ECOLOGICAL TOUR IN THE VENICE LAGOON: VENETIAN ROWING + ELECTRIC MOTOR BOAT
After the great success of the Venetian rowing lessons, the Cultural & Sport Association “L'altra Venezia presents a new activity: rowing + electric motor in the lagoon of Venice. A new, environmentally friendly and sustainable way (a real experiential tourism) to experience the lagoon while respecting its tradition for excellence (row-boats) and its fragile eco-system. The activity is structured in two parts: the first one by row (with the ancient technique of Venetian rowing), the second one with the aid of a small electric motor, therefore nonpolluting, to reach an natural area of pristine beauty. However, the objective is not just having fun, learning and enjoying the beauty of the lagoon of Venice, but also to sensitize the visitor towards an ancient and unique tradition, respecting the environment and the Venetian culture.
We start from the Certosa island, where we get on a typical Venetian boat (sanpierota), on which you learn the rudiments of the art of Venetian rowing. Go along the canal between the islands of Certosa and Vignole, surrounded by the green of the lush vegetation characterizing the two islands. We will then arrive in the open lagoon where we switch to using the electric motor, whereby, following the famous bricole (poles stuck on the lagoon) dotting the lagoon, we head towards the island of St. Erasmo. From there we reach the area of the barene (flat islands), surrounded by the most typical nature, where among others you can see egrets and cormorants.
Then we continue to row, in order to enjoy, in the slowness and silence, a really special view. If you like we can drop anchor and stop to enjoy some appetizer on board. Finally, we go back, towards the Certosa harbor, where you can stop at the bar or dine at the local excellent restaurant. From there you can take a vaporetto to return to Venice.
A unique way to get a taste of authentic Venetian life! "The lagoon and the rowing are the same thing for me" (Giuseppe Bignone “Ciaci) "In any rowing, thousand years of history ..." (Venetian adage) "As long as at least one of us continues to rowing, the real Venice will not die" The tour lasts about three hours and can be done for a maximum of 3 people at a time. It doesn't deal with a particularly binding physical activity, therefore it is accessible to whoever: men, women and children (+ 12 years old)
