SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING 1st June 2014 A special general meeting is to be held on Sunday 1st June 2014 at 2.00pm.

This meeting is for members to vote on the Motions proposed in the email sent to all members on Tuesday 6th May 2014 in relation to Stage II of the building works at Wanda Surf Club.

The following members ARE eligible to vote: Active 15-18 years Active 18 years and over Associate Long Service Life Members The following members are NOT eligible to vote: Honorary Members General Members Nipper members If you are unsure of your membership status please do not hesitate to contact the office on 9523 4343 and we can advise you.

Solly’s Joke of the Newsletter A blonde and her husband are lying in bed listening to the next door neighbour’s dog. It has been in the backyard barking for hours and hours. The blonde jumps up out of bed and says “I’ve had enough of this!”. She goes downstairs. The blonde finally comes back up to bed and her husband says “The dog is still barking, what have you done?”. The blonde says “I put the dog in our backyard—let’s see how THEY like it!”.

Aussie Titlesâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;Scarborough Beach, Perth 2014 State Titlesâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;Umina, 2014 Last newsletter we gave you the results of our Touring Team and added some photos.

Wanda did extremely well at these championships with a small team heading to Perth.

Also, Wanda came away in 3rd place at the State Titles at Umina in March, which was a great result.

Wanda was fortunate to be able to fit out their Touring Team with a smart navy and sky blue polo shirt and red hat! (Thank you to Carol Woods for organising this). See photo attached.

TRAINERS COURSE Registrations are now called from Clubs for interested and eligible members who are wishing to become Trainers to attend the scheduled Trainers Course to be held June 2014 as the first of the Winter 2014 Calendar courses.

Courses run by SLS Sydney will be either Nationally Recognised Qualification or a SLSA Award. This Trainers course is a Nationally Recognised Qualification Award. The aim of the course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and experience to deliver quality training of Surf Life Saving awards. You will also develop knowledge and skills to enable you to demonstrate competence in the nationally recognised unit of competency : TAEDEL301A provide workskill instruction, BSBCMM401A Make a presentation Pre requisites To commence training for the Training Officer Certificate you must have met the followcient in the award you wish to train candidates for Course Details for the Candidate

Course : Trainers Course Date/Time : Thursday 5th June 2014 Session 1 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm Tuesday 10th June 2014 Session 2 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm Thursday 12th June 2014 Session 3 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm Venue : North Cronulla SLSC (Judd Room) Minimum 6 Candidates Maximum 20 Candidates. Registrations may close off prior to this date if maximum course numbers are met.

Casual comfortable dress for classroom activities is recommended. Dinner is not provided at the course, therefore we would recommend candidates bring a snack along. Tea/ Coffee will be provided.

NIPPERS 50TH Wanda JAG 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner To all past and present members of Wanda SLSC On 15 November 1964 members of Wanda SLSC formed the Junior Activities Group named Wanda Blue Bottles for children aged 7 years to 13 years. This year marks the 50th anniversary.

We would like to announce the Wanda JAG will be celebrating with a Gala Dinner to be held on Saturday 15 November 2014 at Gymea Trade Union Club. We are also planning a presentation of past history and a display of memorabilia. An Event Organising Committee has been formed and will be headed by Charlie Brown, a Wanda JAG Life Member.

We need your input and help A Sub Committee is required to create the display of memorabilia, memories and stories of the nipper movement over the past 50 years.

If you can contribute in any way, please contact Wanda Surf Club 02 9523 4343 for more information or attend a meeting to be held at 11am on Sunday 18th May 2014 upstairs at Wanda SLSC. The Event Organising Committee would like to invite all those that can contribute to attend this forum to get the ball rolling on this wonderful celebration.

We are looking to gather as much information as possible to cover the eraâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s; 1964-1970, 1970-1980, 1980-1990, 1990-2000, 2001-2014 Memorabilia All memorabilia will be logged and tagged to ensure the safe return to the owner after the dinner Event tickets More news and information on tickets for the Gala Dinner will be out early August. Save the date and make sure you get in early once on sale as tickets will be very limited We look forward to hearing from you.

We are always looking to boost our numbers on patrol and, as we have many nipper parents who are bronze holders, it would be great to see you on patrol! Maybe your child is on a patrol? This could be something you could do together. If anyone is interested please contact the office on 9523 4343 and we can help you out.
