Etana, Luciano and Richie Spice Shut Down Dobba Festival 2017
The Dobba Festival took place for the first time in Nairobi at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre on Saturday evening. Despite the show not being marketed properly, the crowd turnout was remarkable. There was lots of activity although the show started on a slow note with a bomb sweep being done three hours before and tickets or passes not being enough at the gate. The venue was nicely setup with a huge stage, lcd screens, nice leather seats and haystacks in vip/vvip(inclusive of food and drinks),MC Samora and his Clear Cut hype team who did a perfect job to keep the energy levels high as Deejay Farook spun tunes from old and new school dancehall to vintage reggae. Femi One and a rap group performed as curtain raisers as Lion and Mbusii also hyped up the crowd.Etana then came onstage and did a electrifying one hour performance that got the crowd in a frenzy as she churned tunes like ‘Jah Chariot’, ‘I Rise’ inclusive of a special tribute to Bob Marley. Lion and Mbusii then hyped up the crow for afew more minutes before Luciano came onstage. He did flips, he sang his heart out with his golden voice, he did a split and gave his full mind and soul to his performance even walking to the crowd to be closer to them.he was in his full Rastafarian element for seventy five minutes which he also used to speak to the youth about voting wisely for good leaders in the upcoming elections.Mbusii and Lion did another set with deejay before the man of the moment-Richie Spice came to take over the stage with his live band. He sang songs like ‘Earth A Run Red’, ‘Brown Skin’ and ‘Gideon Boots’ amongst others which
lasted for about 90 minutes. All in all it was a good event and despite the light drizzle, the show ended on a high note.
