The Mo Festival announces full line up as the Ibrahim Governance Weekend returns to the continent
By Wanjiku ThukuThe Mo Ibrahim Foundation (MIF) is pleased to announce the full line-up of artists for the Mo Festival, taking place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Saturday 29 April 2023, on the sidelines of the Ibrahim Governance Weekend (IGW).This year’s concert will be a celebration of African music and culture, featuring some of the biggest names from Kenya and beyond. Headlined by East African superstar Nyashinski, the concert will also include some of Kenya’s top artists, such as Otile Brown, Mejja, Nviiri and Femi One – recently crowned 2022 Best Female Rapper of the Year at the Afrimma Awards. The legendary Senegalese musician Youssou N’Dour will make a special guest appearance on stage. Added to this will be performances from two of Kenya’s finest DJ’s - DJ Joe Mfalme and DJ Pierra Makena.
Ahead of the concert, there will be a media briefing with the artists on Friday 28 April at 10:00 EAT at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upper Hill, where they will discuss their background, upcoming performance, and their contribution to and the importance of African music and culture in the world today. Advance tickets for the Mo Festival cost KES 1,000, with tickets available on the gate for KES 1,500. Gates will open at 18:00 EAT and performances will start at 18:30 EAT. The event is set to end soon after midnight.
The Mo Festival will mark its return to the continent, following three years of disruption. The festival presents an opportunity to celebrate Africa’s music and culture at a time when its impact and influence is transcending the continent’s borders. The Mo Festival is part of the Ibrahim Governance Weekend (IGW), which will bring together prominent African political and business leaders, civil society, multilateral and regional institutions, and Africa’s major international partners, to debate the challenges and opportunities facing the continent in an ever-changing global environment over three days. This year’s IGW will take place from 28-30 April.
