BEST SUMMER EVER SUMMER 2020

WALLINGFORD FAMILY YMCA

I'm counting down the days until we meet at Doolittle Park, sunshine overhead, ready to create some amazing summer memories. This will be my 15th summer at Camp Ulbrich and I'm ready for us to have the BEST SUMMER EVER! We're committed to providing our campers with a safe and fun environment where they can learn, grow and have fun. At the Y, we play, spend lots of time outside, swim and build character. I hope you will join us as we celebrate 75 great years of the Wallingford Family YMCA and 350 years of Wallingford with a summer to remember.

DID YOU KNOW? The Wallingford Family YMCA has been around for 75 years. Before Camp Ulbrich, there was Camp Adahi! Our day camp was located where Bertini Park is today. Just at Camp Ulbrich, campers had swim lessons, played games, and created memories that would last a lifetime. We bet you didn’t think the Nickel Carnival had been around since the 1950s!

SESSION 1

STARS & STRIPES FOREVER Commemorate 350 years of Wallingford and 75 years of our YMCA! We’ll be heading to the movies for our field trip to see Soul. Don’t forget to get decked out in red, white & blue for our traditional 3rd of July Celebration. We can’t wait to party in the USA with you!

JUNE 22-JULY 3

SESSION 2

WELCOME TO THE 80’S Prepare to step back in time as we explore the music and thrill of the 1980's. It's going to be so totally rad. Our younger campers will be visiting Kid City while the older campers go roller skating. Be ready for Campchella, our gnarly, neon, glow in the dance party. It's going to be righteous!

JULY 6-17

SESSION 3

JEDI ACADEMY Young Padawans looking to become Jedi Masters won't want to miss this session! We will train your skills with trips to Pump It Up for our Younglings and to SkyZone for our older Knights. We will have to work together to destroy the Dark Side. Prepare your lightsabers and may the force be with you.

JULY 20-31

SESSION 4

COLOR WARS 2020 Red. Blue. Yellow. Green. Purple. Pink. Which color will rise to the top?! Be prepared to dress up and own your color because everything we do will matter in the end. Splash-A-Palooza, check. Nickel Carnival, check. Big and small challenges, bring it on!

AUGUST 3-14

SESSION 5

WOULD YOU RATHER... Session 5 will be full of tough choices! Our oldest campers will get a chance to show off their bowling skills, while the youngest get to visit the orchard. Campers and counselors will have the chance to make some difficult decisions that can result in some fun for all.

If a camper requires any medication, the proper paperwork MUST be on file before the camper can attend camp. This medication will be kept locked with our First Aid Director. In the case of Epi Pens & other emergency medication, your child’s counselor will have these on hand at all times.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do I have to be a member to come to camp? A YMCA membership is not required to participate in any of our summer day camp programs. Everyone is welcome. What should my child bring to camp? Campers should bring a backpack packed with a brown bag lunch (no heat-ups!) with their name on it, a bathing suit and towel, sunscreen and a water bottle. Campers are required to wear the YMCA camp t-shirt on all field trips. Each camper will receive a t-shirt during their first session. ALL CAMPERS NEED TO WEAR SNEAKERS. Sandals, flip-flops, crocs, and open-toed shoes are prohibited for safety reasons. All items should be clearly labeled with the camper’s name. For younger campers who are prone to having bathroom accidents, packing extra clothes to leave in the camp office is an option. Please place these clothes in a bag and label it with your child’s name. What should they not bring? We believe that certain items are best left at home to maximize your camper’s camp experience. Campers may not bring cell phones, MP3 players, iPods, portable electronic video games, trading cards, other toys from home, matches or knives. Cell phones are only allowed at camp upon the Camp Director’s approval. The Wallingford Family YMCA is not responsible for items that are lost or stolen. Where do I drop-off/pick-up my child? Sign-In for all campers will be at the Doolittle Park pavilion. Your camper should be dropped off by 8:55AM. Pick-up for your camper is at 4:00PM at the same location. If you are dropping a child off after 9:15AM or picking them up before 3:45PM please go to the KinderHouse, located in back of the YMCA.

Can I request certain groups? We know that your child’s friends may be at camp, but one of Camp Ulbrich’s goals is for campers to meet and make new friends. Groups are by grade and groups of similar ages do tend to participate in activities together, so we are sure that your child will be able to see their friend throughout the course of the camp day. Have more questions? Contact Rob Newton, Youth & Camp Coordinator, at rnewton@wallingfordymca.org or 203-269-4497 x124.

NO ELECTRONICS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO CAMP
