We thought 2020 was a tough year — and it was. Perhaps it was good preparation for 2021, a challenging 12 months that forced us to be ever courageous in the face of the continuing pandemic, new ways of working and socializing, natural disasters and economic uncertainty. But as always, we were resilient and adapted to the ebb and flow, ready to face whatever came our way.
Looking back on the year is always a good exercise to help us prepare for what’s ahead, a practice we at New Home + Condo Guide embrace with serious enthusiasm. If you haven’t been keeping track of how the housing industry has been faring, you’ll want to take a few moments to read the articles on page 24 (The Year That Was 2021 by Susan M. Boyce) and page 29 (2021 Roared with Activity, Screamed for Supply by Cameron McNeill). These insights into the past year will give you the broad strokes you need to be up-todate on how to plan for your new-home purchase in 2022.
Also in this issue, our mortgage specialist, Alisa AragonLloyd, explains mortgage and real estate fraud — and how to avoid it — and Susan M. Boyce spends 10 minutes with Michael Sikich discussing why homebuyers are flocking to Vancouver Island.
Since this is our last issue of 2021, we want to take the time to wish you and your loved ones peace, health and happiness during the holiday season and beyond. Don’t forget to pick up a copy of our January 8, 2022 issue, where you’ll read about what the experts are predicting for the New Year.
