Based out of the YMCA KinderHouse, the Rascals, as they are better known as, will participate in traditional camp activities like swimming, arts & crafts and field games. Rascals will also learn the meaning of teamwork, independence and sharing under the watchful eyes of our caring staff. All-Stars is designed to give every camper a memorable and rewarding summer camp experience. Throughout the day, campers will participate in a variety of group activities, arts & crafts and “all camp activities. Campers swim every day except on Field Trip days. To add a different spin to each session, there will be a theme around which activities will be based. Groups are kept small to help foster relationships and memories that will last a lifetime.
ADVENTURTEENS
For campers entering grades 6-9
Summer Camp for teenagers! We know that once campers enter their teen years, their needs and desires in a camp experience change. AdventurTeens are provided with more independence, greater challenges, increased responsibility and outstanding staff to help guide them through the summer months. They are constantly on the move participating in group activities, weekly field trips, swimming and hiking at Bertini Park. The AdventurTeens also have full use of the Rotary/YMCA Teen Center, where they can play the Wii, ping pong or just chill out. The goal of the AdventurTeen program is to create an atmosphere where teens feel safe, valued and free to express themselves.

CAMP HEALTH FORM & MEDICATION Each camper must have a physical exam by a licensed physician within the past three years. No child may attend the program without an up-to-date immunization record on file with the Wallingford Family YMCA. Forms are available at the Welcome Center. If a camper requires any medication, the proper paperwork must be on file before the camper can attend camp. This medication will be kept locked with our First Aid Director. In the case of Epi Pens & other emergency medication, your child’s counselor will have these on hand at all times.
LUNCH & SNACKS Lunch and Snacks are to be packed in a brown paper bag labeled with your child’s name and will be kept in a cooler at the YMCA. No Heat-ups! Water bottles are encouraged to ensure that our campers stay hydrated.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What should my child bring to camp? Campers should bring a backpack packed with a brown bag lunch (no heat-ups!) with their name on it, a bathing suit and towel, sunscreen and a water bottle. ALL CAMPERS NEED TO WEAR SNEAKERS. Sandals, flip-flops, crocs, and open-toed shoes are prohibited for safety reasons. All items should be clearly labeled with the camper’s name. For younger campers who are prone to having bathroom accidents, packing extra clothes to leave in the camp office is an option. Please place these clothes in a bag and label it with your child’s name.
What should they not bring? We believe that certain items are best left at home to maximize your camper’s camp experience. Campers may not bring cell phones, MP3 players, iPods, portable electronic video games, trading cards, other toys from home, matches or knives. Cell phones are only allowed at camp upon the Camp Director’s approval. The Wallingford Family YMCA is not responsible for items that are lost or stolen.
Where do I drop-off/pick-up my child? Sign-In for all campers will be at the Doolittle Park pavilion. Your camper should be dropped off by 8:55AM. Pick-up for your camper is at 4:00PM at the same location. If you are dropping a child off after 9:15AM or picking them up before 3:45PM please go to the KinderHouse, located in back of the YMCA.
How can I contact my child/camp staff during the day? During the Summer, the Camp Ulbrich phone number is 203-284-5328. This number can be used to relay information to staff, ask questions or to get a message to your child. In the case of an emergency or before the camp season begins, you may also call the Welcome Center at 203-2694497.
What happens if my child loses something during the day? Lost and Found items accumulate very quickly. Please make every effort to label your child’s belongings. Have your camper look for their missing items at our Lost and Found located in a bin at the KinderHouse. Socks and underwear are immediately discarded. Everything else is held for two weeks and then donated to a local charity.
Can I request certain groups? We know that your child’s friends may be at camp, but one of Camp Ulbrich’s goals is for campers to meet and make new friends. Groups are by grade and groups of similar ages do tend to participate in activities together, so we are sure that your child will be able to see their friend throughout the course of the camp day.
We ask that NO ELECTRONICS be brought to camp!
