OCEAN WEST No conference comes close to the OWC when it comes to putting teams in the National Championship game. The Ocean West has still seemed like a one trick pony though since Hawai'i Tech won their first conference championship and National Championship game. The other programs are just as capable of providing huge games in and out of conference The Los Angeles Cavalry have been the staunchest opponents to Tech, even squeezing past the Spartans in 2008 for the conference crow Central Arizona has upgraded their facilities and are just as capable and dangerous as their namesake Scorpions. UC Long Beach will look to make a move with some sleeper recruits like QB Teddy Bridgewater and Mike Bellamy. Redmond always waits in the wings, maybe this season they can grab the brass ring. Rocky Mountain State looks to QB Austin Davis to lead their team this season but the defense may have to be the Gold standard in Denver .

The SMC has a tough leader in Lansing State. There. We said it. Now they have to learn how to finish. The Predators have routinely started strong, only to falter in the last few weeks, costing themselves opportunities to go to the big game. Denard Robinson and LaMichael James are a one two punch no defense wants any day of the week, let alone in a title bout. Now Saint Mary’s, Bayou State, and Soutgern Iowa must prove tgey’ve made tge improvements to move past the perennial champions and make the trip to Houston. West Texas looks to break in to the discussion as well even after a disappointing start to their program. Southern Iowa will look to pick up where the University of Puget Sound left off after they merged all of the players but none of tge Emeralds gistory. Saint Mary’s will look to become a larger part of the national discussion.

EAST COAST ATHLETIC

The ECAC race opened a little wider after the defending champs were moved to the new BigNE. Tgat doesn’t mean tgat tge ECAC got any easier. Sunset Beach got the break of a season when Newark State moved but tgat’s only going to give Saint Ambrose and Continental more reason to think they're going to be involved in tge discussion at season’s end. Michael Dyer will look to keep the Kentucky Tech fans happy on the Blue Grasser’s gome turf wgile they fight to get over John Brantley, Robert Marve, and the Octopi. North State could be part of the discussion but with their current roster, they may need some teams to falter on their own and hope their Longhorn defense pays dividends. Early conference games will be a premium in the ECAC. The more room a team has going in, the better chance the ECAC could get three teams in bowls this season.

ALL CONFERENCE TEAM

The BigNE All-Conference Team was voted on by the participating Athletic Directors of the member schools. There were two unanimous first team selections, RB Trent Richardson and WR Robert Woods. The Western University team locked up seven spots on the All Conference team and the five selections by Ohio Western were a new team high.
