David Pendleton is a business psychologist. He is an Associate Fellow of the Saïd Business School at Oxford and teaches regularly at Oxford University and Harvard Business School. He is also Visiting Professor at the Walker School of Business & Technology at Webster University and is Executive Chairman of the Edgecumbe Consulting Group in the UK. As well as co-directing the program, he will provide on the course a new model of leadership for the 21st century based on his book ‘Leadership: all you need to know’ published in 2012. He will also provide insights on participants’ leadership contributions based on personality and 360 degree feedback.
Benjamin Ola. Akande is Professor of Economics and Dean of the Walker School of Business & Technology at Webster University. He has served on brand name publicly traded and private boards in St. Louis and is internationally renowned as a teacher, leadership scholar and practitioner. In addition to co-directing the program, he will lead a session considering the purpose of each of our organizations and its potential to give meaning to every action taken by the organization and to motivate its people.

uperior performance The faculty The program faculty are themselves leading thinkers and practitioners who each have decades of experience in helping top executives raise their games. The program will be directed by Dr. David Pendleton and Dr. Benjamin Akande and will bring together a world-class team of development specialists and leadership exponents. In addition to the teaching faculty, the program will be addressed by senior leaders from all sectors in the St. Louis area. These will include CEOs from the for-profit corporate sector, the not-for-profit healthcare sector and from senior levels of public service organizations. The lessons of the program will thus be illustrated by current examples of leadership in action at the highest levels.

Jennifer King is an occupational psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the Saïd Business School at Oxford University and a founding director of the Edgecumbe Consulting Group in the UK. She has unique experience in developing highly effective teams and in troubleshooting professional teams that are dysfunctional. During the program, she will teach about effective teamwork and also provide insights into how and why teams malfunction. She will consider how to ensure teams remain effective and how to deal with dysfunction through challenging conversations.
Richard Olivier is Artistic Director and founder of Olivier Mythodrama™. He works internationally as a leadership development consultant, keynote conference speaker and workshop leader. He was a guest speaker at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2003 & 2009 and collaborates with many other global organizations. He has worked extensively in the fields of organizational and Personal Development and his work today is at the leading edge of bringing the world of theatre into the development of authentic leaders. He was awarded Thought Leader 2013 by the Best Practice Institute and is an Associate Fellow of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Learning through feedback In addition to formal teaching sessions run in an interactive and engaging way, the program will provide insights from feedback. Specifically, participants will complete a NEO personality questionnaire before the program begins on the basis of which feedback will be provided about those helping and hindering characteristics that contribute to effectiveness as a leader. Participants will also complete a 360 degree feedback process based on the leadership model the course will introduce. These feedback tools represent the state of the art in leadership development and provide a rounded view of a leader’s capabilities and potential allowing clear development implications to be drawn.
Who should attend the program? The program is intended for senior and experienced executives, irrespective of the sector or type of organization in which they work. The aim is for senior leaders to be able to discuss the critical issues raised on the course in a confidential and safe environment and to learn not only from the faculty but from one another. For this reason, applicants need to be familiar with the view from the C Suite and personally involved in leading their organizations. The fact that we do not specify the sector or type of organization is because we believe that leadership is mainly to do with the impact on people and their impact on the organization and its customers or users.
Accordingly, we will aim for a mix of leaders in St. Louis from the public and private sectors; from for-profit and not-for-profit; from NGOs; and from organizations in the third sector (charitable organizations).
Program Location The program will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, at the East Academic Building of Webster University: the home of the Walker School of Business & Technology and accommodation will be at a local 5 star hotel, commensurate with the cost-conscious expectations of our participants. The program will cost $8,000 for individuals and $7,500 each for 4 participants from the same company. This includes accommodations, all tuition, materials, books provided on the program, psychometric questionnaires, interpretive reports and 360 degree feedback based on the Primary Colors Model of Leadership.
