Llegamos a nuestra tercera edición y no fue fácil. Va
corriendo mucha agua en este arroyo y a medida que crece crecemos todos. En esta nueva entrega vas a tener algunos fotógrafos que publican por primera vez y otros que ya lo venían haciendo, también se renuevan algunos deportes y nos vistan algunos que nunca fueron publicados. La MAG viene a todo ritmo y eso se lo debemos a todos ustedes por seguir eligiéndonos, por disfrutar con nosotros del placer de la fotografía, sobre todo de la muy buena foto, esa en la que arriesgamos nuestros equipos y hasta nuestras vidas, pero en la medida justa de lo que indica nuestra conciencia. Hemos crecido en cantidad de páginas y en calidad de material, es un continuo avanzar, seguimos siendo la única magazine bilingüe de fotografía extrema de Latinoamérica y queremos seguir siéndolo, con cada visita a nuestras páginas alimentas nuestro deseo de seguir superándonos, de seguir haciendo arte, de seguir el camino de la excelencia y de poder llegar a ustedes y dejarles una marca en la retina de sus ojos. Nicolás Alarcos es un joven fotógrafo de la ciudad de Tandil, nacido el 22 de octubre de 1990. A los 17 años comienza haciendo fotografías de sus amigos que practicaban mountain bike en diferentes versiones o saltaban en skate. Fue ahí cuando descubrió su pasión por la fotografía. A los 18, emprendió un viaje por Europa que cambió su manera de ver las cosas y desde ese momento decidió dedicarse de lleno a la fotografía. De vuelta en la Argentina se muda a Buenos Aires y comienza a estudiar la carrera de Fotografía en la Universidad de Palermo, ahí fue cuando descubrió que para él, 4 horas cátedra por día en un aula no eran la mejor manera de estudiar esta carrera. Deja la universidad y toma cursos de iluminación con Ramiro Larraín, de publicidad y producto con Jonás Papier y de Retoque y Postproducción con Hernán Pésis. En el 2011 Comienza a estudiar Dirección de Arte, carrera que todavía cursa en La Escuela de Creativos. A mediados de ese año se vuelca casi por completo a la producción audiovisual, realizando vídeos para diferentes marcas de deportes, como Zenith y Shimano Latinoamerica

English Version: Nicolas Alarcos is a young photographer from Tandil City, he was born on October 22, 1990. At the age of 17 he began taking pictures of his friends who practiced in mountain bike or skateboard. That’s when he discovered his passion for photography. At the age of 18, he undertook a trip to Europe that changed his way of seeing things and from that moment he decided to devote himself to photography. Back in Argentina he moved to Buenos Aires and began to study the career of Photography at the Palermo University, there’s when he discovered that 4 class hours per day in a classroom were not the best way to study this career. Leave the university and take photography lighting courses with Ramiro Larrain, advertising and product with Papier Jonas and post production with Hernan Pesis. In 2011 began studying Art Direction career in the School of Creatives at Buenos Aires. A mid-year turns almost entirely to the audiovisual production, making videos for different sports brands such as Zenith and Shimano Latin America

En su Neuquén natal con sus pocos años de vida, la fotografía ya empezaba a asomarse en su vida. Ajena a los juegos convencionales de nenas, Pao entablaba el rol de fotógrafa mientras sus amigas modelaban por los pasillos disfrazadas. Con el paso del tiempo, su pasión se hacia cada día mas evidente, hasta que sus padres le regalaron una cámara a rollo. A los 15 años, un viaje a la montaña la llevó a unir las fotos con el deporte extremo, momento que bastó para tomar un estilo de vida y nunca más abandonarlo. De la nieve al viento, del viento al cemento, y del cemento al mar, Pao recorre los caminos en busca de adrenalina y haciendo de los paisajes su propio estudio, intentando captar el movimiento justo y donde las tablas son el principal elemento.

Hola amigos de shooters! Muchas gracias Walter por el espacio en el mag. Me llamo Julio Cesar Stadelman alias “TUKUTA” soy de Villa gesell, Argentina, Mi historia con la foto se mezcla con ese amor eterno por las motos, que empezó desde muy chico. En mi viaje de egresados de 7º grado saque el doble de fotos que mis compañeros, sin duda que esta pasión en esos momentos encendió su llama, después he dicho viaje comencé a asistir a las carreras zonales con mi pequeña camarita y en la compañía de mis viejos, me aguantaron mucho. Luego comencé a competir y ya no podía sacar fotos y correr, asique por unos años me dedique más a las carreras. Cuando termine la secundaria no me fui de viaje de fin de año, y concurrí con un grupo de amigos al Motocross de las Naciones en Brasil, sin pensar que esa carrera cambiaria mi vida para siempre. En mi mejor momento como piloto sufrí una lesión en la rodilla, la cual me llevo mucho tiempo de recuperación e hiso reencontrarme con la foto, y de una manera muy especial, ya que nunca más me separaría.

También se me abrieron las puertas a nivel artístico, comenzamos una revista a papel con unos amigos “ EL PANOPTICO” la sacamos durante 4 años y yo me encargaba exclusivamente de la parte de motos, diseño, texto y fotos, también hice radio y participaba en un programa de tv. A fines del 2007 me compre mi primera Réflex, y me hiso ver cómo era realmente el mundo de la foto. Al año siguiente nació MXZONE Y Gustavo Lossendiere, al cual le agradezco, me dio un espacio muy importante dentro de una web. Después vino la cobertura del mundial de motocross en Brasil en los años 2009, 10, 11, la cual me abrió puertas increíbles y me llevo a conocer muchas gente, estas ediciones mundialistas me hicieron vivir momentos muy importantes en mi vida. Hoy en día mi fotografía se perfila mayormente al motocross y off road, pero tengo una gran atracción por los deportes extremos (surf, body, skate,etc) paisajes, atardeceres y algo más, donde encuentro eso distinto, le saco fotos! Pude ver que estos últimos años fui encontrando un verdadero lugar dentro de la foto, y no por lo que las empresas me reconozcan, o por lo que te digan los demás , sino por la confianza que siento al estar atrás de una cámara y poder retratar momentos únicos, algunos dicen que lo mío es un hobbie, pero como me dijo un amigo, lo tuyo es amor, y tiene razón! porque me siento igual que hace 18 años, ahí al costado de la pista esperando un buen salto, una buena curva, para que se llene mi alma de alegría. Muchas gracias gente! Espero que le gusten las fotos y mi historia.

Hello friends of shooters! Thank you very much Walter for space in the mag. My name is Julio Cesar Stadelman alias “TUKUTA” I’m from Villa Gesell, Argentina, My story with the picture is mixed with that eternal love for motorcycles, which started from very young. In my graduation trip Grade 7 take twice as photos that my friends, no doubt that this passion at the time lit the flame, then I have this trip started attending racing zone with my tiny little camera and in the company of my old, I endured a lot. Then I started to compete and could not take pictures and run, so here a few years I dedicated myself more to the races. When finished high school I went on a trip the end of the year, and I attended with a group of friends at the Motocross of Nations in Brazil, without thinking that the race would change my life forever. In my best time as a pilot suffered a knee injury, which took me a long recovery time and did meet again with the photo, and a very special way, because I never separate. Hola ! Soy Miguel Campano de 20 años de edad y estudiante de informática. Llevo prácticamente toda mi vida ligado al mundo del Motocross,gracias a que mi hermano es piloto profesional he tenido la posibilidad de ir a campeonatos regionales,nacionales,europeos y mundiales ! Hace alrededor de 5 años,un amigo me dejo en una carrera su cámara reflex (una nikon d40) para que probara si que tal se me daba eso de la fotografía.. y la verdad que no me fue nada mal. Ese día se me despertó mi pasión por la fotografiá,comencé cubrir todos los eventos que podía (siempre que mi amigo me podía dejar su cámara claro!). Un año mas tarde decidí comprarme mi primera maquina,una magnifica canon 450D. Actualmente poseo una Canon 7D (una maquina casi perfecta) y trabajo como corresponsal de varias paginas webs y alguna revista. En mis ratos libres me encanta entrenar motocross y la edición de video !

English Version: Hello! I am Miguel Campano’s 20-year-old computer student. Se habla tanto de un “estilo de vida”. El rugby tiene el suyo, los Norteamericanos tienen el suyo, el “American way of living”, etc. Un suceso reciente me hizo convencer de que existen tales formas de vida o estilos. Creo definitivamente que nuestra Profesión tiene la suya, con sus pro y contras, ventajas y desventajas. Pasamos muchos fines de semana lejos de casa y afectos, a veces en hoteles de mala muerte, con frío o calor, llueve, truene o granice. Poniéndole el físico para lograr esa toma, ese momento y registrarlo. Ni que hablar del riesgo que estar en pista significa, recientemente una carrera se suspendió por la imprudencia de un ignorante. La ignorancia mata a veces. Adoramos nuestra Profesión, la de hacerle disfrutar de momentos únicos que disfrutamos nosotros. Y digo Profesión y no trabajo por una gran diferencia, la palabra trabajo tiene una connotación de sufrimiento extremo, una carga pesada como la de tener que tomar un subte, ir al centro, rutina diaria, ¡un jefe! Como yo disfruto lo que hago, esto nunca puede ser un trabajo, o sea, debe ser mi Profesión.

Dicha actividad supone un estilo de vida muy especial que casi nadie entiende, que uno abraza como suya. Como lo hizo un gran amigo, al que conocí poco pero lo suficiente como para valorarlo como persona. Tuve el honor de estar en un momento muy especial de su vida, su casamiento, registrándolo, y ya me dio muestras sobradas de gran tipo con un convencimiento de que lo que hacía era para toda la vida. Disfrutaba cada vez que nos veíamos. Jorge Martinez Boero era un gran amigo que se tomo una moto y se fue al cielo. El Dakar fue su boleto a la eternidad. Se fue haciendo lo que más le gustaba, su “estilo de vida”. El que eligió para toda su vida aunque se nos fue demasiado rápido, se fue en la suya. Esto fue lo que, aún a esta edad, me hizo reconocer que esto es para toda la vida. Es por eso que dedico esta, mi tercera participación en este brillante proyecto al Gauchito Martinez Boero. Espero que lo puedas disfrutar desde donde estés. Nos vemos.

Is so much talk of a “lifestyle”. Rugby has its own, Americans have theirs, the “American way of living”, etc.. A recent event made me convinced that there are such life forms or styles. I firmly believe that our profession has his own, with their pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages. We spent many weekends away from home and affections, sometimes in seedy hotels, with hot or cold, rain, shine or hail. Putting the physical to get that shot, that moment and register. This activity is a very special lifestyle that almost nobody understands, that one embraces as his own. As he did a great friend, whom I knew little but enough to value as a person. I was honored to be in a very special moment of his life, his marriage, recording, and it gave me ample samples of great guy with a conviction that what he did was for life. I enjoyed every time we met. Jorge Martinez Boero was a great friend to take a bike and went to heaven. The Dakar was his ticket to eternity. He was doing what he loved best, his “lifestyle”. The one chosen for life even if we went too fast, it was in his. This was so even at this age, I did recognize that this is for a lifetime. Llegamos a Agustín por intermedio de Bárbara Britvin, pues es su jefe en el extraordinario magazine 7Mares y nos llevamos una sorpresa…es el mismísimo finalista del Red Bull Illumine 2010 en la categoría “Sequence” con una extraordinaria foto de un clavado en un acantilado en un tour del Nitro Circus Caribbeean. Excelente persona pero con mucho trabajo que nos impido entrevistarlo pero fue posible que nos mandara material para esta edición de ShooterS, donde ustedes se asombraran de la calidad de su arte y disfrutaran como nosotros de sus imágenes. El es argentino y hace unos años reside en Costa Rica, es fotógrafo estable del Staff extremo de Red Bull Photofiles y unos de los mejores del mundo en fotografía extrema, todo un orgullo para los hispanos parlantes. . English version: We arrive to Agustín by means of Bárbara Britvin, as it is his boss in the extraordinary magazine 7Seas and carry us a surprise…is the same finalist of the Network Bull Illumine 2010 in the category “Sequence” with an extraordinary photo of a nailed in a cliff in a tour of the Niter Circus Caribbeean. Excellent person but with a lot of work that prevent us interview it but was possible that commanded us material for this edition of ShooterS, where you amazed of the quality of his art and enjoyed like us of his images. The is Argentinian and does some years resides in Costa Rica, is stable photographer of the Staff extreme of Network Bull Photofiles and ones of the best of the world in extreme photography, all a pride for the Hispanic speakers. They enjoy of the images, take his time to observe them, are extraordinary. We expect that in the future we follow having this extraordinary artist, greetings for all.

Hace 4 meses atrás me subí a Patrón, durante estas últimas semanas volví a subirme…pero nada fue igual. En noviembre me hice un buen amigo viajando, Bolivar, él es capitán de un barco en Bocas del Toro y el nombre del barco es Patrón. Me invitó a ser parte del primer viaje del barco en Panamá, como parte de la tripulación y viajamos 4 días por algunas islas del caribe llevando unos turistas. La experiencia fue muy linda, Patrón es un barco que trabaja como charter para extranjeros que vienen a surfar las olas del caribe, tiene 4 cabinas dobles en suite y un cuarto para la tripulación enorme. La verdad que si lo pienso dos veces es mejor que mi propia casa. La idea de los charters es llevar a estos surfistas a olas poco visitadas con fondo de coral, fondo de piedra y fondo de arena, todas las variedades que el caribe da. Durante el verano llegaron 3 Norteamericanos a viajar y nos embarcamos todos por 7 días a buscar olas perfectas. Se comentaba que llegaba un muy buen swell y durante los meses de Diciembre a Marzo son los mejores momentos del caribe donde las olas son perfectas. Olas tubulares, transparentes y de colores turquesas. Fondeamos después de 4 horas de viaje por mar abierto por momentos, donde el barco se movía de lado a lado y las puertas se abrían y cerraban al compás del babor estribor que hacíamos constantemente. Cuando el barco se mueve así, lo mejor es estar afuera tomando aire y viendo el paisaje.

Por esta zona vive una comunidad de nativos llamados los Nobe… ellos son propietarios de tierras por toda el área y se reparten las tierras entre las familias. Tienen un estilo de vida, interpersonal y de relaciones que es un poco anticuado, donde se cazan muy jóvenes, muchos ya a eso de los 15 o 16 años empiezan a tener sus hijos y forman familias numerosas donde todos contribuyen a la comunidad trabajando. No voy a contar cada detalle ni los días del viaje, pero si quiero resaltar momentos que para mi fueron importantes o me asombraron.

Hubo un día que salimos con una lanchita en busca de olas… diferentes, del otro lado de la costa pasando entre islas y el mar abierto y conseguimos 2 rompientes muy buenas que estaba una hacia nuestra derecha y otra hacia la izquierda, pero teníamos que llegar a la costa y atravesarlas… Encontramos un canal mirando rápido y Bolivar sin dudar dirigió la lancha con todos arriba y todas las tablas a toda velocidad calculando las olas para que no nos topemos con ninguna de camino. Llegando a la costa veíamos bancos de arena super cerca de la lancha y sabíamos que era algo muy arriesgado… de hecho nuestra frenada fue a toda velocidad chocando contra un banco, en ese momento todos salieron disparados para adelante y terminamos uno arriba del otro con las cosas enredadas entre risas y dolor.

Llegamos a esta zona de la península y lo único que había era mucho estiércol por la playa del ganado y 2 casitas de madera sobre la cima del acantilado entre medio de la selva. Yo veía la rompiente muy lejos así que decidí subir por el acantilado entre piedras , barro y anda a saber que cosas habré pisado también, pero llegué a la cima. Y ahí estaba yo al lado de las dos casitas de madera super humildes y rodeada de 7 nativos de ahí, entre niños y señoras de la casa. Al comienzo fue incómodo porque yo pretendía trabajar pero me hablaban mucho y todo lo preguntaban, hasta que me di cuenta que no me importaba mas sacar una buena foto de surf. Sino que quería conocerlos yo a ellos. Así que empezamos a hablar, los chicos estaban felices, les presté una cámara compacta que al final de la tarde me agotaron la batería así que tuve que esperar a llegar al barco para ver que sacaron. Y al más chiquito le presté la cámara con la que trabajo para que la vea y la sostenga y tenía una sonrisa de oreja a oreja. Creo que habré estado como 3 horas con ellos conversando y sacando fotos, hasta que llegó el mediodía y me invitaron a pasar a la casa y a almorzar.

Entre por la puerta que no tenía puerta, sino por el agujero de entrada a esta casa de madera elevada, y ya estaba en la cocina…. Con leña para cocinar y hamacas paraguayas para dormir… solo los adultos, porque los niños duermen en el piso de madera. Me dieron de probar una raíz hervida muy similar a la yuca con arvejas y eso solo almorcé mientras que preparaban con leche de coco un arroz también para más tarde. La bondad y apertura de esta familia conmovió mi corazón. El hecho que me dejen compartir con sus hijos, sus sobrinos y sus nietos una tarde, tomarles fotos y jugar fue mucho mejor recompensa que tomar la mejor foto de surf. Otro día que fue genial, ya en una parte donde se conoce como Cusapin… ahí los chicos son fanáticos del béisbol… mientras todos los surfistas comían algo después de horas en el agua me fui a escabullirme a encontrar nuevas caras para mis fotos. De repente se me ocurrió que quería jugar yo también y le pedí al pitcher de 7 años si podía estar en su equipo… me miró y me dejó entrar en el juego. Los más grandes se reían… a todo esto yo tenía un pareo y una remera nomás… nada preparada para andar corriendo por una cancha improvisada de béisbol donde las “casas” estaban entre el lodo, arena y estiércol. Me acuerdo aún el momento en que me tocó batear y me dieron este tronco tamaño bate… de algún árbol sería pero muy cómodo para batear. Y luego el momento en que corría de “casa” en “casa” pasando por ellas que estaban marcadas por bolsas de arpillera o zonas sin pasto.

Al otro día todos los surfista decidieron probar suerte en el partido, así que me uní al equipo. Y ese momento si que no lo olvido… voy a batear… batéo y empiezo a correr a la 1ra “casa”, mientras que en el campo ya tenían la bola y venía directo a quien me marcaba en la 1ra base… y veo como recibe la bola y empieza a correr hacia la base y yo todavía tenía un tramo por llegar y decidí tirarme con todo, como venía… y al estilo profesional no se cómo.. me estiré y me impulsé con las piernas primero y el cuerpo atrás cayendo pero tocando la base al momento que quien me marcaba se acercaba con la bola en la mano a centímetros. Y lo logré! Lo había visto todo en cámara lenta y me paré con media pierna llena de barro hasta la rodilla y todo el mundo aplaudiéndome y felicitándome jaja fue genial, mi momento de gloria.. que seguí recordando por días cada vez que veía el pedazo de moretón que quedó en mi pierna junto con pequeñas raspaduras de la arpillera. Por esto mismo decidí llamar a mi historia “Del otro lado del Caribe” ya que si bien el fin del viaje fue buscar olas y las encontramos, y surfearon todos los días… para mi este viaje representó mucho más que eso, descubrí mucho más y expandí mi corazón al compartir con esta gente. Al aprender algunas palabras de su dialecto y poder compartir una comida, una mirada, una sonrisa… y todo eso poder retrararlo en una foto.

I board Patron 4 moths ago for the first time, recently I went back... but nothing was the same. In November I found a good friend traveling, Bolivar, he is captain of a boat in Bocas del Toro and the ship’s name is Patron, in spanish it means “master�. He invited me to be part of the first trip in Panama, as part of the crew and traveled 4 days by some Caribbean islands taking some tourists. The experience was very nice, Patron is a boat that works as a charter for foreigners who come to surf the waves of the Caribbean, has 4 double cabins en suite and a huge room for the crew. The truth is if I think trice, I conclude is better than my own home. The idea of the charter is to bring these surfers to waves rarely visited in the area with coral bottom, bottom of stone and sand bottom, all the varieties that gives the Caribbean. During the summer 3 Americans came to travel and embarked all for 7 days to find perfect waves. It was said that got a pretty good swell and during the months of December to March are the best times of the Caribbean where the waves are perfect. Tubular waves, transparent and turquoise colors. We anchored after 4 hours drive on the open sea at times, where the ship was moving from side to side and doors were opened and closed constantly. When the boat moves well, it is best to be outside taking air and watching the landscape.

In this area lives a community of natives called the Nobe ... they are landowners throughout the area and divided the land among families. They have a way of life, interpersonal relationships and they get married very young, many already at about 15 or 16 years begin to have their own children and make large families where everyone contributes to the community working. I will not tell every detail of the trip, but I want to highlight moments that were important to me. One day we went with a small boat in search of waves ... different, across the sea passing between islands and the open sea and got 2 very good surf waves, one to our right and one to the left, but we had to get to the coast and find a channel ... looking fast and without hesitation Bolivar led the boat with all of us onboard and all the surfboards at full speed for calculating the waves that we came across any way. Arriving at the coast we saw sandbars near the boat and knew it was something very risky ... in fact we went full speed hitting a bank, then all of us fell forward and ended up on top of each other with all our things, laughing and with some pain.

We came to this area of the peninsula and all I had it had was much manure of cattle along the beach and 2 wooden houses on the cliff top between the jungle. I saw the surf very far so I decided to climb the cliff between stones, mud and who knows what other thinds I stepped on, but I reached the top. And there I was next to the two super humble wooden houses and surrounded by 7 natives there, children and ladies of the house. At first it was uncomfortable because I wanted to work but they talked a lot and all wondered an did many questions to me, until I realized I did not care but take a good photo of surfing. But I wanted to meet them. So we started talking, the kids were happy, I gave them a compact camera to take Pictures and at the end of the evening the battery was all gone, so I had to wait to get the boat to see what they took. And gave the tiniest kid, the camera that work for him to see and hold and had a smile from ear to ear. I may have been like 3 hours with them talking and taking pictures, until it was noon and I was invited into the house and lunch. I went trhough the principal door, the door that had no door, but it was a hole entrance to this large wooden house, and I was in the kitchen .... With wood for cooking and sleeping hammocks ... only adults because children sleep on the wooden floor.

To eat we had boiled cassava and peas, while they prepared with coconut milk rice also for later. The kindness and openness of this family touched my heart. The fact they let me share with their children, nephews and grandchildren one afternoon, take pictures and play was much better reward than to make the best surf photo. Another day it was great, and a part which is known as Cusapin ... that the guys are baseball fans ... while the surfers were eating something after hours in the water I went to slip away to find new faces for my photos. Suddenly it struck me that I also wanted to play and asked the pitcher of 7 years old if I could be on his team ... looked at me and let me into the game. The biggest kids laugh of all this ... I had a sarong and a shirt just ... not ready to run around a baseball field where makeshift “houses” were among the mud, sand and manure. I still remember the time I got my turn to hit and I got this bat size trunk of a tree ... but it was very comfortable to hit. And then the running time of “home” to “home” going for them that were marked by burlap bags or areas without grass.

The next day every surfer decided to try his luck in the game, so I joined the team. And then this I can not forget ... It was my turn to hit ... I did and start running to the 1st “home” while in the field they already had the ball and they werecoming straight to me, on the 1st base ... and saw how they received the ball and start running towards the base and I still had a flight to come and decided to throw myself , as if I was a professionaw .. I reached up and pushed myself to the first legs and the body falling behind but touching the base at the time he approached me with the ball in his hand a few inches. And I did it! I had seen it all in slow motion and stood with muddy mid-calf to knee and everyone applauding and congratulating me haha it was great, my moment of glory .. I kept remembering for days every time I saw the big bruise that was on my leg along with small scrape on the burlap. For this reason I decided to call my story “The Other Side of the Caribbean” because although the trip was to seek and find waves and surf every day ... for me this trip represented much more than that, I discovered much more and expanded my heart to share with these people. By learning a few words of their dialect and share a meal, a look, a smile ... and im glad of the opportunity I had to freeze all this good memories in a picture.
