profile I graduated with a master’s degree in Building Engineering - Architecture from the University of Catania. My thesis topic “Architecture and Music” explored a method to convert architectural facades into musical scores and melodies. My last work experience at SHARE Architects in Wien, allowed me to perform a wide variety of tasks - presentation drawings and visualization, building physical models, detailing and construction drawings - related to the various project phases, from the initial design proposals throughout the development phases to planning applications. My great passion and attitude for architectural visualization brings me to develop skills in 3D modeling, rendering, graphics and photography.

Kaira Looro Architecture Competition Peace Pavilion
The strategic position of the intervention as a balcony facing the river, a meeting point with many markets and the stunning beauty of the landscape, induced us to conceive an architecture that would gently frame and enhance this awesome scenery without creating barriers and limits between the city and the Casamance River, the public and private space, the interior and the exterior. The result is a diaphanous and simple volume, covered by an irregular roof and screened by a double system of vertical wooden elements dilating and compressing in relation to the internal distribution and the landscape. It’s a suitable space to prolong the sight towards the river, up to its opposite shore, and to rest, shielded from the sun. A flexible and fluid distribution generates a path intertwining information, knowledge and experience along the expositive area, the awareness-raising meeting room and ultimately the contemplation space.

SEASON
The collection of water during the rain season is organized through a simple system of intertwined containers: the body of water, the collection canal developing along the eastern side and the basin inside the contemplation space. Water flows through a filtration system and ends up stored in a pit to be used during the dry season. The change of season determines a different use of the body of water, from being a collection basin to a space to relax or play.

The idea of a new Grosvenor square includes both the glorious past and future aspirations. Maintaining the oval shape is an affirmation of continuity on a permanent feature during its history. At the same time, we believe it should be reinterpreted in a modern dynamic figure. We decided to rotate it, according to the historical axis of The Mall and to translate two halves of the ellipse along the First Meridian. The western section of the ellipse becomes an open theater, dug into the ground; the eastern half is a water pond that cover the roof of an underground museum in the square. An inclined waterfall, which disappears into a long hole in the pavement, visually connects the upper water level to the lower level of the theater stage. The folding edge is raised to become a 3D panoramic screen that will digitally connect the square with various London events: people can enjoy Changing the Gard, cheer their Wimbledon favourite, watch a musical concert, etc. One of the main commitment of this project is to improve the green character of the square. More nature means adding new levels to the walkways closer to the crown of the tree. These paths will be linked to a new form of retail developed along the built perimeter. People will move between trees and shops, indoor and outdoor spaces, observing the natural environment from a totally new point of view.

“Impressioni di Settembre” - PFM
musical facade
Given the total disharmony of the project context that can be considered, in a musical meaning, totally “out of tune” to the potential offered by the place, the volume is generated starting from the square shape. It symbolizes the musical unison, the most perfect among all the consonances. The project aims to give a complete musicality to the architectural work, which is not only limited to the composition of the building facade. This approach, in fact, could be considered “two-dimensional” .
The musical imprint of the project is declined in relation to the true essence of architecture, space and the three dimensions. The design approach makes the entire context in which the building is placed musical, as ...., as the song “Impressioni di Settembre” is connected with the entire prog rock. The organization of public space is similar to the formal structure of the musical genre.

POST EXPO 2020 Dubai, United Arab Emirates The project site for Dubai 2020 will show the innovation and the authentic portrait of the culture and architecture of the United Arab Emirates, capturing the imagination of millions of visitors. Designed as a meeting place for participants, innovators and politicians from around the world, the site will feature the theme of the Expo: “Connect the minds, create the future”. The pavilions, exhibitions, events and entertainment will come together to create an immersive experience on an exhibition
04 Lab. Architectural composition III area of two square kilometers. At the center of the site, as a connection point, there will be Plaza Al Wasl. This large area has been designed to invite people to connection and to promote networking activities. From this center three “souk” (market) areas will branch out, each of them based on the main sub-topics of the event: - Opportunity - Mobility - Sustainability
Opportunity “Unlocking new possibilities for people and communities to become successful collaborators for the future. Focus on the interconnection between people and businesses as a factor of social and economic development.“ The winning design for the “Opportunity” pavilion was presented by Big (Bjarke Ingels Group). Their design philosophy reflects the thought of contemporary urban life as an interchange of cultures, global economic trends and communication technologies.
University and research
Purposes
The post-EXPO redefinition includes the construction of a Technological and Scientific Park. The project area is used for universities and research centers. It is divided into different departments, with educational activities and laboratories to create an integrated and connected building. The buildings include spaces for start-ups and hubs for research, hi-tech laboratories, etc.
- increase knowledge - spread knowledge - attract high-tech companies - innovative services - economic efficiency - quality of research (basic research, applied research, technology transfer) - increase international students - territorial scale operation

Project The complex, which includes the University and the IT research center, consists of two court buildings, which aims to maximize the relationship between inside and outside. This is achieved by emptying the ground floor. It is entirely permeable and it creates a continuum space. For an optimal natural lighting and to avoid internal overheating, the facades are entirely made up of vertical brise soleil, guaranteeing a visual relationship to the outside. All the buildings of the complex are connected through suspended walkways, which allow to create a continuity of flows between the volumes. The ground floor is used for commercial functions and services and it can be considered a continuous public space, as the driveway mobility is underground, while the first and second floor are used for classrooms, auditoriums, laboratories, offices, meeting rooms and restaurants.

GIOENI VISITOR’S CENTER Gioeni park, Catania
The park The Gioeni Park is located in the northern part of the city of Catania. It has an area of about 8 hectares and is built on a volcanic slope. It has a typical Mediterranean vegetation, with autochthonous species. Paths are made of lava stone. The park also presents historically remarkable portions of the ancient aqueduct of Benedictines. An intense traffic ring isolates the park from the city, making it less accessible and inviting.

PSC - PAVILION MODEL Sant’Agata Li Battiati (CT)
The project is the construction of a pavilion for events and parties. The pavilion is an extension of an existing house and it is a fully glazed compact volume, in constant visual relationship with the garden. The connecting element between the pavilion and the house is a space in front of the glazed volume that is marked by a wooden walkway on the ground and a pergola above. The entrance to this space is marked by electro-welded nets with climbing plants. In front of the pavilion there is a swimming pool with a corten steel walkway. A staircase in the garden allows access to the roof of the glazed volume. Another wooden walkway connects the roof of pavilion with a secondary courtyard behind the house. During the traineeship I made a physical model in 1:50 scale for the client’s proposal. Different colours and materials would characterise the model. White materials define the existing area; wood, copper, cardboard, straw, wire mesh represent the project elements.
