience the phenomenological approach. Michael has taught and trained teachers of physics for many years at the high school and graduate level. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for seven years in the electronics industry. Michael lectures internationally on science, education and environmental issues. He is author of two books, Sensible Physics Teaching and most recently, Embracing Materialism and Letting It Go—An Experiential Guide to Overcoming an Object Based World Conception.
