Age-Friendly Walking in the South End: kick-off meeting Wednesday, June 8, 10:15-11:45 a.m. at United South End Settlements (566 Columbus Ave) Age-Friendly Walking is a project of WalkBoston, the Boston Elderly Commission, and other city agencies to support safe walking for seniors in the City of Boston. The Mass Ave corridor in the South End (between Huntington Ave and Boston Medical Center) is an initial focus area for this effort. From 2016-2018, Age-Friendly Walking project partners will work with seniors and local organizations in the South End to identify key issues and concerns, and to implement street and sidewalk improvements that create safe and comfortable walking conditions for seniors. The lessons learned will be used to create guidelines for a long-term citywide approach to senior walking. A safe walking environment for seniors means a safe walking environment for everyone!
