ATTENTION BATE BAY SURF CLUBS, MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!! A competition is being held between the four Bate Bay clubs for a blood donation drive. In 2009 Wanda won this competition and received funds as prize money. This year, from 21st November until 21st December, we are asking members, family and friends to attend the local Red Cross and donate much needed blood. The prize this year is $1,250.00 and will go to the winning club. So let’s all get behind Wanda but, most importantly, such a great cause. Go online to register into your club’s group: Click here to register and donate blood! Let’s all get that friendly rivalry going and try and win this competition for Wanda. So go online and register and make the time to donate.

Time is running out so pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease donate...

Solly’s Joke of the Newsletter A Russian, an American, and a Blonde were talking one day. The Russian said, ‘We were the first in space!’ The American said, ‘We were the first on the moon!’ The Blonde, ‘So what? We’re going to the be the first on the sun!’. The Russian and the American looked at each other and shook their heads. ‘You can’t land on the sun, you idiot!’ You’ll burn up!’ said the Russian. To which the Blonde replied, ‘We’re not stupid, you know. We’re going at night!’.

Congratulations to the following members who were nominated for the Cook Community Classic Awards as well as the local Council awards for service to the community, in particular, our great surf club: Anne Caterson (tireless work on the Sutherland to Surf) Kersten Sadler (our wonderful registrar) John Douglas (our carnival entry man and general all round club member) Trevor Elliott (our Treasurer who gives up an enormous amount of time) Glad you are with Wanda. We couldn't do it without you. Another club member, Alex Vance, was recognised for her services to Woolooware High School.

A very big thank you to Supa Lloyds IGA at Cronulla for coming to the club yesterday to present us with a big donation. Through their Community Chest program, Supa Lloyds IGA have recently sponsored charities such as the Salvation Army ($10,000) in the Blue Mountains and two schools ($4000) within that area who were affected by the recent bushfires. And yesterday it was our turn! We are very grateful to Supa Lloyds IGA at Cronulla for their continued support of our club and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts! So everyone, support this local business who, in turn, supports us! Thank you to all who attended the cheque presentation.

Rescue of the Month (October) Congratulations to the following members on being nominated and winning Sydney Branch Rescue of the Month. Stephanie McIntosh and Elyssa Lawrence. These two girls are from patrol 11 and executed a flawless rescue of a woman who was in distress. These girls calmly worked together to bring this lady into shore and keep her safe. The club was the winner of a pair of binoculars so great work girls! The club has been very fortunate to receive a Government grant to go towards our upcoming building works. Sarge and Anita put this proposal through and, with the help of Mark Speakman, State Member for Cronulla, we were successful!

Interclub Carnival Well, we went, we competed and we came away with third place! Not a bad effort considering a number of our members were away. How fantastic was the 12 a side swim relay where Wanda were the victors! Great swimming by everyone in that race. The lead was changing all the time but it was great to see Mini Allum’s fabulous body surfing skills come into play to take the lead and win the race ahead of North Cronulla. Everyone who competed in all events did so with the Wanda pride.

NORTH CRONULLA CARNIVAL SATURDAY 21ST DECEMBER 2013 Entries close Monday 16th December 2013 (no later). Apply to the office on 9523 4343 or clubhouse@wandasurfclub.com or write it in the Carnival book in the gym.
