COACHING STAFF A.J. DAUGHERTY, Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director (aj.daugherty@wallacestate.edu, 256.352.8355)
Coach A.J. Daugherty enters his fourth season as Wallace State’s softball coach. Daugherty has compiled a 136-43 record at Wallace State, guiding the Lions to two Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Championships and two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I National Championship appearances in his first three seasons. Daugherty, a native of Leroy, was named Wallace State’s softball coach in June 2016 after spending four seasons as the head coach at James Clemens High School in Madison, where he built the program from the school’s inception in 2012. There he led the Lady Jets to a top ranking in Class 7A in 2016 and a final four finish at the state tournament. Daugherty, 34, began his coaching career as a student assistant with the Shelton State softball program in 2005 and then transferred to the University of Alabama where he served on the Crimson Tide softball support staff for two seasons. He is a graduate of both Shelton State and Alabama. Upon graduating from Alabama, Daugherty’s initial head softball job was at Holy Spirit in Tuscaloosa in 2008. He led the Lady Titans to their first area and regional championships and lone state tournament appearance before moving on to coach at American Christian Academy. Daugherty and his wife, Allison, live in Priceville with their seven-year old son Connor, and one-year old daughter Caroline. CADI OLIVER, Assistant Coach (cadi.oliver@wallacestate.edu) Cadi Oliver enters her first season as Wallace State’s assistant coach. Oliver joins the Wallace State softball program after serving as the interim coach at Northwest Florida State College in 2019. She’s also spent one year respectively coaching at Bevill State and Jacksonville State. She served as a graduate assistant at Jacksonville State after playing collegiately for the Gamecocks. As a player, Oliver was part of four Ohio Valley Conference championships at Jacksonville State, making four NCAA Regional appearances. Oliver, a Sumiton native, helped lead Sumiton Christian to a state championship in high school. She was named the 2010 Class 3A AHSAA state tournament MVP.
